  2. I'd call that genuinely good value. Wish I lived a bit nearer to make it worth my while.

I don't think Towers would want a structure of the size of the black hole tent with existing planning permission to be removed without a replacement building going in its place, as far as I am aware it is much harder for them to get permission for large buildings than it is rides and indoor space can be very valuable to the park. As the black hole tent already exists a precedent is set for that bit of land so getting planning permission for a replacement building, even if it is considerably larger, shouldn't be a problem. So I think:- The application is for the tent to be removed and replaced with another large building that will better suit Towers needs.- If this building is for SW7 it will be therefore be a largely indoor coaster, but with the odd shape of the outline some elements will stick out the side of the building. This also solves much of the noise problem.- If it is not for SW7 it is probably a speculative application to plan for a large indoor attraction in the future which they can sit on for a while (like the hotel applications).

It does, but consider the application is for the black hole site and a large amount of space around that site, including in towards submission and out into the trees the other side. The planning outline is almost exactly the same size as Nemesis.
  5. Oooh, I like it. Hours of fun. 17/01/2002 - 5 year extension to detonator. 2007 - No further extension applied for? Odd. 06-06-2005 - Want to built a massive coaster? On the greenbelt? Yeah, no problems! 26-07-2005 - An illumanated bus stop advert? On the greenbelt? No way!
  6. I hope they leave that scaffolding up, it really adds to the theme like on Th13teen. ;)Anyone know how old the pics are? Still a lot to do, but lookin awesome so far.

The amount of animal cruelty adds on the TV too do my head in, again the cost must be huge, and I'll always change channels when those or the African kids ones come on. I don't need that forced into my eyes over and over again and I'm not going to give them money to fund more and more adverts.Add to that, those plastic sacks for clothing charities that come through the door nearly every day (literally, I get 4 or 5 of them a week). Aside from most of them pretending to be from charities but are actually dodgy businesses, what a waste and cost to produce and deliver all of those. I'll tell you what, if I've got some clothes to give I'll take them to the charity shop or clothes bank, I don't need your crap constantly falling through my letter box, thanks.
  11. Best Dark Ride: Duel, Alton TowersAshamed of you all.Other than that, mostly agreed.
  12. Would guess the fastrack merge point would be before the queue split, like Air.

I feel like being lynched, so here goes...What a load of pretentious old crap. Your not Michael Jackson, stop trying to make a film for your little pop songs and just knock out the standard promo video they deserve. Not a looker either, is she?I suppose the actual song is OK though.

I do remember watching my Dad and his mates go on it, but I was too small at the time. Then a few years later the very same ride turned up at BemBom Brothers in Margate where I got many many goes on it, I loved and and am sure I still would. Such a shame the classic simple rides so rarely get a look in at modern parks, things don't have to be extreme new concepts to be awesome.
  15. I've won two free tickets on the Alton Towers facebook competition.

Since the upgrade I get the full version of the website on my phone which is a bit cramped and cumbersome. Does the phone version not exist any more, or is it just me and my technological uselessness?

^ Building profit into any system can not make it cheaper as it is an extra cost. Simple. Privatisation: makes me .Anyway, She's pleaded not guilty. Can't wait to hear what her defence will be!UPDATE: She didn't actually enter a plea so is remanded in custody until the new year. Merry Christmas!!
  21. And it is nothing like as high as depicted (that actual view is not even close to being possible), has a big colourful pyramid as a back drop instead of a tidal-esque disaster scene, has no water blankets on the way down, the boats don't come close to splashing up the sides like that and the queue line squirters worked for about 20 minutes ever. And the riders have smiles on their faces ;)Yes, a joke of a comparison I know, but I really would take artists visualisations with a massive pinch of salt. I don't know where the cut off point is where these things become fraudulent, but that SS one is really pushing it. They provide an unrealistic expectation of what they are offering with the sole purpose of selling some tickets. A dangerous game to play - Winter Wonderland anyone?Anyway, I would LOVE the fire effects to actually happen. The fire was a bit wasted on X2 and hardly noticeable, but on Salvation it's incredible. If it is done as the pic suggest from the engine then that would be awesome as you would be flying towards it. But, considering the cost of gas now, and that the same park would not run or maintain a fire effect that went off every 15 minutes as opposed to every 2 or 3 minutes here, I'm not holding my breath.
  22. Look at this huge SURGE promotional poster I came across, which clearly shows it's really tall with immense theming, water squirters that work and a massive tipping bucket, can't wait!Wouldn't pay too much attention to artists impression promo material tbh.
  23. No, probably about £115 profit. How generous of them.
  24. From the developer diary..... So it turns out what you need to work in this industry, more than anything else, is charisma. :DAnd the mystery of the track in the lake explained.
