  1. Top Tip. The 'Barrel of Laughs' floor dropping, wall sticking, fast spinning madness is a great ride for £3, do that instead of the overpriced tat around it.
  2. I don't know what I could contribute, but am happy to if I could be of any use. I think you would have trouble getting any cooperation with pretty much anyone in the industry with the ride accidents thing, it's not exactly something they are going to be keen to bring any attention to if they can help it. Unless you turn that on its head, start with something from looong ago (such as the the Battersea Roller Coaster incident) and set out to focus on all the things in place now that prevent anything similar happening again.
  3. England. As far as I know you can't get it here, or anywhere outside Austria.
  4. Great to see some old faces, some new faces, and discovering mulled wine with Amaretto. Will have to try to get along to more of these things in the future...
  5. Aww shucks, thanks all. Last few years trend suggests I'm getting less knowledgeable but funnier, could this be the onset of some sort of dementia?
  6. I still haven't found anywhere in my country where you can buy Almdudler, my favorite ever soft drink since a trip to Austria a couple of years back.
  7. That is a bit mental, in a good way, I think. Doesn't really go anywhere though, it displays all of its tricks in the first couple of minutes, then does the same thing for 10 more.
  8. I'm not saying that isn't happening, but has it been confirmed by the park?
  9. The top left option, Fungle site along the perimeter, would have been so much better. Damn those ghost monks.
  10. I wish people would stop saying the Paramount thing prevents this from being Dr Who, or any other BBC property for that matter. It really does not; it is not claiming to be exclusive and you can bet that whatever this is going up at Thorpe was signed on the line long before last week if it is an IP. Speculating is fun, but lets not jump to conclusions based on facts that don't exist.
  11. About as likely as any other Disney held property, ie zero.

I won't break my own rules and post music here when it is not my week, but the Thin White Duke remix of that is outstanding if anyone wants to look it up. Used to play it all the time in my record spinning days.
  13. If you are staying on resort the dining packages work out to be pretty good value with a decent choice of restaurants.

    2014:- A Mark9 love affair.

There are far to many flavours of Bols I want to drink in the future.
  15. I've not had a chance to ride any of the follow up variants of similar technology to judge, but in my mind from 10 years ago this was an actually perfect ride.
  16. There's never been a big wheel at Chessington before to my memory, and my memory goes back to the place being a zoo only!
  17. I think it is fair to say Alton's website has for many years concentrated on anything but the theme park itself; in the pursuit of promoting themselves as a resort they don't sell themselves on their biggest asset.
  18. Absolutely. I said pretty much the same thing as I got off of Bling for the first time.

... I mean, that is approaching a warn. I appreciate your honesty but seriously, don't subject us to anything like that ever again! Fully behind you with Call Me Baby though, a genuinely brilliant tune in my book.

Well in that case, sign me up. I had a go last time, even if I wasn't quite sure what was going on I still tried! I'll have more idea this time...
  21. Considering that nearly all entrance tickets are discounted, a fair portion of the season is now a 'special event', and the real cost of a day out is retail and fastrack, an annual pass is now a discount card really, isn't it? I don't have one, so I don't really care, but this is pretty disgusting isn't it? You shouldn't have to study the small print to find that an annual pass doesn't get you into the park for, you know, an annum.
  22. As I said elsewhere earlier... I am confident his announcement does not preclude other BBC rides happening elsewhere. We'll see...
  23. As that is a self congratulatory release, designed no doubt to lure investors, it will be making the most of the details of this deal. There is one important word missing; 'exclusively'. If the deal they had stuck prevented the BBC selling the IP's elsewhere you can be pretty sure it would say so, I wouldn't say it discounts other developments elsewhere. This reads to me more like an agreement in principle rather than an actual deal, which would make sense considering the park is far from a certainty. The BBC would be nuts to hold off on all other potential revenue for so long on the off chance this thing actually goes ahead.
