  1. Day 1 - Pleasurewood Hills PARK OPEN: 10am - 5pm RIDES CLOSED: None that I can think of, but several breakdowns/late openings. After enjoying a day at Pleasurewood Hills last year we decided to return this year. The day started badly; after park opening we headed to Enigma to find that it wasn't ready to open, then found that Wipeout was also not open. Fortunately Marble Madness opened on time and was running four cars - it did go down to three later in the day due to an issue with one of the cars, but with the crowd level this wasn't really an issue. I noticed that several of the smaller rides also opened late, which isn't good. Annoyingly, de…

A few days ago I returned back from a few days at Portaventura. This is a park I had been to once before last year, however two weeks ago I was emailed a very exciting deal for the hotel and park tickets and after a quick search I found some very cheap flights and it was decided, in a week I would be back off to Portaventura! As it was such a last minute trip I couldn’t find anyone to join me, however I’m a very introverted person so I was looking forward to having a holiday by myself and taking it at my own pace. After a sleepless night I was off to Stansted for my late afternoon flight. After being super cautious and arriving nearly four hours before …

My first visit to anywhere of 2014! so I visited Kings Lynn Mart for the first time on the 17th of feb and it was awesome! John Bugg JR presented his brand new Kmg booster which looks awesome! His KMG freakout Oblivion was there and I have to say it was running well and I actually now quite like it! My favourite Extreme was there and it was running very well and fast! There was a superbob which was VERY loud haha! If anyone is interested then here is my pictures from kings lynn on my facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.654710211257393.1073741826.373674509360966&type=1

  4. Visited Screamfest Burton for the first time on Saturday and was very impressed with the mazes and overall event, maze reviews can be found below in the order I did them in. Freak Out The scariest of the three clown mazes I've done this year thanks to the fantastic actor costumes and makeup, the interactive sections within the maze also added some contrast and a sense of fun. Theming was minimal however the confusing layout and multiple routes made up for this! 6/10 Soul Seekers Fantastic maze which made use of atmospheric lighting changes & good detail on the theming. The actors were top notch, particularly in the first scene,…

Thorpe Park - Thursday 13th September 2012 'Cast' - James (Me) - Loves theme parks, and will grab at any and every opportunity to get some ride time! Giordan - My closest friend, loves the Disney theme parks and skipped college for this trip! Ash - Giordan's brother. Fellow Queens Park Rangers supporter, and all round good guy. Emily - Ash's girlfriend. Serial on-ride screamer! This was my first trip to Thorpe Park since July, and my first trip for sometime going with friends. Usually, my trips to theme parks are with family! I managed to save up the tokens that were in The Sun recently, and was given this date to go in return. Any chance to go to a theme park…

  7. PARK OPEN: 10am - 5:30pm RIDES CLOSED: Flying Cutlass Having not visited for a few years, I was eager to return to Lightwater Valley to see what had changed, and to get back on The Ultimate! The day got off to a good start with a ride on Eagles Claw before the main park opened (10:30am), then straight onto Twister to dodge the queue followed by two rides on Raptor Attack (again before the queue built up) and then we made our way to The Ultimate. The park is in a fairly good state aesthetically with grass well kept, and the countryside setting really adds to the overall feel of the park. With that said, some of the rides looked in need …

  8. PARK OPEN:10am - 6pm RIDES CLOSED: Voodoo Having never visited Flamingo Land before, I was looking forward to getting to a new park and wasn't sure what to expect. We arrived at 9:30am and bought our tickets with no queueing, after which we entered the park to find that Cliffhanger was already open! On the way over we noticed that Mumbo Jumbo was also open, despite there still being 20 minutes until the opening time, so we did that followed by Cliffhanger - a very good start to the day. The park is set out fairly well with some nice theming in places, however some of it could do with some TLC, for example Kumali's entrance sign. …

I've just got back from a quick trip to London to collect my Chinese visa, but owing to the fact tis the season for many showmen from around Europe to bring their toys to various fields in London, theme them vaguely to Christmas and charge £1000000 a pop, it was also time to collect some new creds. With that in mind, after first collecting my visa, me and my friend popped into Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland. You all know about WW, there's entire Facebook pages dedicated to it's existence and some of you even know way too much about travelling rides so I'll keep my review short. - New security checks and set ups were very much welcomed by…

