Will the UK ever produce another world class coaster?
Mark9 replied to mccoaster's topic in General Discussion
100%, fully agreed. It's hard to understand these days what a revolution Oblivion actually was and the impact it made on the UK coaster industry is huge. -
Great find Peter! I remember following that site religiously back in 2005/2006. Hard to believe Stealth is entering its seventh season already.

I'd rather have a short but sweet rollercoaster like Swarm, then one that rambles on for two or three minutes doing nothing in particular (The Big One, I'm looking squarely at you).So now the roofless station becomes clear, seeing that train rolling above you is going to be yet another amazing feature of this ride. It's taken what Nemesis does so well (when you are sitting front row and see the train coming towards you and over the station) and given it a Thorpe Park twist. Wonderful stuff!

Will the UK ever produce another world class coaster?

Going back to this post from November because as more and more of Swarm has been shown, it's quite clear that it has the potential of being (if not world class) then one of the best themed rollercoasters in the UK.I find the analogy quite interesting. On paper, Nemesis is about as average as they come. Not very high, only four inversions, not much of a first drop. Nowadays it has been eclipsed by more intelligent versions such as the Dueling Dragons, higher and faster versions such as Katun, was basically ripped off in Black Mamba and even spawned its own sequel with Nemesis Inferno. If Nemesis hadn't been the first of its kind in Europe and indeed one of the first B&M Inverters in existence would it have the same reputation that it currently holds? I've seen many a people say Oblivion is better then rides such as Griffin and Sheikra despite Oblivion being shorter in length and height. With Swarm, it won't have the benefit of being the first in Europe and Raptor has set an incredibly high bench mark for Swarm to beat. I think Thorpe can pull it off. Whether it will be as good or better then X-Flight and Wild Eagle is up for debate. -
There are so many rides throughout the Merlin kingdom that needed some kind of refurb or work before Rush Mr Kabz

Pretty much confirms everything that I thought about the ride. Nice and speedy through relatively straight track and overbanked turns whilst going through inversions at a snails pace so you really will feel the wing-rider position properly through-out. That first inline off the lift hill is going to be immense. And that roar. Now we know fully that B&M is back with a bang. What a sound. :wub:The next two months cannot go fast enough in my opinion.

Bit confused what you mean when the wind from the rotors and the speed in the helix may present no change in effect. Do you mean you won't notice it when you are on the ride. In which case that doesn't matter, as Marc pointed out, Saw's Saw's spin and make no difference to the ride but it gives a good bit of interactivity and look from a spectator point of view.

Ooh I dunno, talking about Swarm and locusts seems rather apt to me.

Continuing the long running 'what do you think of a ride' competition, this time we get to the 2006 ride Stealth at Thorpe Park.Opening on the 14th March 2006, Stealth when opened was to be the parks icon ride. Featuring a 205 foot top-hat and an 80 mile per hour launch, there is no doubt that part of Thorpe Park's continuing success is this short but sweet, Intamin rollercoaster. But is it any good? You decide but remember, it isn't just the ride that is important, it's everything around it. Is the soundtrack adequate, does the theming match up to the ride experience.

The following post is a perfect example of how you make a post. Valentez has posted construction pictures of Krake's drop into octopus mouth sequence. As you can see he has said what it is and where the image was posted from. Your post in comparison was>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>So.. do you have an opinion? What is that ride? Where did you get the image from? Why the arrows really, do they express anything? That is why your post was deleted, it featured little to no content and was borderline spam.If you have a problem with the mod team, contact the administrators who will be only to happy to explain the decisions they have made and why.

People who don't say thank you when other people drive them home or round the country or even pay for them to do things. Makes me really sick.

The fact that it works and makes it round with no problems should be enough Joshy.

A cruise liner named the 'Costa Concordia' ran aground off the coast of Italy last night. Three people have been confirmed dead so far. These cruise liners can carry over 3000 people so it's quite astounding that not more lives were lost.
-
Air time on a B&M, surely you jest Benin?!*As for Swarm, that bit of track between the lift hill and the inline is on a very shallow downwards gradient anyway and the train will get quite a kick from coming of the lift hill. Like B&M would ever design a ride where getting stuck hundreds of feet in the air is common. *God, such perfection can be only a few feet away from utter dross. Beggars belief.

I don't see the problem with postponing a trip until a new announced attraction opens. I think it's rather irritating going half way around the world to see a ride being constructed, maybe even fully built and ready to open but missing it by a few days.
-
I seem to remember you attempting to post on a forum during our Italy trip. or that might have been me.

There are so many projects going on for 2012. I think it's one of the most exciting seasons for ages. You've got Swarm, Euro-Montu (I know its not called that), Shambala, Voodan, Nemesis Sub Terra, Skyrush, X-Flight, Both US Disney park area expansions and the Dollywood ride to name but a few.
-
impressive. Very impressive. I really want to ride this in March and say "the benchmark has just been raised" because based on everything we've seen so far, Thorpe Park and 'the Swarm' deserve every praise they get.

A crate load of bees. It's the Swarm!

Ooh I know. If I was hungover it would make me feel better though. Our version just has nothing on the Americans though. Ours has started going in that direction with the Sky-Lift, Grannies house and the ejector seat.. but they've had it for years. Wonder if I can find any examples..

Winter/Total wipeout is the perfect hang over television programme. Just sitting there watching people being whacked to and fro by the Ski-lift is just wonderfully stupid television. Need more!
