    This Or That

Gun, but only if it is a Machine Gun. :(Bob the Builder or Winnie the Pooh?
  2. Maybe it might be awkward for him to say to his friends "Oh, at 1 o'clock, I want to go and say hi to some random people I've never met before. And I'm pretty sure it will rather easy to see TPM, how many large groups of TP nutters will there be?
  3. As I said, Sunday's are awkward for me. I'll know closer to the time if I can go; but I probably won't be able to go. However, I'll be going on Saturday regardless.
  4. As far as I know, only topics in the Site Advertisements section are moderated before posting. Sorry, I was meant to say in the original TP Quiz topic that it had been moved - there is only one. As AeRo said, there is a plan for all the quizzes and challenges to sort out the Off Topic section, and he did know about me making a completely new topic for it.
  5. Hey, sorry everyone, but I forgot to say that the quiz has moved to it's own topic. If you could please re-post your answers in THIS topic noob230, then it'll be slightly easier for me. CheersLocked to save confusion. Sorry Josh, I meant to do this last night - AeRo
  6. Can you please add spoiler tags. They're done just like quotes, but with spoiler inside the brackets. I would demostrate, but I'm on my iPod, so it is a but awkward to.
  7. Hello, and welcome to the Thorpe Park Quiz. This should hopefully be a more formal and successful of the Thorpe Park Quiz Matty22 was running a while ago. So, here's the rules:-Each quiz will last one week.-In this time, you have to answer all the questions. Post your answers in Spoiler tags please.-No looking up answers, of course. -Each quiz will have at least 5 questions. There might be more in future Quizzes.-Each question has points. This means more challenging questions will be worth more points and easier ones will be worth less points. Points are in the brackets on the left. Right, here's this week's Quiz:1) Name two elements that were in the original plans for SAW - The Ride, but removed when the plans were revised. [2] (If you only give 1 correct element, you will receive 1 point).2) What month and year did Thorpe Park officially open? [2] (1 point for month and 1 point for year).3) What is the maximum number of boats that can be used on Tidal Wave? [2]4) What was the first name of the Flying Fish? [1]5) Who officially opened the park? [4] (Some points may be awarded for answers that are close).Enjoy.
  8. Okay, I said I'd give regenerating the quiz a go, so here goes.I said I'd try a slightly new format, so what will happen is each question will have points. This will mean easy questions will be worth 1-2 points, whilst harder questions will be worth 3+ points (depending on how much of an answer is required). This way, it will make the long-term quiz (if it actually happens) slightly more interesting. Points for each questions will be in by the side of the question. As per usual, reply with a post with spoiler tags. And, of course, no cheating. :(Each week should have 5 questions. 1) Name two elements (1 point for each element) that were in the original plans for SAW - The Ride, but removed when the plans were revised. [2]2) What month and year did Thorpe Park officially open? [2]3) What is the maximum number of boats that can be used on Tidal Wave? [2]4) What was the first name of the Flying Fish? [1]5) Who officially opened the park? [4]
  9. I've decided not to enter this week, as I only have a small select of water ride photos that are incomparable to the ones that have already been posted.
  10. Argh! I hate some people! One person in my year has just been offered a place at a private college for Years 12 and 13. He was my friend, and - of course - I gave him his congratulations. However, he seemed to turn into a snob in a matter of minutes. He now looks down on everyone and is getting more and more hypocritical. He feels that he is now going to be exemplar whereas I won't because I'm going to an ordinary college. He has been turning into a right b*d to be honest. I'll always be the first to say my school's not the best; that's the truth. However, he now feels that because I'm going to an ordinary college and he's going to a private one, he is now al of a sudden going to be brilliant! He feels that anyone who goes to a public school cannot be exemplar - yet he went to a public primary and secondary school! What's more, is he's now being as rude as physically possible to everyone, he even said to a close friend of mine: "You don't appear to be one to read, in fact, I doubt you read the back of cereal boxes!" Which he said to her face. (Just so everyone knows, my friend is in fact highly intellectual and is a bookworm. He just seems to think he is god's greatest gift now. ARGH!Then there's the chavs. Moaning at me for sitting in their space, even though I didn't know they sat there and I was told to sit "anywhere". Even more annoying is it wasn't their space, and they were just having a pop at me.. Then you get them taking the p*ss out of my hair because they don't like the look of it.Then there's the whole argument I regularly have about my French teacher. She is apparently doing so much for us, when all she does is moan and whine at us for not being good enough. She is more concerned about keeping her 100% A*-C record than about our learning. And now I learn I'm below target because I'm 'only' get a B, when I should be getting an A so I can get an A* in the summer! How pathetic!!Which bring me onto my finally rant. School is just getting more pathetic. I mess up on my Science exams (which I fully take into account) but those grades are my currently working at grades now. So instead of getting As / A*s that I deserve, it looks like I'm working at a C! Yet, if I was able to do those exams when it was just those exams I had to concentrate on, I'd be fine. Mock exams are just way to much in such a short space of time!Rant over.
  11. It appears to be a new feature - it was not on the previous Challenge.
  12. Hi everyone. I'll get straight down to the point: I have made my own little site, obviously known as Thorpe Park Informer (TPI for short). Why? Well, I was slightly bored and I just said "Hey, let's make a website." I decided to make one using webs.com; I felt it was the best one. Some may slate me for making a Thorpe Park fansite when I'm a member of this forum and SouthParks, but hey, it's only a small thing on webs.com. I added a forum for some reason, obviously because it will be the best site ever . Seriously, just added it for the sake of adding to be honest. I know that at the moment it is a bit bare, but hey, it's a start. Photos, links, etc. will follow sooner or later. http://thorpeparkinformer.webs.com/I'd love to hear all thoughts, comments, criticisms, etc.
  13. Here's my entry, just in the nick of time. Everything is there. Explanations, reasons, themes, ideas, etc. It's kinda like a Press Release and a plan combined together, but oh well.EDIT: I know that there's a lot of red underlines where thrillseeker isn't a real word. Also, I know I spelt Chessington as Cheesington. (Many thanks to James6 and AeRo for putting up with me - I've be such a pain for this Challenge. )
  14. Again, that has made me laugh. No offence to you or anything, but as I said, I always laugh when someone says something like that. But hey, if that's how committed you are to the park, good on you! Probably would have been. Sorry bout the misunderstanding.
  15. You say that now, but a lot of people have said "I always have loved (whatever) and always will..." and it never lasts 'forever'. Not saying you will hate it later, but it always makes me laugh when people say that. There's nothing wrong with a pessimistic and, at times, cynical view of the park. It is what makes any forum more interesting. Imagine how boring this forum would be if you didn't have people like people saying the park was **** and everyone saying the park was great.

