Yes, forgot to mention I like the further improvements since AP day. The laser from behind on the lift hill is great and the side lights seem to be on a cycle that leaves them on less frequently and never static which is much better. They still seem pretty random and it would be good if they could be timed to the ride vehicles instead, but that is probably an unrealistically complex thing to do with what they are working with.

Unless they've painted sonic surely there's some filter on that pic that makes it look so garish? Sonic is not that colour. Also, Alton with a hidden Micky?
  5. One train operation was beyond painful yesterday, there were many things they were doing which exacerbated that underlying problem all across the park. I'll do a little trip report when I get a mo to explain more. The Swarm itself though seems to be running beautifully at the moment. Feels significantly faster than last year to me, so much so that if it turned out they'd changed the wheels or something else quite drastic I wouldn't be surprised, and it rides all the better for it. First noticed it on AP day but it wasn't a one off and felt just as good yesterday. Also LOTS of fire, I wasn't counting but seemed really frequent to me.
  6. I noticed yesterday, rumors of the fatheads demise may have been greatly exaggerated. They may not be appearing on anything new but there doesn't seem to have been any concerted effort to actually remove them. They still exist all over the place, on in store advertising, those 'text your comments' posters everywhere, on games stall advertising, on toilet signage, on the exit bridge overheads. Basically everywhere. Would be nice to see everything move to the new style, I like it a lot.
  7. Quantum yesterday was mental. It went normally one way then tried to go the other way but couldn't make it over (watching the go before us it never did make it over that way), went the first way a couple of times again then tried the opposite way a second time, just creeping over. It celebrated that victory to itself by absolutely flying in that direction for about 6 over the tops getting faster and faster, it was crazy and I loved it. Never had anything like it on there before.
  8. I would like to know... -When Chessington, Nemesis and Katanga was being planned and developed was there loads of market research like has to happen today before anything is funded, or were people like him and others involved simply trusted to do what was right? If, as I suspect, it's the latter... -Are there people within Merlin / the industry that are given that sort of trust and freedom today -Does he think the need to prove that things through market research rather than trusting the creative people leads to mediocrity?
  9. - People will be asked if they have any questions - No one will want to go first so there will be a long awkward silence - Eventually people will ask questions and they'll be the same ones asked a thousand times before. I joke. But having a couple of unusual or well thought out questions is probably a good idea because a lot of the stuff that crops up at these things is just embarrassing, geeks with rage about something. So wish I could get this off work, but no. Someone take a camcorder!
  10. A few more details from the Opa incident... http://www.channel3000.com/news/faulty-lap-bar-being-blamed-for-man-falling-from-roller-coaster/25181978 Sounds a lot like things not being put back together properly after maintenance, or maybe that's just a coincidence. Either way it seems the lap bar was able to fail for some reason or another. Zamperla spinning mouse by the way. No update on the mans condition sadly.
  11. I think rygr is saying the website is currently advising Scorpion Express as unavailable along with Skyway, so would seem it will not be open in the coming days.
  12. Oops, mean Thorpe. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Tapatalk
  13. Thorpe is an absolute shambles today, probably the poorest opperations I've seen in years, and that includes some very low ponts! They've just redeemed themselves a little by announcing they are staying open an extra hour until 18.00 hrs. But there are no excuses for what has gone before, I never heard so many people in one place moaning! A lot of unhappy puntets here.
  14. I have no actual idea (but was told by someone reliable) that those new rules apply to new builds only and are not enforced retrospectively, so old rides like this and loggers are happily throwing lake water over you. And as it goes straight back into the lake system I'm sure they wouldn't be allowed to dump large amounts if treated water in it.
  15. Dragon falls is looking good too. At one time it was crappy local fairs using pictures of big theme park rides on their adverts to entice you in under false pretences. Now it's the theme parks doing it!
  16. I think it's a great ad, it is fun and lively without being annoying and shows what are clearly some big ass rides being enjoyed by young and old. I'm sure an updated one with more being made of the angry birds will appear when the time is right.
  17. I wasn't there yesterday and I never saw it testing either, if that helps? Although if it is closed so as to not scare the new animals why would they test it at all? It's the big yellow metal clouds noisily floating by that'll scare them, not the people inside.
  18. I think you'll find this is more of a target than a rule. It is simply going to happen sometimes, you can't rule it out. But it is obviously undesirable and I think that is the point, it should not in itself dictate that three trains can not happen.
  19. I think it is fair to say there are consistently problems, things incomplete and things that should have been addressed at the start of every single season. Yes, there will be unforeseen problems that cause it, but are these things really unforeseeable? With such a long closed season every single year I've got to agree with DGC that it is pretty shoddy how incomplete and unprepared the parks are on opening, which from the available info seems to be mostly due to a lack of planning.
  20. Well yes, that is likely to be where they have gone shopping.
  21. Train three certainly was canabalised to keep the others running. If this return turns out to be true then Chessington have been out shopping for quite a lot of parts.
  22. and that's how you make a backwards launch exciting. Someone tell th13teens crypt. That looks like a fantastic family ride, just superb.
