  1. Great video of the ride in it's opening year, Some footage of Runaway train too. Credit goes again to British Theme Park Archive.
  2. Great interview. Looking forward to what he plans. It really is useful having someone with so much history in the park in that role!
  3. Or the rockwork beside the main drop of Dragon Falls that hasn't existed for numerous years now in their adverts!
  4. Some nice footage of Thorpe park from 1998. No sound.
  5. It was a misprint from the very start as this has been brought up before. The 196 metres meant to say 19.6 metres. Shame it isn't 196 metres though, that would require decades of digging with the parks height restrictions :-))
  6. Would the rides fit on the small patch of grass next to Depth Charge, maybe they will go there?

Yes, crazy to think that used to be the norm and what's sad is your mention of four minutes is not an exaggeration, sometimes it's longer! The old trains didn't have belts to be fair and from what I remember all the restraints used to just fling up when released and if they didn't they were light to lift.

And not forgetting how the old trains used to dispatch in no more than 40 seconds on three train operation! Never used to faff pulling into the station stopping several times before reaching its final position. Who remembers the unique sound the trains used to make pulling into the station?
  9. Awesome. looking forward to following this more than SW8. Confirmed to reach 100kmh. strange that the construction 2018 site still says 80kmh.
  10. I believe Saw Alive only remains because if the significant amount invested in what was supposed to be a year round attraction. I may be wrong but I can't see it going anywhere. It's an easy option for them to just leave it there.
  11. It's actually Saw music, called Baptism, by Charlie Clouser, I'm sure I've heard this play around the park in previous years, not just at loggers leap.
  12. Would say Vampire, but also went on the looping star at dreamland which was scarier so probably have to say that.
  13. Blizzard was £11 when I went last year!!!
  14. Olympia looping awesome, especially at the back. such a shame that it uses those OTSRs as it would be even more awesome. Can confirm it costs £9.
  15. Inferno has got better as the years have gone by, I have grown to like it and its actually my favourite coaster at Thorpe now. Of course Nemesis still wins out of the two though.
  16. Nope. It uses a standard looking coaster train and follows a mostly flat coaster style track with drive wheels. It's a brand new ride rather than a retheme.
  17. Tokens (they are actually paper receipts)
  18. Yep the water Tower, signage and queue effects worked most of this year. In terms of effects they have tried harder this year. I've also seen more consistent days of mist working on Inferno and Smoke on Stealths launch. It all makes such a difference to the day out.
  19. It hasn't been used in about 6/7 years. They brought it back for Swarms opening day and then a few years later they got everyone's hopes up when the screen was added saying it was being brought back but instead it only used a snippet of it and the Thorpe theme (Quantum) playing overkill between the sections. Most of this year it has been silent.
  20. Shocks me year after year that at the start of the season the condition of the fences, ride signage, weeds etc are the same as before. if family run theme parks like Paultons and BPB can keep these things looking fresh I don't understand how Merlin doesn't.
