  1. I bet it's a lot easier for the parts to come in from the same country rather than across the entire Atlantic... Plus I'm sure Tussauds at the time were probably quite stumped on cash especially when Thorpe was the pet project at the time...
  2. When Nemesis goes, there will be Katun and Oz'Iris, and by the time they go there'll be new rides to take up the mantle... I'll be sad when Vamps gets killed too, purely from the nostalgic point of view though...

    The Blade

Let's not pretend that Submission and Ripsaw were ever considered major flats... Rewriting history is not a good choice from this perspective... I can't even remember what other major flat has even been removed in the past few years either... Towers has never been the best for support rides anyway, even when Dynamo and Boneshaker existed...

Crash 3 Let's hope they can push a Crash Team Racing remaster whilst we're at it...

    The Blade

Sure when Buccaneer had this happen to it recently there was little to no reaction about it... I doubt Blade is on the chopping block anymore since the SW location changed and seemingly all the enthusiasts were desperate to save it the other year...
  6. But it's clearly not poor for this use as it reaches similar figures of speed and acceleration (obviously a smaller ride needs a lower speed to go over the top)... And also Intamin and PA would've chosen hydraulics since they already know about them, but they didn't, and as much as I take the mick out of Intamin they are the professionals here... As for rider experience, go ride Taron (or iSpeed, or as a novelty, wait until you ride this) before going on about how unsuitable LSMs are for this project... As for the use of brake fins, probably there as a failsafe system to ensure in case of rollbacks or power failure that it actually stops...
  7. Or it might be because LSM launches aren't wasting tonnes of energy in comparison and they can create just as much a good launch experience? Like, iSpeed's launch is pretty damn fab, as are pretty much most LSM/LIM launches... Let alone that the acceleration is bound to be completely indifferent comparatively (110 in 5 secs versus 120 in 4 secs)... Which is about 10m/s2 against 13m/s2, so that kinda also disproves that the system can't accelerate the train to similar levels... There's also the trend of hydraulic systems being shunned recently, the last one was Formula Rossa and that was 5 years ago now... Comparing it to the US equivalents is amusing too, given most European coasters are shorter and slower yet often are highly rated than their counterparts over the Atlantic... Saying things like LSM is poor launch technology is just daft though...
  8. Please tell us more about this poor launch technology and your opinion on it...

    Wicker Man

If it's based off the Nic Cage version that it'll be fab
  10. Hmmm might be the main issue, especially given that the boats aren't that easy to get in/out of and general guest reactions to flooded boats (something only Storm Surge seems to have issues with)...

Where are these pictures and why is no one posting links to them?
  12. Wonder how much difference would be made if the conveyor worked like all the others in the world and constantly moved, or would it be too dangerous for us?
  13. As if the closure of a kids play area started the downfall of a themed area... Or an unthemed fairground ride being removed...
  14. Are the rumours still that this is going in Florida's kids area? Wonder if they'll be all the same things at the three parks or different in some ways... Hope for the latter tbh but doubtful... Best hold off Florida until this is built then...
  15. I hate the perception that wooden coasters are noisy... That's more outdated than the ride type... Thorpe would be more likely to get a RMC though...
  16. Expedition GeForce is over rated...

    Logger's Leap

There was an old proposal for a GCI where Saw now lives... Though I'm more approving of a replacement water ride...
  18. I'd assume it was either Depth Charge or the more likely candidate of Loggers back in 1996ish... Biggest ride on park back then too, and the only rides I was unable to get on were Calgary Stampede and X:\\NWO... Jesus I'm old...

  20. 2019 is the next big addition, they kinda announced that the other day as well but no mention of what it is aside from being big...
  21. You've got an entire world of possibilities, more than Blackpool in the realm of creds...
  22. Everyone has that emotion, that plus 1 attraction you've queued an hour for expecting a dull or boring experience, when suddenly mid ride a moment of pure excitement erupts for a few seconds before the ride resumes it's rather bland affair with life... What are your standout moments of awful/dull/average rides? This could be any part of any ride... To start off, the tunnel dive on Vampire and Runaway Train are both memorable moments on bang average rides... Baco's awfulness is at odds with the launch sequence... Most Intamin coasters have that fantastic first drop then meander for ages... Let's try and have some proper discussion eh?

    Logger's Leap

But I thought Thorpe wanted to bring more families to the park? And treating Twitter responses as the official line? Never a good idea with the distinct lack of communication between departments...
