  1. I guess colour wise it had to something quite neutral to stop it clashing as it's going to interact with the existing colours of so many other attractions. The more I see of this the more I love it.

    Wicker Man

That looks really weird, doesn't it? Like it thinks it's heading into a final break run, but it's actually really early on. Not worth paying too much attention to the speed during testing I know, but even imagining it sped up considerably it still looks like a pretty crap coaster. Spends a lot of time doing not a lot, which is really bad on such a short ride.
  3. Saw the much lauded Shape of Water a couple of weeks ago. It's properly properly weird human / humanoid lizard love story, and why not I suppose? Odd, but it is weirdly compelling and beautiful too. I really enjoyed it, but am surprised it's getting such mainstream recognition. Another screen unseen next week, thinking Ladybird or I Tonya. Such excitement.

    Wicker Man

Sounds awfully convenient, and not in keeping with Merlin's previous efforts with spurious claims. I personally think it's pretty hilarious, good work that geek! Terminator Salvation had proper fire effects on a woodie a decade ago, proper up close feel it on your face fire blasted at you. It is utter BS of a claim.
  5. Maybe... We've had a half built Creams in Brentwood High Street for about 5 months, taunting me daily with what might be.
  6. Not it a rumour, confirmed by the park. Regardless, how on earth do you come to that conclusion?!
  7. It'll be a shame not to get to ride WickerMan this year, but I won't be if this lunacy remains. Not worth my effort trecking up from Essex, and I'd begrudge giving them any money. It's really saying something when you are so shit you cannot even entice a rollercoaster enthusiast to a new rollercoaster, a woodie they've been waiting for for decades at that.

    Wicker Man

It contains about 2 seconds of POV. Doesn't seem like much, but it's about a quarter of the total ride time.

    Paultons Park

Not only do Paultons have their Peppa Pig extension opening this year, they are also making animal improvements with a 'Little Africa' area too. https://paultonspark.co.uk/blog/2017/12/12407/new-for-2018-at-paultons-park-and-peppa-pig-world Sounds good!
  10. I notice there's been close to zero speculation on what the new Walking Dead attraction will actually be. Still a presumption it'll be a retheming of X, but no idea how they are trying to achieve it. Lack of interest, or lack of anyone with any knowledge? It's unusual to know nothing about a development though.
  11. The rumours of B&M trying to develop an arrow/S&S like 4D variant of its wing rider were once so strong it's hard to believe they weren't trying it, but that was years ago now. Wonder if we'll ever see one? Have they ever spoken about it publicly?

Cheeky little train nosing its way out of the station three!
  13. - Love that video and the insights it gives - Love the whole concept of bring the park audio together with a consistent identity theme tune - Like that the classic ride themes have been incorporated into the new themes, if they had to be updated. Inferno and Collosus especially were strong enough already though, should have left them alone tbh. - Adore the opening countdown, have seen it myself and didn't know it was a thing - Unfortunately I don't like the actual theme they have running through it, sounds kind of childish somehow, like it would fit in better at Chessington. It doesn't have much sense of drama, as a melody, and worst of all it's very forgettable.
  14. Just come off my last night shift, bloke opposite decides this morning is the morning to chop up a months worth of firewood with his chainsaw. I appreciate it is me who's the odd one sleeping during the day, but Bill, put your f##king chainsaw away and take the morning off would you?
  15. By virtue of age I get a few older long gone coasters which many here wouldn't have been around for, like the beast, thunderlooper, Alton mouse, 4 man Bob and Alpine Bob Sled at Towers.
  16. Let me give it a shake . .. ... I'm between working nights, so unfortunately no way I can be there to find out.
  17. Whatever the actual necessity or otherwise for it to have been removed, i really am very sad about it. It was a fantastic experience, and one that I'll really miss next time I'm there. It's probably the first coaster that I've really cared about to go. Can only hold out a small hope it has been dismantled rather than demolished, and that someone with the ability or apatite to continue running it can take it on. Seems unlikely though.

Yeah, human face is looking up at you as you enter the drop into the structure, ram face is looking down at you as you come up towards it from the other side.

    ...Of The Year

Wasn't there a thread for this once? Edit - yeah, this one. Moved! Album - Melodrama - Lorde. A few outstanding tracks on there, and all of them are at least decent. Song - Everything Now - Arcade Fire. Was obsessed with it for much of the summer. Green Light was probably me actual favourite though, but I wasn't giving two prestigious best of's to Lorde. TV Show - Halt and Catch Fire - Amazon/AMC. Much underappreciated fantastic show. Deeply sad that it's over, but loved that it was allowed to come to an actual conclusion rather than being cancelled mid season and incompletely like so many American programs do. Film - Babydriver. Proper enjoyable romp, loved the musicality of it. Really enjoyed the bizarre Brigsby Bear too. Future Excitement - Icon. Great to have multiple decent sized projects to look forward to but sorry SW8, Blackpool's future looks more exciting.

  21. Reading this immediately after the Paultons Christmas event review is infuriating. Chesington / Merlin are just awful, aren't they?
  22. Still underrated tbh! Tight on the best new attraction for 18, I think it went the right way though? Tough one.
  23. Great name! I remember that in Australia, think it was on here a few pages back. Looks like one to avoid all round!
  24. I'd forgotten it was like that, and I think it was a bit of a confusing set up which probably didn't help. If only they had something like an arena, with a large performance area surrounded by stadium seating... I didn't really mean to quote you to be honest, but I can't get the box to go away, so hi BaronC! Yes, entertainment beyond putting people on rides would be good on a longer day. Or any day really. Not hopeful though!
