Yep - I wouldn't even consider it at £40... I did question it at £18 but like Josh says - it's bloomin' heavy and does feel "quality" - I couldn't tell you the last piece of merch I bought prior to my Smiler goodies... maybe a reduced Colossus mouse mat about 10 years ago?! I just don't normally buy merch, or ORPs either for that matter - personal preference and all that! I bought the cushion because it matches our sofa so would look good in our flat. Having a bit of involvement with The Smiler because of supplying reinforcement steel there, perhaps I felt a little more inclined to buy something... that said, I did the same for SAW, Thirteen and Swarm but obviously wasn't impressed enough with their merch to buy any - maybe I was marmalised by Smiler Shop TV

I can't really grumble at the price of the food and the quality at Merlin parks from what I've tried... have had a kebab from Thorpe which was nice, rotisserie chicken from Legoland which I thought was particularly good, bacon cheeseburger from Alton Towers which tasted fresh and a "decent" burger... I don't have a MAP but even without, I didn't think the prices were a rip off particularly. On a different note - I bought a Smiler cushion and paperweight from Alton in October because they were marked down - the paperweight was £18 reduced from £40 (can't believe people bought them at that price!) and the cushion was £15.

I'm sorry I just really don't get this at all... they could do with a few more high throughput rides instead of another hotel. Revamp Bubbleworks... sort out the queue line for Vampire... Of course, if any of this happens as well as the hotel, I'll take it back. 2014 is certainly the year of the "hotel" for Merlin...

THIS. The amount of "smaller things" £15m on a new coaster could fix and make for happier guests... and happier guests mean guests that are more likely to spend out on ORPs, food, merchandise... and come back!

My view on the meets echoes what has been said already - if you are considering going, just go! Think I only went to 3 last year - well, two and a half as I went to the meal of one of the Thorpe trips! - the other two being Stealth and Swarm photoshoots - but thoroughly enjoyed myself on all, even if I am the ripe old age of 30 now As to trips for next year - I have every intention of going to good old Guildford - and if I'm training back, will be happy to go for a few drinks in the evening should anyone fancy it! Paultons Park is just down the road from me now and haven't been for probably 20 years so am keen for that! pluk has been gently persuading me that I should go to the MOS night in June at Thorpe (think it's because I'm older innit ) so will keep an eye out for plans for that! Other than that, Thorpe opening and CwOA meet are possibles too - I should maybe consider finally buying a MAP this year

Haha, nah that one was about so called "friends" at somewhere where she worked! I've been to Chesney Hawkes' house because of Becky so I think I can die happy now Maybe I made a typo in the previous comment and referred to something German....!

What a brilliant idea this thread is I would like to add to it to say how flipping awesome Sainsbury's Taste The Difference Triple Chocolate Cookies are. Give them a go, £1.65 well spent (they were on offer at £1.00 a while ago and damn that marketing, because I'm hooked haha) Yum!

Yep very unappealing this year, Zoo Days http://www.chessington.com/plan-your-trip/festive-zoo-days.aspx There is a new Christmas walkthrough attraction I suppose....? No mention of Hocus Pocus Hall. I think if you go not expecting too much from the day you'll be alright! I don't think it would hurt them to open a couple of smaller rides in my opinion!