    Th13teen

I think what T0M meant was the actually ride itself, excluding all theming, plot lines, etc. The bare ride with no theming whatsoever basically. I would be tempted to agree, but not knowing the full extent of the ride and the cars mean I wouldn't yet agree. If that makes sense..
  17. Good Points- Wide variety of rides from different manufacturers. - The best collection and variety of flats in the UK, probably one of the best in Europe.- Improving reliability.- Audio (when it works) is good overall.Bad Points- Poor theming.- Not the best atmosphere.- Audio hard to hear.- General look and feel of the park isn't great.- Ever increasingly ridiculous marketing promotions.
  18. How will this week's results be decided? Will it be another regular vote, or are you and 'the board' going to decide the winner? Or a combination of both somehow?
  19. Yeah me again. Though you're probably sick of me asking questions, I've got one. When we present the idea, can we do it like a Press Release? IE - Give the Bird's Eye view, then some 'marketing' explaining everything. If so, I'll try not to go too off the subject - so no need to worry about that. :PTa.EDIT to below comment: Cheers. Got my idea written down, and will slowly work through it during the week.
  20. Just to confirm, are we allowed to replace a land / area if we want to?
  21. Just out of interest James, do you vote? Or do you remain as impartial as possible? :PI also think there should be a prize. The winner of each challenge receives a Premium Annual Pass from James himself. Seriously though, isn't winning The Challenge prize enough.

    Your Thorpe Park

If you put a roller coaster on Treasure Island, it won't be near anything else - that is what I meant. With SAW and Stealth especially, there was a ride in close proximity to act as a queue eater. With a Treasure Island coaster, there wouldn't be. That's what I meant.Would you really trust Thorpe with a world's first B&M? Thorpe aren't known for being the most reliable. B&M firsts aren't the most reliable (look at Air for example). Thorpe are cursed when it comes to opening a new coaster. Look at SAW and Stealth. The first half of the season, they had quite a bit of trouble. So, honestly, I'd be more than a bit worried over a B&M first at Thorpe.

    Your Thorpe Park

Then have an extremely popular coaster, by itself, with no queue eaters nearby? In my eyes, not the best idea. Would probably be nearly as expensive as the three rides if you take everything into account. Also, a world first B&M? With Thorpe's reliability?

    Your Thorpe Park

Bah, I'm bored..2010) SAW Alive opens. Thorpe does more daring promotions that push the boundaries of what they can do. They aim to be more 'extreme'. Treasure Island coaster announced for 2012. A Splash Battle and a new flat ride announced.2011) No new rides. The space occupied by MHFS becomes a small scare house. Basically, people go in and some (albeit not great) scares happen. Just designed to fill the space and occupy guests for 5 minutes. Not much else.2012) New coaster opens, along with the Splash Battle and the flat. Don't really know what coaster; not that important for the sake of this though. Splash Battle would be a family ride. The flat would be another 1.3m flat to act as a queue eater.2013) Hotel opens, as planned. Nothing exceptional exciting happens. More work on promoting the park.2014) The scare house from 2011 (which was only intended as a semi permanent solution to fill space) is replaced. Something similar to a climbing wall, by the fact it is interactive, but something a little more interesting - if you get what I mean. Half way through the season, a new coaster is announced for 2016. Situated on one of the new islands, it is going to be bigger than the height ceiling, hence the slightly early application. They should be able to build a new coaster of they want, if what I've heard about the Stealth agreement thing is true.2015) Nothing new ride-wise. Completely new entrance. Great in-park promotion for the new roller coaster.2016) New coaster opens. Queue eater opens nearby. 2017 onwards) SAW contract runs out in 2019 and isn't extended, meaning the ride is rethemed basically and Alive closes (though, depending on the popularity of the park and the attraction at time of closure, the park may retheme it). 2019 sees X replaced as well as Slammer (or whatever they have there) for a new coaster.Note: Was a bit lazy (even though I'm bored), so attractions that would have been replaced / updated / removed I haven't mentioned, as well as all the FN stuff. More just focused on the new stuff.
  25. I think the pull factor of the ride depends on how much they go into advertising it on TV, radio, etc. Internet promotions are good and all, but it is TV and radio that tend to be the main pull factors.
