I'm hoping to take advantage of this tomorrow, so finger crossed it is ongoing!

I guess if someone has a "free" Thorpe Annual Pass, when they return they are more likely to spend on food, sideshows, photos etc. - which is arguably where Thorpe make most of their profit?

I've always found it interesting to read up on ride accidents - not because I'm morbid (although that is open to speculation ), but for some reason I just find it interesting. I much prefer reading about accidents that had no fatalities. Generally I'm not very interested in the mechanics of a ride, but when they go wrong I found myself wanting to know why and such.
So thanks pluk for continuously posting in this thread! It means lazy people like me don't have very far to look.

Why fastrack is being sold now, when Towers 'said' that it wouldn't be happening until a few months after the Smiler has opened At least there is a limit, but I dread to think how much this will affect the queue time for the main queue.
Had the chance to ride the Smiler on Thursday, after it spiting me a few times when trying to plan a trip to Towers (not easy when you live down south and have to consider petrol and hotel costs.) And I was very surprised with how smooth it was, for a Gerst considering most Gerstlauers I have ridden nearly always give me a headache or pain on my shoulder area. Loved the whole ride experience and it has made it's way into my top 3, Nemesis is still number one in my eyes!

The main thing is when the ride failed, it failed in a safe state and nobody was hurt and everyone got off safely. So credit to Huss for the design of it keeping the guests safe. Why the technical services team couldn't release the guests I'm sure will be fully investigated. As for the ride breaking down, these things happen.
What is unacceptable is Chessington not having the ability to free and get the guests down for a ride they have owned for 20 years. No park should have to dial 999 when a ride breaks down.
There were some good pics and I loved the video of the fire fighters cutting out a guest filmed by another guest using their phone... tut tut
Now Chessington tend to give you the odd priority pass when things go wrong, this will bring the mother load of passes!

I'm not sure whats worse, the people who haven't ridden it and calling it rubbish or the people who are dismissing it because its a Gerstlauer. Enthusiasts, for people who are supposed to love theme parks and rides are the most fickle and narrow minded people of the lot sometimes.

I do know there is no washing machine... It was a micky take...

It was obvious that 23rd May was going to be tight... I don't know why they didn't just say June and be done with it, and let the ride settle in and make sure everything is 100% OK.
Wouldn't fancy being on Guest Services at Alton Towers over the next few days
Check out their Twitter feed - I don't think telling people that there are 50 other rides and attractions ad nauseum is going to appease people who can only visit once a year or have had their trip planned for ages!

With a schedule so tight and having only visibly started multiple - train testing over the past couple of days, I'm sure this WAS foreseen as being a possibility that the thing would not open for Thursday. If it were to have opened tomorrow I'm sure it would have received great praise for opening so soon after so little multiple train testing.
Anyway. It will open soon nonetheless and it should be an awesome ride.

RR was just jealous of everyone elses scaffolding and wanted in on the action.

As we know Chessington have stripped this right back ready for redevelopment and invited ideas to be submitted by visitors.

I have pretty much no idea where you'd even start to come up designs of this quality, I do hope Chessington take these ideas at least a little seriously and incorporate elements into the final build.
Anyone here come up anything they'd like to share?

The feel I've got from all the advertising is that it is very clinical. You wouldn't get massive posters in a psychiatric clinic, so I think white walls fit the theme quite well.
