  1. Was amazing to see the condition of Vampire. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the organist moving. And there was that new paint feel all over the queue line. I think it's different; but I haven't been for a couple of years, so have no idea.
  2. Oh, one thing I must say I didn't like about Kobra was the bloke's voice at the end. You get a great atmosphere with the music, and it is then ruined by the man's voice which seemed completely out of place. Apart from that, it was perfect!
  3. Longest I queued for was Dragon's Fury at about 40 minutes. I saw Vampire hit 50 minutes but that was only on 2 trains (I thought it was 1 :/). Kobra was peaking at around 45 minutes, but I wouldn't be surprised if it hit an hour. Rattlesnake never went over 10 minutes (doubt it went over 5 to be honest). I never was Tomb Blaster above 15 minutes, however Dragon Falls was probably hitting 30 minutes. Bubbleworks was on about 20-30 minutes. However, for opening day - and following AP day - I'd say all of these were very good.
  4. That generally is the point of roller coasters. And Stealth in particular..
  5. Kobra and Wild Asia are amazing. It is hard to believe the area was once Beanoland. Everything just fits in perfectly and it is perfect for what Chessington are trying to do - create a family park.Kobra itself is a very fun ride. Slightly more uncomfortable than I expected. Back rests could be a little better, but ah well. What's worse is when your groin goes into the seat - can be a bit painful at times. Apart from that, a great ride that is on a very long cycle.Congratulations Chessington on an amazing attraction!!
  6. Went to Cheesie today and had a great time! Was able to do next to everything. Got on Kobra twice in 30 minutes!Park was much quieter than expected; only 6000 were on park apparently. There weren't that many break downs that I saw; Rameses Revenge broke down and Kobra had a little blip. Apart from that and little bits of rain, it was an amazing day.A pic of me with a Lorikeet - sorry about the date; it's a camera setting I need to change. Today also seemed to be a day for meeting people. Met AeRo and Benin (didn't say him at first because I forgot he was on this forum) a couple of times during the day and was nice to finally be able to speak to him. Also spoke to Keith whilst he was on the Safari Skyway - and he seemed a little freaked out when I knew who he was! Was good to be able to put a couple of faces to names. Anyways, ride count:Kobra x3Tuk Tuk Turmoil x1Monkey Swingers x1Jungle Bus x1Lorikeet Lagoon x1Dragon Falls x1Peeking Heights x1Tomb Blaster x1Dragon's Fury x2Rattlesnake x6 (Front row x5)Vampire x1Bubbleworks x1Black Buccaneer x1Hocus Pocus Hall x1Sea Life Centre x1
  7. Will be off to Cheesie in a couple of hours. First time In two years, wow! Looking forward to a great day - not looking forward to some of the queues though; they are expecting to hit capacity after all.
  8. I know AdamY has been working on one, but how far he is to completing it I do not know. He isn't on MSN or anything at the mo, so don't know when / if he'll be uploading it.
  9. Hysteria For the 2016 season, THORPE PARK introduces ‘Hysteria’, the rethemed Gerstlauer Eurofighter! ‘Hysteria’ takes riders on a journey through a carnival, with unknown horrors that lie within. The same queue line layout of SAW – The Ride has been adopted, but with the entire queue line changed. Some of the queue goes into different carnival tents where different things happen – see below. There is also an extension added that can be opened when long queues occur, that leads to the pathway behind Colossus’ inline twists. This space that was occupied by SAW Alive has now been turned into another carnival tent, with new sideshows taking place. The queue line for ‘Hysteria’ features 2 different tents. One is the cattle pen (previously the area with all the ‘barbed wire’ on top). Audio here says how the carnival has become run down, with performers walking out. Just before you leave this tent, a letter addressed to all performers states ‘Those who leave will be used...’ After a while of queuing outside, you go into the second tent. The entrance to this tent says ‘You were warned’. This tent shows a ‘dead clown’ known as ‘Ria Yhets’ (for those who are quicker, yes, that is an anagram of ‘Hysteria’) made to scare onlookers. Hopefully, it will be obvious in some way or form that the clown tried quitting, but she was murdered, and ‘used’ for the shows. The clichéd carnival music is played in this tent, but also with a strange, dark twist to it. You then go through a stage (this is told by a sign saying “NOW ENTERING STAGE” and “NOW LEAVING STAGE” at the entrance and exit respectfully). Here, there are 2 TV screens, each showing the same thing. The ringmaster appears, addressing those in the queue. He says how this carnival has gone downhill, but he is looking for new recruits. Everyone is asked if they want to join his old performers for a new show, followed by an evil laugh. The indoor queue has been changed. The Fastrack queue goes to where the normal queue enters the building, due to a show scene. There is also a SRQ which joins here as well. Everyone is giving a disc with their number on – this corresponds to what row they are going in (you may this is is impractical, and it might be, but hey, it would be worth a try). People are dispatched is groups. Inside, there is now always at least 2 live actors there, meaning there’s no need for the TV screens. This is said to be an ‘audition’ for the carnival. One actor will be the ringmaster; another will be a zombie like performer. Others could be other performers or the ringmaster’s assistant. After loads of scary waffling on, everyone is deemed unworthy of being a performer, and are told to leave – they are more suited to ‘Ria’s job’. Those who catch on will realise they are going to be killed. Going up the stairs, there are signs saying ‘Ria’s fate awaits you’. The upstairs queue is now like a cattle pen to hold more people up there. Now, the actual building. It has been extended so that is reaches the lift hill, and part of the lift hill is enclosed in the building. The building has a very metallic look, with blood red and white paint to show the carnival colours. Ride cars. Still 4x2. Restraints brown and there’s ‘blood’ on the floor. Ride track. Has now been painted brown, but with blood