How Busy Is It Going To Be?

Mark9

Question

Right, so instead of endless topics asking us how busy the park is going to be, instead here is a rough guide to the kind of business the park/s should be expecting this season. It's not set in stone and remember business can be effected by weather, ride reliability, mount of trains/cars on the rollercoasters, amount of staff working on things, fastrack etc etc etc!10am - 5pm Weekday. Likely to be very empty, particularly in term time. Queue time should be minimal (Unless your name is Stealth and you have a stupid system where you can only load 4 in the first, 8 in the second and then you end up rolling back anyway etc etc) 10am-5pm Weekend. Will be emptyish, however likely to be long queues for Saw, Colossus, Stealth and Nemesis Inferno.10am-6pm. Busy but not so bad. Queues for the coasters could reach 45/60 minutes, whilst the rest of the flat rides should be a max of 30 minutes. June and July are when schools start rolling in, so between 11-3 the park will be very busy.9.30am-6pm. Should be busy. Queues for the coasters could reach 60/90 minutes and the rest of the rides queues will be between 20/40 minutes. Fastrack will be in operation.9.30-7pm. Expected to be busy. Queues should be similar to 9.30-6.00 close except the last hour should be quite empty.9.30-8.00 Again should be busy. At least you have a long day to get on quite a few rides. 10.00am-10.00pm Will be busy. Last year wasn't as bad as previously however if it ever hits peak capacity, queues will be up to 2 hours for the rollercoasters and between 45/90 minutes for the flat rides.Remember guys, read this guide to help if you beat the queues without wasting money on Fastrack. Also use the park well. Head to Stealth and Inferno instead of Saw and Colossus. Do rides whilst they look empty instead of following the majority of the crowds.

Something I've noticed is that 13th April- 17th April are all listed as 10-6pm days which would imply school holidays however the Surrey Schools Term Dates calendar states that schools in the Surrey area go back on the 13th April.

Anyone got any idea on why this is, and if so, do you reckon the specified week will be particularly busy?

(Also, on the busiest days during Easter, what are peak queue times, I would imagine no where near as busy as Summer or Fright nights but coaster lengths of up to around 90minutes?)

Where I am in Hertfordshire the Easter Holidays run from the 2nd April all the way through to the 19th April so I'm guessing different counties have different term dates so Thorpe are just accommodating for that I would assume

What are you on about? Take a look for yourself...https://www.thorpepark.com/resort-information/getting-here-opening-times

No I meant someone at Thorpe looked at the 2014 surrey schools calender when deciding opening times because they were on holiday that week last year, Surrey have shifted it a week earlier this year so the kids go back round here on the 13th.

Coastercameron98's answer is more plausible though.

Surrey is meant to have this "even term length" thing but this half term is only 5 weeks long whereas the majority of counties don't break up till good Friday itself for 2 weeks. If you go to buy tickets, the 30th-2nd is actually £24.99 making it an "off peak date" but from Good Friday for two weeks it is £29.99 deeming that the peak dates. Gotta love Surrey and their silly term dates.

Silly isn't a term I'd use to describe Surrey County Council.

We just got our notifications for secondary school, we got the choice we wanted, our sons friend who lives no further away from the school, but in a different direction, got a school that's a seven mile round trip away.

Silly? Insane more like.

Following up to my previous question, when during the Easter Holidays will be the quietest period to visit?

I know the whole of the holiday period is likely to be busy, however I would like to visit when the queues are as short as possible. I can personally tolerate any queue length up to around 60 minutes, however anything less than that would be ideal(30-45minute queues for the main coasters).

Any help would be really appreciated :)

3 of them are almost guaranteed to be closed on Saturday. So don't get your hopes up for vortex, detonator or slammer. It's also likely X and Colossus will still be on reduced capacity.

jesus. sounds like I have a terrible day ahead of me.

would you expect sunday to be as busy or no???

It was very busy today so I'd expect the same or worse.  Having four rides closed, two on low capacity and poor dispatch times on the ones with two trains doesn't help...

What's the fourth ride closed at the moment?  According to their Twitter, Slammer, Vortex and Detonator are closed.

There was a 4th, Samurai has been closed all day today. :(

I'm going on Sunday, and expecting it to be pretty quiet to be honest. Every Time I've been on the last day of the holidays it has been dead, so hope this Sunday is the same!