  10. TL;DR - It was okay. Could do better. Why am I walking through corridors? First Merlin attraction of the year, London Dungeons. The last time I visited the London Dungeons it was based at London Bridge, located under a railway arch. The location was great, however, caused unnecessary pedestrian traffic, this is due to London still being set in the 1600's and having very narrow streets. You'd think after being flattened 80 years ago London would be redesigned for the 20th Century, but no.... we built it brick by brick back to how it was =/ . That's progress for ya'! So, back to the past, when I visited the dungeons a few years back I was left underwhelmed. The props loo…

Hey everyone! I am organising a social type thing for the end of the season at Thorpe. The planned date for this to be on is on Sunday 9th November. If you are interested with coming with me, Cameron, Malcolm and (possibly) Coasterdude, then please post below and I will PM you all the details for the day, such as meeting points and travel stuff. Will be great to hopefully have a few of TPM members at this end of season trip to Thorpe! Regards Jason

If you read my 'More Flags More Fun' trip report you'd know I had meant to meet up with someone to go round the park with but she failed. Well this was an unplanned trip that fixed that! Hoorah. Something that I don't have a picture of is the stunning lake that is literally right next to the rides (Canobie Lake Park.. duh). But yeah it was a beautiful setting. Arrived at 4, left at 7:30 after getting on everything we wanted including re-rides. Untamed This Gerstlauer Eurofighter was my second after Saw so I was naturally expecting a rough ride. I think it has the same layout as Rage, if you've ridden that! It was good! There were one or two 'rattley' t…

Blackpool Pleasure Beach was in fantastic form all week. Having a season pass proved to be a good move as I was in and out of the park all week. Also, I'm hoping to return later in the year. It's still my favourite park by a mile, nothing else in the UK even comes close! The blend of old and new rides and coasters works really well, and I much prefer the old woodies (aside from Valhalla and The Big One). Wild Mouse was on good form (aside from an annoying trim brake), and the others were good most of the time. Grand National was running really well towards the end of the day, but lacked some of it's intent in the morning. I still prefer it to Megafobia, as when …

After my impressive trip to WMSP, I decided I'd hit up Stourport before heading home, to ride the cred at Treasure Island. Not long after entering the town of Stourport however, my progress was dramatically slowed by the realisation I'd just joined the rear of a Scout's march through the town. For a good 5 minutes or so I followed at 4 mph, while the locals watching the parade gave me death stares and the Scouts at the back of the pack kept turning round with fear in their eyes. While all this awfulness was occurring I was frantically pissing about with the sat nav in hope it could reroute me, it couldn't though, that's a surprise. Thankfully they all turned d…

  15. With the opening of a certain iconic coaster looming, I rather foolishly decided that I would celebrate the occasion by marking it as my 400th coaster. In order for that fantasy to become reality I was going to need to step up my current UK cred hunting streak... This week's adventure took me to the lovely (it really isn't) seaside town of Weston Super Mare. The first park for today was Animal Farm Adventure Park, which is located on farm land (imagine that) around 15 minutes from WSM. After paying the shockingly low admission fee (currently £9) we were ushered straight in without being given tickets, that might be a first.…

Hi All, Plan a trip to Alton Towers Mid-August, obviously going to be completely rammed due to it being school holidays etc. I plan to get 2 Day Tickets, Plus the best Fastrack available so I don't have to spend any time queueing. I'm after some advice as to what the most economical way to do this could possibly be. Obviously the park offers package deals, but I think there are probably cheaper ways to do it. Are there any offers around for cheap tickets at the moment etc? Any Advice appreciated. JD

  17. Looking at arranging a trip to Alton Towers opening day as it is expected to see Nemesis reopening at the start of the season now the retrack is complete. I'll be getting a Merlin Annual Pass in the next sale for the "24 Season. *Update* Towers After Dark will be open until 8pm on opening Saturday. My current plan is to travel to a hotel around Derby on friday evening (15th Mar). Premier Inn looks like the best option currently. Then travel to the park to arrive at the corkscrew entrance plaza for 9:30 - 10:00. Plans may be subject to change but now's a good time to get a date in the calendar. Opening day has not been offici…

