  1. who's this LG95? Going to bring my autograph book for you to sign though maybe a carrot if you behave too
  2. That day is also right in the middle of the Easter holidays. But Sundays are usually quieter than Saturdays. A lot of the time Thorpe opens at 9:30 unadvertised so plan for that. And assuming everything is ready at opening, you can easily get 4 of the big 5 coasters done in 2 hours. Head to Colossus and Saw first, then walk round to Inferno and Stealth. People still flood to Swarm first thing, but because of that it is usually a lot quieter in the afternoon, or leave it till close if needed. You can join the queue up till 6, as long as you're in it you'll get to ride! All lockers at Thorpe are paid for (unlike Uni which offers free lockers on the rides you can't take bags on) so instead all rides have somewhere for you to place your bags so you can carry it around all day!
  3. I'm not sure if they can do it in Florida. The contract there is just messy and I think they're more looking at putting Marvel in over at Epcot so that tower might be safe. Plus they wouldn't dare close it atm as it's one of like 3 rides open! I can see them doing it to Paris without a doubt. Especially as that's an actual clone of California's model and there's always Marvel rumours about that park! Is a huge shame but all we can hope is that it isn't good basically. The worst thing is that whole "experience it in the dark" rubbish. It was literally the same ride even with the audio but all the show scenes turned off. What is the point? One positive, I think the new tower will look cool.
  4. I'll do everything other than Air Hop
  5. Banned cos I have the power now... and you know what I think of your opinions
  6. I don't know re Mack, but they could have done Galactica. As Figment clearly know what they're doing so if they had only needed to focus on Ghost Train we could have had part one quality throughout. Considering there were meant to be 2 endings from the get go, and Thorpe didn't use the second one as it was bad is concerning as what we got was no where near good. I've heard another problem is Merlin like the ride. Thorpe don't.
  7. Welcome indeed! Now with added chocolate! Just in case I wasn't happy enough at this place And a Hard Rock. And boats! Let's start with the original It's still an ugly entrance street. And has the worst positioned ride ever. Not going to lie. This area needs work. Do still like this ride Woosh And Optimus is still warning us of something I'm sure They'll keep us safe though! The M.I.B will save us too San Francisco currently home to ZERO attractions. Do like this new viewpoint you can get too thanks to the Springfield expansion. Whilst we ignore KidZone here's Krusty! Home time already But I haven't been on The Mummy yet Ohh phew. It's the amazing Diagon Alley! New for my trip I'm glad this land has scared Disney. It is stunning. You can't see anything other than DA from it. Hidden paths, shows, endless shops, food, half of it is covered. And when the dragon roars 90% of people stop to get this shot. It is amazing. All lands need this level of detail and depth. Gringotts is stunning too. And the ride is great fun But I don't want to ruin it with photos. So we'll get the train to Hogwarts And at Hogwarts we are! The key to Universal's current success. Fantastic Beasts And a hut to find them in Plus a castle for good measure! They also have this dinosaur place But more importantly, this lovely view It's such a beautiful park And now has another gorgeous thing to ogle at. It's so intimidating and awesome looking The queue line is creepy, the gates are amazing. It is a very good all round attraction. Could do with some tweaks in places but another start to finish ride with a brilliant queue. But again, don't want to ruin it with lots of photos. So here is Dudley Do Right. Yes this still exists And this looks awful. Especially now they've gone and done... THIS! Hulk is back in a modern techno way Sploosh Here's some sexy dusk shots Suess is still awesome for kids The entrance is also lovely Going to be interesting to see what the 3rd parks icon will be CityWalk is cool too And has a groovy mini golf Studios looks lovely at night (as does Islands but it closed too early each day on our trip) Universal just always feels so much more relaxed to Disney. Their current investments are great and show no sign of stopping. Yeah the parks have their faults, but are clearly being dealt with whilst the resort expands at rapid fire pace. To Disney, do compete. Competition makes this industry exciting, ride wars are what push the boundaries and it's great that Disney seem to be investing heavily with big new rides/lands again. Till next time Universal!
