JoshuaWAH reacted to Benin in Chessington General DiscussionThat's not very fair on those who are disabled but don't necessarily require a wheelchair. You cannot force all disabled guests under one thing because it's essentially discrimination and removing independence (a very important factor for many who suffer from disabilities).
In the same vein that's why I'm unsure if a Blue Badge requirement at minimum would be problematic in that not everyone who qualifies for RAP can qualify for a Blue Badge or PIP. Disability stuff is hellish to get through these days.
As I say it appears to not be under anywhere near the level of abuse at other UK parks that we've used the RAP equivalent at. Merlin parks need to start by ensuring the system is being used correctly and telling anyone who argues this where to go.

JoshuaWAH reacted to JoshC. in Chessington General DiscussionI get the point you're trying to make, but the way your posts read here is that because the park are failing to deliver a suitable accessible system, it should be removed for non-wheelchair users who do need it.
Which...isn't right.

JoshuaWAH reacted to Theme Park Fanatic in Chessington General Discussion@Matt Creek, unfortunately due to the Coronavirus restrictions Chessington Buzz nor Theme Park Guide could ride Tomb Blaster today. Chessington Buzz said too me via Facebook that no external changes have taken place to Tomb Blaster. Of course this does not guarantee that Forbidden Tomb has returned in all but name. Obviously the Forbidden Tomb sign is still above the entrance so the canvas sign saying Tomb Blaster could be taken away at the last minute to expose the Forbidden Tomb one.

JoshuaWAH reacted to JoshC. in Black Mirror LabyrinthSo for anyone interested, one can make out what is said on the signage at the entrance to attraction thanks to Jack Silkstone's video (around 25min mark), and gives a sense of what we could expect:
(forgive the rubbish quality)
For those who can't make it out:
1. Move forward when called
2. Your photo will be taken
3. Move to a touch screen
4. Click your photo and enter details
5. Accept the terms & conditions
6. Step aside for the next Participants
Misuse will not be tolerated, including inappropriate names or photos.
Names or images breaking these conditions will not be uploaded and you may be escorted off the premises.
It's an interesting premise, and with the "We value your privacy" tagline, it could suggest that throughout the experience you're 'tracked', or that things are a bit more interactive. Certainly a very Black Mirror type thing too.
Does sound like it's a potential throughput nightmare though.

JoshuaWAH reacted to Mark9 in Unpopular Opinions2021 Edition Part two.
The other day, someone said Steel Vengeance was over-rated. I'm going to stand out here, shout to the world that if you decide to refer to something as over-rated then you have no critical discourse whatsoever and you need to pick up a thesaurus and learn some new descriptive language. Saying something is over-rated is the laziest critique anyone can possibly muster up because it requires no explanation and only looks to disregard peoples opinion. It says to others, 'sure you like a ride but thats only because you're following the crowd. No, I am the only true oracle, the only one that can see past the rose tinted glasses of hype and I stand before you now to tell you that you're a blind sheeple. Follow me, I declare that Steel vengeance/Taron/Nemesis/anything people quite like isn't as good as you think it is'.
Under-rated is different. There are so many attractions out there (Alpina Blitz at Nigloland for example) that fall completely under the radar and deserve to be spoken about more. The term under-rated is actually quite nice because it can be used to inspire people to try something or go somewhere they wouldn't necessarily go to without the recommendation.
Over-rated is an awful awful phrase and looks to just belittle others viewpoints and enjoyment.

Agreed, the Smiler hype and campaign was very well orchestrated - especially considering it was Merlin's own IP. I think it speaks volumes still that it's popularity hasn't waned since the unfortunate accident either.
The Swarm's campaign I also loved, but it's interesting how that just didn't seem to strike a chord so much with people vs Smiler... maybe because people are/were sick of the "end of the world" and destruction rhetoric, where as the mysterious and different promo for The Smiler was more engaging.
I was young at the time, but on a similar note I remember vividly the Oblivion hype on park, in particular the security guard actors positioned along the perimeter construction fence.

If Loggers came back, I'd be a dutchman's uncle. They are probably waiting for it to just collapse to save on the good old demolition costs knowing them.

JoshuaWAH got a reaction from pluk in 2021 SeasonIf only they had a family enclosed Vekoma coaster.. It would do wonders for the park's younger audience.
I actually agree with the actual entrance not being the problem, but the area around it needs improvement IMO.

JoshuaWAH got a reaction from Inferno in The Six Flags ThreadSo this is late, but earlier this year (months ago) Six Flags landed themselves in hot water with enthusiasts at Over Georgia. Now I am not one to back enthusiasts who are entitled, but..
So the camera and loose items policy is kinda annoying, but meh not too serious I guess.
But that loose leg on Superman kind of seems a bit dangerous to me?
Six Flags got a lot of flack for it, and I honestly think it is for a good reason. I am not sure how vital that leg flap is, but I do think having that leg flap not be locked, and then none of the staff noticing the leg flap was not locked on the lift, or in the station is kind of poor.
It makes me question whether New Texas Giant's incident was completely Six Flags's staff training as well.. Maybe Gerstlauer were 100% correct to blame Six Flags.