stains on the track.Ride experience. Where Jigsaw was, there is now pitch black. However, through a new system that doesn’t require a sound box, on board audio takes over. When the second car stops, there’s strange carnival noises and seat vibrations. This show scene is slighter longer, for reasons to be explained shortly. Before and when it moves, there’s a creepy female voice saying “Hysteria takes over – don’t let the same fate happen to you...” The show scene where the swinging axes were now features a ring of fire. There’s an illusion that the track goes through this, but it doesn’t, as you drop. The needle pit has been replaced by a carnival bear (we’ve all seen them in cartoons; the ones with the funny hats). It is obviously reaching out with one paw to grab you and is angry. After many rerides, the more subtle details should become obvious, such as the clown in the bear’s other paw. The indoor MCBR is much slower, and stops as well. The strange voice says “Hysteria. It consumes you.” A spinning unicycle wheel then comes from above you when the car stops. This is followed by the girl screaming. Upon first experience, one or both of these effects will scare you. Again, after rerides, spikes on the unicycle wheel will become more blatant. As you move again, going off the MCBR you here the girl again: “Hysteria. *Extreme panting.” Hysteria. Be careful...” This is followed by the turn into the inline twist. As after this is inside, the walls have the ‘spinning effect’ (it was in X:\WTF’s old queue line and I think it’s in Hellgate), so hopefully you know what I mean. This confuses everyone even more so. The little bit leading up to the lift hill is still enclosed, just like the first 30ft of the lift hill it says. The strange girl comes up again, with “Hysteria. It changes you. Hysteria.” You then go up the lift hill. “Hysteria. You go mad. Or you die... Hysteria.” You then reach the top and she screams “HYSTERIA.” You then go down. The headchopper effect has stayed more or less the same, but with clown clothing tatters on it.. The rest of the ride is the same. No changes to it really. The only difference is the on board audio. The girl occasionally states “You’re changed. Hysteria.” “You’re getting weaker. Hysteria.” These are said very quickly. The brake run features the girl saying “You’re alive, unlike me. Hysteria. But it still changes you. Forever. Hysteria.” The exit stairs still have the TV screens. The ‘dead clown’, Ria is on there, as shown in one of the tents. Most people should pick up on the fact she’s the person speaking to you. There’s whispering of “Hysteria” there. For those lucky enough to get the right timing, you’ll see her stand up relatively quickly (but with great scarce about her), with her head still down, and then lunge at the TV screen. For anyone who watches this the first time not knowing about it, it will be a scary experience, with a destroyed face, etc. Think Hellgate video used a couple of seasons ago. The screen will go black and a final whisper of “Hysteria. It changes you.” is heard. The screen then changes back to her lying in the tent, for those who are late, ready for the next people to leave. That’s about it really. SAW store is changed to have ‘Hysteria’ written all over it. The police car is replaced by a circus stage, with actors on it during Fright Night, and then statues on there (that change weekly) during the rest of the season.Hope you enjoyed that essay. Sorry about only posting the logo; didn't have time for more.
  10. Mine is coming up tonight if things go according to plan....(Even though mine never do. )
  11. According to one comment someone injured their neck on the final inversion. Not that surprised if I'm honest though, if that's the case..
  12. Meh, Sutton is in Surrey making it amazing!
  13. Can't argue with that to be honest. Th13teen's went off without a hitch. SAW, anything that could go wrong, did.
  14. Technically, Saw was open on time. It opened on March 14th, just like Th13teen opened on March 20th. It just closed very quickly...
  15. What's to say Kobra isn't Chessie's main attraction this year? And by the sounds of the other parks, Cheesie is raking in visitors compared to everyone else!
  16. Loads of people are saying they have got really wet this season. I'm sorry, but it is really not that much different! Okay, I got a little more wet than the end of last season, but only a splash-worth's more. Compared to the beginning of last season, it is poor. I'm sorry, but this ride really needs sorting out!
  17. Couple of reasons for that. Rumba had no queue, Stealth was about 5-10 minutes. 2 out of 6 of us didn't want to go on Stealth; not its biggest fans. Also, Rumba lasts longer - unlike that big thingy they call a ride.
  18. Mine's in the making still. Not been feeling 100% this week, so haven't spent as much time on it. 2 week Challenge it is then?
  19. Went to the park today. Longest queue I had was to get my AP (well, the ticket for it...) at about 35 minutes, which resulted in me getting into the park half hour late...Didn't do SAW, Alive or Colossus due to my friends and I not wanting the queue in the rain for over an hour. Did pretty much everything else.Park was rather quiet for opening weekend, probably due to the rain. Anyways, Ride Count for the day:Mr Monkey's Banana Ride x1 (FIRST RIDE OF THE SEASON )Inferno x1 (Front seat)Rumba Rapids x3Teacups x1Stealth x1Detonator x1Loggers Leap x3Rocky Express x1CCR x1Samurai x1Flying Fish x1 (Front row)X:\ No Way Out x1 (Front Row)Rush x1Vortex x1
  20. This is the strange thing. She's 15 and she bought it on her own card (okay, I'm not 100% sure to be honest - I know she's got her own card, so I'm just putting 2 and 2 together there). I do know, however, that she DID get print at home. Yet she has got to have a parent for identification. For now, I'll just assume she has used her mum's card till I find out tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
  21. Seemed like the most appropriate place to put this.A friend of mine booked her ticket online today for Saturday and choose the Print at Home option. However, because she's under 16, apparently her mum has to be there with her when she goes through the gate for 'identification purposes'. I'm foreign to the whole book online idea, so does anyone know if this is standard procedure or anything, as it does seem a bit pathetic..Cheers.