So, better late than never. I had originally planned this trip for November, but with work and travelling the time never really came up for me to actually visit the park. I flew a friend of mine over here courtesy of my company last week, and this therefore granted me the perfect opportunity to drag someone along with me to Six Flags over the weekend. Our day started off pretty well, we were up and ready on time, hangover free as we played it sensible on the Friday night and didn't go out. The sun was blazing down in Santa Barbara as we got an Uber to the AMTrak station at 9am. Unfortunately, this is where things started to go tits up. We payed our $15 each for our on…

Hey guys, today I visited winter wonderland in hyde park and had an awesome time; here is my review of what to ride and what not to ride. So, I started by looking round the angels market, breathing in all the delicious smells and I have to admit the food looked delicious, however the prices were high, extremely high! We headed over towards the alpine adventures zone to start with and noticed the wild mouse XXL going with empty carriages, infact the whole park was absolutely empty! We payed £6 each to ride the mouse and joined the queue(well there wasn't a queue but whatever!) the funhouse features in the queue were awesome however it was rather disappointing that they di…

  20. PARK OPEN: 11am - 8pm RIDES CLOSED: None! Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach is a good amusement park, it takes advantage of walking trade with ride tokens as well as wristbands, and the 8pm close was good. It's worth noting that it poured down with rain from 1pm - 5pm which cleared out the park, but despite it being absolutely dead in the afternoon, they still stayed open until 8pm rather than closing early - BPB take note! Obviously the park isn't full of high quality theme park attractions, but it's an amusement park and doesn't pretend to be anything else. The atmosphere is fantastic with music playing on several of the attractions and the park b…

  21. Hey guys, new here, I had a trip down to Adventure Island yesterday and I wanted to post a little Trip Report Park Open: 11am Park Close: 10pm Rides Closed: None I got to the park at about 12pm and left at 10pm (closing time on this day), first thing I noticed the park was really busy (of course it would be) but the rides queues were really short, shorter than expected. I hadn't been down here in about 4 years so it was nice to see the park still having short queues. First ride of the day was Rage, it was running 2 trains (3rd was having its wheels replaced but later was put on and had people loaded on it within about 2 test runs) Great operations I mu…

So this weekend its the river festival in bedford and there is always a funfair for it! Before I get into my report I shall do a ride count Danter's Superstar - 2x Parrish's Extreme- 1x (it was having technical problems and me and luke waited about 3 minutes before the safety bars opened so we could get on the ride!) Stokes's Dream's Live - 1x Ghost Train - 1x Matthew's Tango - 1x Miami -1x Wallis's Vertigo Booster - 1x So onto the rides! Danter's superstar is probably the best superstar travelling in the country and it was my first ever superstar! Very intense yet relaxing! It also had air gates for the exit and entrance which is really neat! It was along th…

  23. Hey guys! I'm currently in Texas right now and me and my boyfriend decided to go to Over Texas for the day! So here's a little trip report! Rides Closed: Titan, Superman Tower Of Power, Both Log Flumes Apparantly it was too windy for Titan and Superman, However when purchasing tickets, the ticket is actually available to use every day all the way until September, so on the way back from the road trip we will most likely come back and see if the other rides are open! Okay now to the rides we did First ride of the day was Judge Roy Scream, Sat in the back car, middle row so I wasn't above an axel, this ride was very short but …

The United Arab Emirates has been getting a lot of attention recently, with four major new theme parks having opened in Dubai over the last few months. I went out there back in March with 130 others on a trip with the European Coaster Club to discover what all the fuss was about. Over the course of five days we visited Legoland Dubai, IMG Worlds of Aventure, Ferrari World, Motiongate, Bollywood Parks Dubai, Sega Republic and some smaller Family Entertainment Centres housed in the giant malls out there. Sadly, Sega Republic has since closed down - it had a fantastic Gerstlauer spinner. The parks are all very high quality, and as you'd expect have …
