  1. This topic is for driver less vehicle discussion. Anyone interested in giving the future a go? http://www.engadget.com/2016/05/13/driverless-pod-trial-london-sign-ups/
  2. I would prefer 3 inversions that flow with the ride rather than 15 inversions put in just to have 15 inversions. I strongly believe a ride should be judged as a whole and not just by one of it's stats.
  3. I was quite impressed with the skeleton turning into Jack Sparrow effect. Is it a peppers ghost? Unfortunately the ORP is a bit blurred at the start of it so you cant quite see how it is done.
  4. The best way to battle moron journalism is to not buy 'news' papers and to persuade your friends not to buy them.
  5. I'm not sure that means 50 steps as in stair case steps Nick. It says 50 steps unaided. To me reading that, I think that refers to distance.
  6. 13 opened on time BUT had a few things finished in the weeks after. Amusingly I heard that the queue line for 13 hadn't even been paved at 5pm the day before it opened. Thank-you for your empathy. Yes that's 90 quideroonies down the drain. But such is, pointless me winging. It just means that when the ride does open there is little chance of me affording to come down and do a live. It was the same for you guys when The Smiler failed to open over and over again. It worries me why Merlin keep making these schoolboy planning errors. If you have a project then you should be able to spec the time to do it. So you add buffer times and then baring a disaster, its ready for opening. If the last 2 huge projects Merlin UK underwent both failed to open on time and both of them sat in a limbo state of the users (us) not knowing the current state of the project then that just shows bad planning and project management. (not saying that I can do better). This seems to be my current battle cry - Come on Thorpe, we know you can do better.

    Mutiny Bay

No, the tavern is still open and happily supplying alcohol to those in need. EDIT: I have just found a pic of the area taken the other weekend. It shows the only part that is boarded up, which is the undercover food purchase and collection point. (p.s. yes I know gravity has broken, it was the hails fault.)

The courtyard wasn't closed last time I was there (last weekend), just the food outlet in the courtyard. The pirate stage is still in the courtyard.
  9. No.. 14 only relates to the number of people last year that thought Blair witch stroll through the copse was remotely scary.

As Terry Pratchett and Niel Gaiman said in Good Omens - - [p. 19/3] "[...] all tapes left in a car for more than about a fortnight metamorphose into 'Best of Queen' albums." This phenomenon, I personally believe, was one of the greatest driving forces behind the ipod and iphone taking over the main form of in car audio entertainment. p.s. if you have never read Good Omens then you are missing out!
  15. Peaj - The hills are alive... with the sound of muuuuuusiiiic Mer - Please stop singing, The only think that is protecting my ears from bleeding is this hood Peaj - but all I want to do is Siiiiiin <photo taken> ng
  16. Shhhh that's not meant to be out in the public yet. p.s. you were slightly incorrect, its meant to be called "Dark Flume, Duck Terra 18"
  17. I find it difficult to understand why the world wants to fragment more, we should be uniting together, human greed and xenophobia are terrible things.
  18. Re: Coming Soon - If you say a date then that date will be packed and all other days quiet, if you say soon, then people will not all aim for the same day.
  19. There is a reasonably interesting article over at gizmondo about the tech behind Universals screen based rides. Even though there was nothing there I didn't already know and it wasn't anywhere near detailed enough for me, it was still an enjoyable read whilst I just ate my lunch. http://gizmodo.com/how-the-best-rides-at-universal-studios-work-1762505782

That, my dear Han, is why 13 is one of my favorite rides. You get that regularly. The outside section lulls you into a false sense of meh-ness and you always hear - "was that it?" or "I queued 45 minutes for that??", and then those are the same people who are always laughing as you pull into the turnaround.
  21. It's impressive with so many people working together on a ride how little has leaked, OK we have had a few blunders, but way less than usual. Well done Thorpe. P.s. the above post was NOT intended to be sarcastic p.p.s The above sentence also isn't sarcasm - Damn no sarcasm in a post at all. Maybe I am ill.

    This Or That

Beer - (my beer alert pinged to alert me that someone on TPM had mentioned beer) Lobotomy or Being banned from all theme parks due to every time you sit on a theme park ride you become extremely weak bladdered.
  23. My office had a gas leak earlier. I simply opened a window and vowed never to eat beans for breakfast again. No need for either fire brigade or evacuation.
  24. The whole ceremony is here (its much longer than the fireworks bit)

The outside section is to lull you into a false sense of security. You always get the same reaction as you come into the crypt from new riders.. was that it? That is the intended reaction.
