You weren't planning on going anyway so the point becomes irrelevant. Well thats then. With that mindset, going to Alton would be a pointless endeavour anyway, even if all the rides were open. Of course, Chessie comes with its own problems such as two major rides closed and major capacity problems on Fury, Rattlesnake and Vampire and of course Thorpe has Tidal Wave, Samurai and Vortex down. Still, there's always the closing at 5pm Loggers Leap or the completely unthemed to within an inch of its life Dragon Falls to enjoy for Log Flume fans.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH. I wasn't planning on going anyway, but now I definitely won't.

Majority of the members of this forum are from the South of England, we all have to travel the four/five hours to Alton. I'd agree with you all if it was, say Nemesis, Oblivion and The Smiler closed. The problem really comes to how badly the Smiler incident is biting our theme parks. You can either choose to support our theme parks or not. Brilliant.

Yeah see, the problem is people aren't going to Towers. Previous Scarefest's have been packed but there is no way that this will be the story this year. The only way the park can even get back to profitable ways is to close the biggest drains on rescources. Sub terra is one, the other is the flume and the rapids. Towers is one of the biggest crises's in its history and its only going to get worse before it gets better. If it takes three rides (two if we take out the Smiler as thats special circumstances) to stop you going, that says more about you then the average guest.

That's always been my problem with the mazes too. Actors never try and scare me either instead focusing their efforts on the young or girls so I just walk through a maze being ignored.

I thought that announcement was during the 2014 season. Didn't even know it was down actually.

Moved a couple of posts from this topic, you can discuss which is better out of Blackpool and Alton to your hearts content, but this isn't the topic to do that. All posts are in the Blackpool topic.

As if I have time to search through post history, I have moderating to do!

The second Phill post of the year. I shall treasure it always.

Good point, both times I went it was dead-ish and it consistently ran a three train operation even though it didn't need to. Those American B&M's are really put through their paces actually. I think people are just surprised at how drastic Hulk's refurbishment appears to be. I never thought I'd see it as a ride that would see parts of it scrapped, it's one of the most iconic rides out there after all.

I'm not going to do a trip report, cause you've heard the ride stuff all before, I just wanted to make a few comments based on my trip yesterday. - Park was empty, like it was about to close down empty. At first I found it funny but then the realisation set in how badly the Smiler incident has affected the park. Only two shuttles on Oblivion and not able to fill a single one. Five cars on Spinball, nearly all empty. One train on Nemesis, Rita, Air and only really one being used on Thirteen and only the Intamin pair being used with full trains. Barely anyone around at all, desolate. Loads of rides done but zero atmosphere on park at all. - Don't like CBeebies land. Apart from the gaudy colours which are already starting to age, the character of rides like Squirrel Nutty and Riverbank Eye Spy is completely gone. Shame that style rules over substance to get people getting into this area as I really liked the farm. - No breakdowns seen at all. All rides were running well (even if Nemesis was a teeny bit bumpy). Particularly liked Thirteen. - Smiler was moving all day and I feel for the staff who had people all the time running up to ask if it was about to open. - Saw some pheasants. Yeah, it was that quiet.

You're taking me back too a much better time in Thorpe's history. God I miss those days, before Original Source splurged awful colours over the boats, the flashing traffic lights, the dinging of the church bell, the police style fencing around the splash pool.
-
I've changed it to a more appropriate description.
-
Crikey. The first B&M to be scrapped? I never thought it would be The Incredible Hulk. Part of me wonders if this refurb means a complete change to the last part of the ride or whether it's a complete track replacement.

Lol.

If you have a problem or are taking any issue with any posts then you need to use the report button. Even with that, so far nothing has been said that is against the forum rules.

Can you stop saying things like that please.

In his first episode he was comprehensively, well and truly exterminated by his first Daleks. Which explains the earlier daleks like in Power, Evil, Master Plan and Invasion of Earth. If anything, the way Davros's return wasn't explained is true to what has happened in the past.
-
Mainly because he was never killed by the reality bomb, the bomb never went off. We saw him shouting at the Doctor but never found out what happened to him.

I call bull**** on this story. Neither Varney or Balch have acted in this way through the entire thing and I suspect every quote is being taken completely out of context.

Let's stay civil guys.

I think I'm basic too then, Swarm isn't in my top ten, but I think its a great ride, the second best at Thorpe certainly and definitely more enjoyable to ride then a lot of rides in Europe. Bless ya though Han, my B&M list is relatively small compared to the hardcore enthusiasts out there that chase the creds. In the UK, we're very lucky to even have five B&M's, let alone the first inverter, flyer and dive machine in Europe. Whilst a lot of people don't like Oblivion and Air, I think they're great for what they are, particularly now as both ride types have taken off quite massively in the last five years, too think for a long time there was only one dive machine in Europe, and now there's four is a bit strange.
-
Anyway... As we're all listing B&M's we've been on, I'll get beaten by Benin BUT SO WHAT. 1. Nemesis Inferno 2. Nemesis 3. Air 4. Oblivion 5. Silver Star 6. Black Mamba 7. Superman de Acero 8. Batman La Fuga 9. Manta 10. Kraken 11. The Incredible Hulk 12. Chinese Fireball 13. Hungarian Hungtail 14. Katun 15. Raptor (Gardaland) 16. The Swarm 17. Oz'Iris 18. Dragon Khan 19. Shambhala 20. Sheikra 21. Kumba 22. Montu 23. Dæmonen 24. Medusa 25. Tatsu 26. Riddlers Revenge 27. Batman the Ride Backwards (Magic Mountain) 28. Scream 29. Silver Bullet B&M are by far my favourite coaster manufacturer. The strength of their rides alone can be enough to persuade me to visit a theme park. Intamin are too inconsistent.
