I was quite shocked to see that there was no topic for the East Coasts finest fun fair/theme park. I go there every year and it is one of those theme parks that although there is nothing of major thrill...it is never really boring.

The wooden rollercoaster is a real experience and I would recommend going there purely to try this out!

Apparently they have added a new rollercoaster this year...a family spinning wild mouse although I have seen no photos or publicity of this...

  • The historic wooden Roller Coaster is now a Grade 2 listed structure.  I think that's great news, as it means the coaster will be preserved. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/

  • That looks like quite a lumbering turd of a coaster.

  • Oh yes, I can vouch for the wooden coaster being a thing of beauty, could ride it all day. Also enjoy Mulan (or whatever it's called) which goes at quite a speed and has the little canopy that comes

I rode the Family Star coaster a couple of weeks ago and can vouch for it being a "lumbering turd". The wooden coaster however is a classic woodie, one of very few side friction coasters remaining and still runs with a brakeman on board.

Whilst there is nothing exceptional at the park there are very few queues and a great Fun House attraction with blacklights, 3D effects and the good old moving floors. Well worth a visit for a few hours if anyone is ever in the area, me and my family always seem to get out there once a year and still enjoy it.

After watching that video it looks very bad...I mean it looks badly designed and as if even a young child would get bored on it. I thought it would finally be a coaster which some of the other seaside fairs have like Klondike at Hayling Island or the eurofighter at Adventure Island.

Riding the Snails and the Mountain Tubs up at Joyland are some of the best early childhood memories that I have. I am in no way shamed to say that I rode both of them 3 times a few weeks ago whilst my family sat and watched me.

In that case no they got rid of that a while back I think, but the one that is there currently uses the seawater and still isn't the best of quality

Ah, pity then. The old biogger one had the big perspex screen that one stood behind and all ducked when the water hit it. I believe that was identical to one at Dreamland Margate and, not that any of you would know, when Battersea Park in London had a permanent funfair, the one there.

The one at Battersea was the same one as Dreamland, having been moved there when Battersea closed I believe. I rode the Yarmouth and Dreamland ones many times (in fact that looks a hell of a lot like the 1992 me in the front of the first boat on the clip you posted, but the chances are way too short for it to actually be me, surely!), great old rides. Loving the shark design on the boats, something I had totally forgotten about but remember watching them for what seemed like hours from behind that screen now I've seen that. Good times.

Thanks for that Pluk, interesting; great rides, plus great entertainment for the onlookers.

But isn't the proposed Dreamland heritage park supposed to be opening with one they have in storage in a couple of years.

Still hopeful; they have several items in storage and do have some "listed" rides. It would be good to have that park open again, though it's a long way over there, for little else.

Despite what you may have seen in a video, the ride actually spins very fast. Unlike most spinning coasters, this coaster doesn't stop spinning. There is no lock on the cars to stop them spinning. They are held in place by operators on boarding/disembarking. I went last month. It's good fun

It's a real shame they let the south end of the park end up the way it did. Although, they are getting a huge casino down there
