When will Colossus get 'cleaned up?'
I believe it is cleaned far more regularly then yearly, it's just the build up happens very quickly. Goes from unsightly to a massive clean up operation and when time equals money, the park won't push to have the pit looking it's best all the time. Considering how rarely the majority of guests look down into the pit (And considering the train travels to fast through that section to really take in the Medusa fountain and pit) it's probably fallen down the priority list. When Nemesis had its broken pipes for all it's blood fountains, the park came up with a novel solution to solve that issue. Maybe Thorpe need to do that kind of thing here.

Europa Park
God they are so full of it with their amazing launch coaster being engulfed by the new (probably) amazing wooden coaster. They don't know it but I hate how good German coaster enthusiasts have it. Two of the best parks in the world. Sickens me

Jobs At Chessington
Best post you have ever made Kevin. Thats the truth for working at any theme park. Whilst a majority will work there for money, enthusiasts (or fanboys if you will), do get an extra kick out of doing something they are interested in. Whether it be making someones day or getting a round of applause from a whole train at Runaway, there is something about working there that you can't do anywhere else. And it gives you so much confidence for the future too. Sure, I can open an oven and put bread in it but I used to operate three rollercoasters and eight other rides. You have no idea the kind of conversations you can have with others just by working one or two (or in my case, five) seasons at Chessington.

Jobs At Chessington
I hear what you're saying HAJIME and to a point I do agree that a bit of interaction can go a long way. One of the problems with using rides like Fury is when all seven staff members decide to just have fun. I remember one time seeing doughnuts being crossed over the platform. As you said, you can have a discussion with someone on batch or at the front gate or say a short hello to someone at on-load. But when dispatch and off-load decide to go down the interaction point, I actually think the safety aspect is far more vital then telling guests to flap their wings. Dispatch shouldn't be doing that and neither should what was called off-load when I worked there.Absolutely agree with Peter actually. Rides like Runaway Train, Rameses and Black Bucaneer are fine for interacting. Fury, Vampire and Rattlesnake. To a minimum please.

Parks, Rides And Coaster News
Never a truer word spoken. Albeit, Intamin have never been to hot with nice supports (only Stealth and its clone really look minimalistic), their track style has always looked rather arty. That looks yuck.

When will Colossus get 'cleaned up?'
The short answer is yes.The longer answer has been basically covered by all bases except for one point. Everytime you add a new attraction to your park you are basically inviting thousands more people around your house. When you have guests over you like to make sure that everything in your house is tidy and neat, you vacum your floor, you dust things off, you make it presentable and show it at its best. It is illogical for this to happen every day at a theme park but at least every season some kind of work needs to be done otherwise the new attraction will show up the old and make them look shoddy and unkept as a result. It's ridiculous that rides like Vampire, Colossus and Oblivion have not seen one iota of a paintbrush since their first season of operation. Last year, even Inferno was starting to look a little grubby with parts of it with very faded red track. I think sometimes cost comes above actual realistic first impressions. Maybe guests don't look at that point of view I don't know. All I know is rides like Big Thunder Mountain at WDW look like they were built yesterday (even before its current refurbishment). And that was built over thirty years ago whereas Vampire looks like its from the dark ages (pun sort of half intended)

I reallly love the colours they've used. Bright and vibrant certainly works for American coasters.

Tidal Wave
In all honesty it's probably just false hope. Remember that the gas tank thingamajig is hit by a huge force of water, every few minutes during open season and unless we've just never been told, it has never had a refurbishment or a major do up since Tidal Wave opened in 2000.I would love for it to be a case of Thorpe wanting to make it work though, it was an awesome visual trick back in the day and it would be nice to think the park doesn't think that the new ride is the only important thing.

The Many Musings of Mark9
Almost like I read this topic before, I've written a little something about the original Amity Cove and Tidal Wave back in 2000. I got a little bit over-enthusiastic actually. But as a youth, Tidal Wave was sublime and it is something I wanted to reflect in my blog.http://mark2262.wordpress.com/2012/01/25/the-wwtp-adventure/

Rant
People who are inpolite.People who don't know how roundabouts actually work.People who deliberately drive onto motorways at 30 miles per hour. That part of the A22 that no matter what happens, without fail, I will always get stopped by the red lights.People that drive at 50 on a 70 mile per hour road. The same people that drive at 50 on a 30 mile per hour road. STOP BEING SO CONSISTENTLY BAD AT DRIVING.

Ride 14 - Stealth
I voted good. It remains the only ride that I am scared off, Marc will back me up when I say everytime I ride it I do end up screaming just that little bit and no matter what I do my eyes end up closing. It's probably just the un-naturalness of the launch that does it.Sadly Stealth has a fundamental flaw that its ride time and length is so short. Rides like The Incredible Hulk, Shock and I-Speed really show that a launch should be followed up by something far more substantial. We could argue to the end of time that Stealth doesn't need more track because that launch is memorable. The problem being Stealth was outdated by Storm Runner, Kanonen, Xcelerator and Superman Escape before Stealth even opened. The general public, it won't matter. As an enthusiast its quite a flaw. And the theming is rubbish. Things that have been abandoned and a giant tyre do not a theme make.

Thorpe Park Staff
I think the rides staff are the most miserable of the Thorpe staff actually, sure you get the few good eggs but majority they are the ones sitting in their cabins or chatting amongst themselves. It's the F&B and retail staff that really shine as they always attempt a conversation with you whenever you try and purchase something. Particularly in the shop next to Detonator, they always give a pleasent experience.
