James_C
I was quite shocked to see that there was no topic for the East Coasts finest fun fair/theme park. I go there every year and it is one of those theme parks that although there is nothing of major thrill...it is never really boring. The wooden rollercoaster is a real experience and I would recommend going there purely to try this out! Apparently they have added a new rollercoaster this year...a family spinning wild mouse although I have seen no photos or publicity of this... pluk
That looks like quite a lumbering turd of a coaster. Matt 236 and Inferno
tomathy
I rode the Family Star coaster a couple of weeks ago and can vouch for it being a "lumbering turd". The wooden coaster however is a classic woodie, one of very few side friction coasters remaining and still runs with a brakeman on board.Whilst there is nothing exceptional at the park there are very few queues and a great Fun House attraction with blacklights, 3D effects and the good old moving floors. Well worth a visit for a few hours if anyone is ever in the area, me and my family always seem to get out there once a year and still enjoy it. TPJames
I see they have evolution, is this the one from Camelot? Certainly looks as painful and slow as the one at Camelot anyway :L
pluk
Oh yes, I can vouch for the wooden coaster being a thing of beauty, could ride it all day. Also enjoy Mulan (or whatever it's called) which goes at quite a speed and has the little canopy that comes over the top, but that's about it for me there. Much more fun up the other end of the beach in Joyland with the snails and mountain tubs. Whiteknuckle and ste193
Matt 236
From what I've seen, the park has a rather good woodie coaster and a few okay supporting rides. That family star coaster looks rather lacklustre in my opinion.
James_C
After watching that video it looks very bad...I mean it looks badly designed and as if even a young child would get bored on it. I thought it would finally be a coaster which some of the other seaside fairs have like Klondike at Hayling Island or the eurofighter at Adventure Island. planenut
I shan't estimate how many years it is since I was there, do they still have the old water chute?
James_C
Do you mean this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88dmApd7Ptw If so it is one of the filthiest flumes I have had the displeasure of going on. A few years back there were nappies in the body of water and its always a green colour...

Riding the Snails and the Mountain Tubs up at Joyland are some of the best early childhood memories that I have. I am in no way shamed to say that I rode both of them 3 times a few weeks ago whilst my family sat and watched me. pluk
Whiteknuckle
Definatley could ride the Scenic Railway at the Pleasure Beach all day. Regards the new coaster, I went on a similar one at Skegness, and it was the biggest heap of rubbish I have ridden, and did you have to mention the Log Flume? coastercameron98
No, this one...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpRlNYoF9wE In that case no they got rid of that a while back I think, but the one that is there currently uses the seawater and still isn't the best of quality
planenut
In that case no they got rid of that a while back I think, but the one that is there currently uses the seawater and still isn't the best of quality Ah, pity then. The old biogger one had the big perspex screen that one stood behind and all ducked when the water hit it. I believe that was identical to one at Dreamland Margate and, not that any of you would know, when Battersea Park in London had a permanent funfair, the one there. James_C
That water chute looks old but impressive...I was expecting a Tidal Wave esc splash though not the little squirt...

The one at Battersea was the same one as Dreamland, having been moved there when Battersea closed I believe. I rode the Yarmouth and Dreamland ones many times (in fact that looks a hell of a lot like the 1992 me in the front of the first boat on the clip you posted, but the chances are way too short for it to actually be me, surely!), great old rides. Loving the shark design on the boats, something I had totally forgotten about but remember watching them for what seemed like hours from behind that screen now I've seen that. Good times. Mattgwise
But isn't the proposed Dreamland heritage park supposed to be opening with one they have in storage in a couple of years.
planenut
But isn't the proposed Dreamland heritage park supposed to be opening with one they have in storage in a couple of years. Still hopeful; they have several items in storage and do have some "listed" rides. It would be good to have that park open again, though it's a long way over there, for little else. Gggggggg
After watching that video it looks very bad...I mean it looks badly designed and as if even a young child would get bored on it. I thought it would finally be a coaster which some of the other seaside fairs have like Klondike at Hayling Island or the eurofighter at Adventure Island. Despite what you may have seen in a video, the ride actually spins very fast. Unlike most spinning coasters, this coaster doesn't stop spinning. There is no lock on the cars to stop them spinning. They are held in place by operators on boarding/disembarking. I went last month. It's good funIt's a real shame they let the south end of the park end up the way it did. Although, they are getting a huge casino down there Edited October 27, 2013 by pluk Posts merged. Please don't double post.
InfernoMartin
Finally, One of the best rides in the park is getting a refurb the Log Flume anyone live near pleasure beach and willing to take any pictures to show the progress ? Also ocd here but it annoys me the logs arnt in number order it would be nice if it went 1-11 not 2,1,4,5,6,7,9,10,8,11 :s also dunno why log 3 is not on the water when I visited it was parked up on the queue bars near the back :s Gggggggg
Fred
You'll struggle to find any boats on any water transit ride in order. So try not to pay any attention to them whenever you visit any attraction
Gggggggg
also dunno why log 3 is not on the water when I visited it was parked up on the queue bars near the back :s Always wondered this myself. Anyone have any ideas? Any employees on here? I would also like to see pictures of the refurb.
