If it makes you feel better, everyone I know now doesn't know what they are talking about. Don't take it personally. -
Yes it is impressive. In fact very impressive. But we don't have to use that as a weapon against the Merlin parks now do we. (by the way, my opinion is that Thorpe shouldn't be open at all, its short queue times and low attendance are showing that as it currently stands, there isn't enough to bring people in)

If they refurbished the rides as much as they refurbish Bar 360, we'd have nothing to complain about

If Oblivion wasn't open, there would be no need whatsoever to visit during main season.

Can they create synergy towards each other when the show airs in November, a time when Thorpe is closed. I've never heard anyone ever say they would like to try the challenges set on the gameshow.

The theming and aesthetic of this ride is enough for me to have serious respect for Efteling. It looks sublime and looks to be a really worthwhile addition to the park. Building for the future for the win.

Well now I'm sold. Until now I was umming and ahhing but now I know it's a worlds first I'm all over it like a tramp on chips.

Hands up who isn't surprised

Part of me wants to be bitterly disappointed but then my expectations are at an all time low anyway. So to put a positive spin on it, I'm sure the target audience (whatever that is these days) will lap it up. Just for conjecture, I wonder if this will have any bearing on the theme of the 2016 dark ride. Or will this shameless IP not even make it till 2016. This post represents my thought pattern in regards to I'm a Celeb at Thorpe. One of bemusement, one of horror that they are getting an ITV IP.

Either, I'm getting my point across wrongly or you're putting words in my mouth. Fact 1. When I went Scream, Colossus and the area around it were in bad condition. Fact 2. I have neither said it is a good or bad thing that Scream is getting a refurbishment. (It's a brilliant thing if you want my opinion. Tatsu needs it next) Fact 3. I did not bring Merlin into the discussion. I'm irritated that every time a park chain or theme park does some kind of work on a ride, Merlin are bought up unnecessarily. Especially, in this circumstance when Merlin have refurbished something and they still get a good kicking. Fact 4. I'll be the first to criticise something if I personally don't like it. That has rubbed people up the wrong way at times (such as when I didn't like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey). I also compliment highly when a park does something I consider worthy of praise such as the work done on Rattlesnakes queue line at Chessington or the added lift hill section on the Rapids at Europa Park. Fact 5. I never said you can't criticise Merlin. It needs to be balanced though. Just going 'Merlin don't do this, Merlin don't do that' is silly at best, tiresome at worst. Especially in a topic about a theme park thousands of miles away that probably doesn't even know Thorpe Park exists.

That means bugger all Jamie if they 'are doing something about it'. I don't know if or when I'll be going back to Magic Mountain. My memory of Scream is a worn down, faded colour roller coaster, down a cul de sac of metal fencing, ply wood and graffitti. It means diddly squat that it's being sorted for the year after my visit. The car park lines were the least of the rides problems as who goes on a roller coaster and says to themselves 'gee, this roller coaster with a tenuous theme based around screaming, is built over an old car park.' Crikey oh riley.

Scream last year looked like a run down shanty town as did Colossos. Boarded up shops, run down toilets. We don't have to drag Merlin into every single topic, I'm getting fed up of it.

God even though the marquee isn't in that picture, I can still feel its evil prescence.

So my WiiU has been getting a lot of action recently. I've pretty much played Super Mario Galaxy 2 non stop since I bought it for the bargain price of £8.99 three weeks ago. I'm going to just say it It's my favourite game of all time. Sure at a time it's frustrating but whenever I've got hard to reach stars, it's been pure joy and it's somewhat amazing. I'm currently at 102 yellow stars and just trying to get everything before I face the final boss challenge. I'm also playing Toads Treasure Tracker, an amazing little puzzle game which is utterly charming and adorable but also challenging in its own right, Hyrule Warriors, a slash em up that lets you get lots of frustration out in one go. In between these new games I'm continualy playing Super Smash Bros for the U which is one hell of a game and Mario Kart 8 which is pretty addictive. Here's a videa of quite a race between me and Dan9. He's Roy and I'm Green Shy Guy. Love my WiiU

You know that isn't what I am saying.

I think we should yeah. If the parks own 'fans' (word used lightly) can't be bothered to pick up this things then what incentive is there for the parks, beyond maintaining the rides into workable condition. Shall we play a game of naming parks that refurbish their rides regularly. Disney is the obvious choice, but name a few more just for the fun of it.
-
See a case in point then. Instead of complimenting something being refurbished, it can still be turned into a negative. No wonder they don't bother.
-
Which at the time (and still to this day) people completely ignore and don't even comment on. You can even see it in this topic where people have ignored your post for more cheap shots at any of the Merlin sites.

As far as I could tell on my solo visit last year, the rides are getting some attention but it's not as attention grabbing or big stuff like track repaints. It's things like Rattlesnake's queue getting refurbished or a new flag returning at Griffins. I want to use the phrase small steps but I'm worried they won't have done diddly squat for this year.

I wonder how long that will last if Thorpes half term event is a success...

Just a few points here;- - Chessingtons locals are worse then Alton's when it comes to complaining about the park. Vampire did a lot of damage back in 1990, thanks to the noise it used to make so it is unlikely a coaster of that size and scale will ever be added again. Fury just isn't in the same league (although when that opened, people were pretty surprised at how high it actually went) - Alton's idea of proper maintenance is if it's falling apart, get rid of it. Parts of the Nemesis monster were just hacked off when they were beyond repair, because the park (for many reasons beyond park management) hadn't looked after it. - Alton is Merlin's premier theme park and the biggest and most successful in the UK. Whenever rumours of a new major roller coaster spring up, not just the UK but the industry takes note. Somehow a MACK star coaster on the Toadies site wouldn't quite grab the headlines. - Alton has more space (and removes a lot more rides) then Chessie.

Genuinely didn't realise people still used the chat room.

Thats correct, they have trains that tour the country shall we say. It was okay for a novelty when I rode it at Magic Mountain but I craved the full on intense Batman.
