Seen three films in the last week (what else is there to do when you're off the drink?!), a mixed bag... Selma - Comes out in a couple of weeks, saw it last week at an Odeon Screen Unseen, where you book a ticket but have no idea what you'll see, only that it is not out yet. I love this idea; this is not a film I'd have ever chosen to to go and see but this ticket put me in front of it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Clearly the story of Martin Luther King is not going to be easy going, and although I have issues with the part fictionalisation of real events it told the story of Selma and the black voting rights with what appears to be honesty in a way that's interesting to even someone with a limited interest in the subject as a whole. I know awards are just meaningless fluff, but Oyelowo not being Oscar nominated is pretty ridiculous. He is beyond outstanding. In To The Woods - Not a musical film in the usual 'film with some songs' style, this instead is a stage musical adapted for the screen and very much keeping the structure a stage production would have. There isn't a single line in the whole film that doesn't at least rhyme and pretty much the whole thing is sung. It felt so like a stage musical I kept going to clap at the end of the songs! A slight lull two thirds of the way through didn't stop me loving it. 9/10 Taken 3 - Nonsense of the highest order. but good fun. Taken 2 was pretty much a remake of Taken, but in another town. Strangely, Taken 3 is a remake of the fugitive instead. Full of mythbuster fodder of cars exploding for no reason after falling over, freight containers being launched off of the back of lorries and barreling down the road in minor accidents as if they are full of helium or on the moon, and technology that isn't even close to being real used to move the plot along. These physics bending things annoy me more than they should in a film that's not claiming to be real, but I can't help shaking my head every time they happen and found myself laughing at, rather than along with, the film a couple of times. 5/10
  3. Cheers for pointing it out, it's the same for everyone at the moment. The clever ones are aware and looking at it...

Well I thought it was a good week Mer! Up next Matt Creek...
  5. I can delete my vote? Well this looks like another year I won't be able to make it to my 'home' meet now.
  6. Don't even think about it. Something like that could be enough to trigger a rage induced murderous rampage in me.

Loving the choices so far... Me too! Think I could post a truly awesome 90's dance song every single day for a whole year without having to repeat any! And there's nothing guilty about A-ha, that song is a beaut!
  8. A thousand times no. It's all about the suspense.
  9. Whereas The Big One takes you on a thrill ride you will barely remember

    It's time to start rrrrrrunning
  11. Yeah, but Alton Towers have got some stickers for their lockers.
  12. Isn't that whole area a bit flat for rapids, would surely take a massive effort to get the gradients required? Rapids would be good I suppose but the place is screaming out for a solid coaster, ideally the two could come together and interact. I've always though the falls site could swallow up a nice interacting coaster too.
  13. I have no idea really, but it is still listed on the current shows section of their website. If it's Octonauts (and I've no reason to not believe everyone who seems to know it is) I really hope it does have some water element, although I'm not sure how it could sitting on that concrete base.
  14. Everyone's convinced it's Octonauts. The track looks to be exactly the same colour as the Tweenies text is written in on the Cbeebies website.
  15. If it is a Zierer, I really really hope it comes with that horrible alarm every dispatch.

Well if we can nominate ourselves... Muck
  17. Had been told Zamp with some certainty, but it looks nothing like any Zamp I can think of. But then it doesn't look exactly like any manufacturer I can think of off the top of my head. That Ziere is the closest by far. How about the heme? What matches that colour? Some people on other forums seem sure it's Octonauts. The clolur of the supports loks like it exactly matches the colour of the Tweenies title lettering to me.

They can't very well promote not using the loophole as all that would serve to do bring to the attention of people that the loophole exists and they'd use it. The loophole needs fixing, your reservation needs to be linked to your admission ticket somehow. It really is criticality flawed at the moment.

Matt and his other half... Beer! Gazing lovingly at her frothy head, by the look on Matts face I think the beer has just told him she wants to be inside him right now, the saucy little minx.
  20. It looks like I'm actually off on this date! If I'm off, I'm there; it is my local park after all. Also, I just might be able to get us a pretty good deal on the wrist bands...
  21. Looks like The Smiler. I hope they keep flooding, have bits falling off and gaps between the walls and the ceiling to keep them fully on theme.

It's very relevant though, isn't it. You couldn't simply add a bit of extra track and a block into the middle of the ride with any sort of similar layout or with destroying the flow, having a mid course block requires a hefty stretch of reduced pace so the brake can be safely used. You are looking at it a bit over-simplistically. I think its quite clear that R&R in its current form is not ready for any sort of major promotion or proclamation of queue-less theme park, so I can't see it being used as the 'new for 2015' promotion. I hope it never is in its current form, but that's for another discussion. I'm not expecting anything of any note next year, they only had a few months trading off of Angry Birds so that promo will continue. I wonder if that is actually the new pattern; one new addition at the start of the season, than something half way through the following one, then something at the start of the season after next. Get a season and a half out of each investment that way.

A longer coaster will reduce throughput if it doesn't have a block in it.
  24. It's coming along... (Tatenhill Aviation Facebook) These things really do look on top of each other, don't they?

Is this not just the funniest thing ever? Watching it over and over, chuckling away to myself. (from 15 seconds. Why won't things with a start time embed any more?) http://youtu.be/nTtFS2BtYvE
