Someone hasn't worked at theme parks very long to realise this is not the case then . General public quite enjoy being able to smoothly put their bags in and go on a ride in a quick orderly fashion filling majority of seats so they know they haven't wasted queueing time because the company they've parted money with cannot do their job properly Any decent member of staff can chat and do bags. Don't come up with stupid reasons to prevent it.
  2. Yup. Agreed with what you wrote. Tbf, who needs stuff like HP when you can just have high thrill rides and stuff which you can hit people with?

There's no space to go past anyone wanting to put bags in, the baggage hold is in awful location. Answer? Two hosts. One for entrance, one for exit. Shutter Swarms baggage hold and use those staff... oh wait they never staff that properly/its closed on offpeak anyway.

^ Incorrect. You'd balance staffing levels so you gain maximum customer satisfaction and maximum employee satisfaction so you increase spend, increase visitation and increase brand loyalty whilst reducing employee turnover. Or you run thorpe.

You also need two people on the current one, otherwise the ride goes with empty seats and you build up a massive queue onto the offload platform. What is it with thorpe and it's ridiculous obsession to completely understaff and therefore stress out the hosts in baggage holds?

Ahh yes I remember this discussion. Maybe BK's roof collapsed in due to water ingress so they bothered to fix it?
  7. Regardless of what people want to ride, there's still a set park limit.

Doubt it, because they want to treat every VIP as a VIP - too many of them and the system goes kapuut.
  9. It's becoming a far better managed system. Wonder if the free queue system will continue to exist with the standby queue, or whether they'll just dump it for a Qbot..

They need to get their unlimited wristband before riding - so they know every time a VIP guest is on park!

The thing you've probably experienced with smiler is the non-timed allocation (gold and platinum fastrack) appearing at once, as obviously that's an allocation spread throughout the day whereas the solo ones are timed tickets.

Latecomer to the party! Yes the ratchet systems do pop up, like Pluk says. Seatbelts are there for safety (as imagine in the G forces, your body would not be putting its full weight on the harness (unless going backwards) so a complete restraint failure would be fine with just a seatbelt. It's also really really useful for evacs. You want to have guests get off calmly and concisely.. majority of rides with seatbelts open more than one seat at a time, which can cause issues. Hence seatbelts. Gerstlaur don't do this and have individual openings and hence have no seatbelts. Vekoma do, because vekoma probably can't be trusted. The three rides you mention have an allocated 10% of hourly throughput as fastrack and nothing more (there's worse rides with higher allocations such as Nemesis, Oblivion and Thirteen). The issue with the three you've mentioned are that they're the three worst throughput coasters (if we ignore sonic), so it would feel like they're the worst. Would love to see thorpes allocation of fastrack as I highly doubt what they mentioned a few years ago was actually correct (and if so, is a bonkers way to run a fastrack system!)
  13. Waterpark tickets are £9 next day within the theme park.. as long as there's availability!
  14. Tomb cannot operate on less than 3 trains. However 3 trains leads to dispatches every 5 minutes. So that's whats likely to be happening according to above posts.
  15. Should be 6pms all the time, don't mind a 6:30 but it isn't really needed there as everyone leaves early anyway to travel home.

  21. There are many birthdays today on TPM.. some would say too many..
  22. Fred replied to Dan9's topic in UK Attractions
^ Nope, that'd be a greasing issue. It was an electrical issue rather than mechanical. Was closed for a total of two hours yesterday (if we include 9-10am as an hour)
  23. Oh christ, I hope they don't do any live singing cos they're terrible.
  24. Sub terra now no longer has its pointless single riders queue.
  25. Fred replied to th13teen's topic in UK Attractions
Nah, it's cos its far quicker than sending all the vehicles around just to get them off. Means the battery pack has been tested as part of pre-start checks too.
