and it's in Spain and it has two B&Ms and it has a rapids ride and it has Three A's in its name. Oh and a P!
-
Not that I don't believe you Rob.. but I just believe Mr Rabbit more.
-
Just a little bit concerned that a park that killed someone a few weeks back is opening an Intamin ride.
-
It certainly got us wet through the ride alone on my last ride..
-
Thing is are we saying every time the park gets busy, they'll ban 90% of the guests who go. I really can't see how the park can do anything to change the nature of the ride. You go with seatbelts, they can be undone, you stop the turntable to allow guests on like at rainbow magicland, you severely cripple the throughput. You ban anyone without a child which is actually quite discriminationary, the park then looks to be stopping accidents by stopping anyone riding... At all.

I quite agree that we should get a Diving Machine clone at Thorpe though.

As long as chessington gets the gate figures and gets in the people it isn't dead. It doesn't invest, that is true but if people visit and spend money then thats all Merlin ultimately care about

To be honest, my post was in that topic was totally tounge in cheek. In seriousness, whatever the incident was (It's not hard to imagine the dangers on a rapids ride), It's only *slightly* unfair to punish the many, sensible riders of the Rapids because of what idiots may have done. Things like people standing up whilst the ride goes round, I've seen whole family groups stand up as the boats hit the wave pool before, should they be banned from it so the only things going round are the water and the boats. Wait.. does that mean Gordon is also banned from the Rapids.

Guaranteed they all got in that queue thinking it was Shambhala and then got disappointed that it was only Khan.
-
Love it. According to PA Community, Shambhala is due to open on the 1st June.

Banned for leaving the cap lock button on.

You'd go for something that takes up double the space of a normal spin and is about 0.1% more effective. Considering the original one is now SBNO, I don't think buying one is a good idea (Although I like how Rameses's original design is still on Huss's website) My thoughts on the top spin are pretty clear. They are a waste of potential whatever theme park they are put in, You can theme them well but when more people watch then ride, it becomes its own conclusion. Waste of time and effort Thorpe Park even considering one.

http://mark2262.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/the-swarm/ I had an ephiopny in TPM chat the other night. And so I put my thoughts into words and decided to talk about The Swarm. Link as above and as always, comments as very much appreciated.

Not good enough. Open it late and put the money forward to retheme it instead of having a Mexican themed ride next to an explosion in a paint factory. If they are going to retheme it at the end of the season anyway, do it now.
-
This is actually a good start for a thorpe park season.
-
I know. engineers are still staff though

Pleasure Beach Experience needs to get a grip sometimes. They seem to want to attack something for no reason whatsoever and they do it consistently. YOU HAVE AN ALLEGIANCE TO A THEME PARK THAT SEES YOU AS A WALKING WALLET. HELL ITS NOT EVEN A THEME PARK ITS A SET OF OLD RIDES NEXT TO THE SEA SIDE
-
It really doesn't help that Merlin policy means the ride seems to do nothing for 10 minutes whilst staff amble about getting the second train on. At Miribilandia the second Katun train appeared out of nowhere and with only two staff on the ride it was amazing the speed they went at to do it.
-
The fact it still exists and look like that isn't funny, it's just sad..
-
I'm never surprised by this. Inbetween the asking about fastrack and what rides are they building next year, all the people who post on there just repeatedly moan about the price and how crap the rides are.. All the time..
-
As I said on TTF, this could ride like an absolute dog but it would still be loved on the quirkiness of its theming alone. :wub:May can't come soon enough

Very much agreed with you James. Phantasialand is one of the best parks in the world. It would be the best park in Germany if it wasn't for Europa Park but I digress.Just a few thoughts. I'm not really a fan of this constant comparisons with Merlin, they're kind of unwarranted because whilst Merlin aren't the masters, they are far from the worst (hey Drayton!).I digress, 100% agreed with Black Mamba. It's probably the most thought out B&M inverter out there with an attention to detail that very few rides compete with. What it lacks in an original lay-out, it makes up for in sheer grandeur. Glad you appreciated it! Same with Mystery Castle which is one of the scarier drop towers out there for its force and intensity. Theming also second to none. The thing I found with the Winjas is that Fear is brilliant but Force is just forceless and a bit rubbish. And I didn't really think much of the little tricks as I felt they broke up the pacing of the ride, something which I've never found on Fury, Tarantula or Spinball despite the trims. No doubt that they are really fun rides and are very original in what they do. Surprise Immelman included!I can only remember finding Colorado Adventure really bumpy. Not sure why that is my over-riding memory but I did ride it when I was 12, so maybe my younger memories gave it something that 18 year old Mark couldn't live up to.Wonderful park though, thanks for the report.

Thats probably it then. What theming there is in the Bubbleworks these days is mostly bastardized versions from the original ride. One of my favourite reviews of the Bubbleworks is http://www.s10463835...works_plain.htm on here. Particularly favourite line is"EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS ATTRACTION IS NOW COMPLETELY IDIOTIC. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.Whoever authorised the revamp – they’re an idiot. Whoever came up with the new theming – an idiot. The whole ride is now designed with the idiot in mind. Chessington – you are idiots."

That would make RobD very happy indeed...