  8. I believe a lot of the issue came down to Figment. Merlin loaded a relatively small company with both Galactica and Ghost Train. Such a small company that from what I know, they didn't start on Ghost Trains VR until Galactica was basically done and in testing. Especially as VR was a new thing for them too. It's a shame that with Galactica Merlin didn't use MackMedia as that would have been great!
  9. Key thing with Spiderman and FJ etc are that they have practical sets in between and special effects so it does depend on the balance. But when used well screens are a great way to enhance sets, give them more depth at a fraction of the cost and space used! As for VR, I see it as a good "add on" like at Europa. The VR is high quality, isn't something you have to do and adds a whole new ride basically. Galactica would work if it wasn't so unreliable, poor quality and a rushed story. But yeah it's a fad that will probably wear off even though Disney are apparently developing something for star wars land that will be a VR attraction. And if anyone can do it I'd have most faith in them.
  10. Looks like they're taking away the rest of the train track, would expand the area a nice bit for these small rides! Maybe the rocking tug will be moved to the left side of the first photo?
  11. Silver Star is a boring coaster. Mako is at least fun.
  12. As its been a long time and I have some time over Christmas I thought I'd finally do this one, only got back like 4 months ago... This to me is a homing beacon. See this and boom, happiness! We had a lovely view of Hollywood Studios fireworks too. And as that's basically the only thing there, woo first park done. SeaWorld is a gorgeous park I love just walking around it Woosh A wanna be Manta I still love Kraken. Love the way it loops around the park corner... And has a new distant friend! And a new sealion show! Great fun, prefer pirates but probably just for the nostalgia But Mako is what draws you here It's a really good fun ride, looks great around the park And has some good theming in its plaza. Flippy Whales conjuring up a storm too... Time to leave I think! The tree of Intamin oddness? Oversized B&M Weird Mack cos that's the norm now More Intamin oddness Obligatory heat blurred Kumba pic A good Oblivion. And its red. A white tiger secluding himself from the orange ones. In this modern day politically correct world too. I'm sure PETA would have a fit And a Zierer. All about this one tbf. Look at it all green and that fence too. I liked this ornate structure too. Such a nice table We also did this, but it's Merlin so we won't go there. Oh, too late. This guy wants out That's better. Fun Spot is such a great bonus place. And we all had $25 to spend as a gift from our ticket supplier Now it's somehow known that 'I don't like Disney' so I apologise now. Could be worse though. I could have gone to a Disney park. Hang on Seems familiar I mean it's nice but... Oh it's alright. They have two of these. No big player then Oh no I'm at a Disney Park. Must be Animal Kingdom Can't be, it's night and they're still open And a nightime show that sucks in every way... It was Animal Kingdom all along. Oh no. I can only apologise for this mistake and will ensure the next one is Disney free. Coming later this week, a bumper Universal blog! Gotta balance the world out now you see.
  13. As nice as the carousel was, it doesn't fit in with anywhere now really. Some times people get far too precious over old attractions or those with history. Yeah it's a shame, but none of the depicted rides are like that anymore. Sometimes moving on and change is a good thing. The animal tree thing over the carousel could look quite cool and be a good centrepiece to Market Square.
  14. SYNERGY # Shame about the grey wall, but still a huge improvement! All the synergy an attraction could have Apparently it is really accurate. Shop to open very soon Meanwhile at grey shed productions Fast and Furious which actually isn't too ugly in this view But yeah, it's very uninspiring for what is going to be a very uninteresting ride. What I can't wait for To see this beast with the scaffolding down! All photos from Bioreconstruct on Twitter
  15. They've just spent the past few seasons on redoing the Transylvania facades and now we're going to get a bright bash one as the centrepiece. Sums up Chessington perfectly!
  16. Will we be allowed at opening? Don't want to bugger up Stealth right from the start
  17. Sunday perks, free parking in the Victoria shopping centre
  18. The two new kids rides in Canada Creek, open up Loggers, family area. New piece of land behind Swarm, a 1.2 coaster, family flat and restaurant. Family/thrill area. Spruce up Rumba, do something about the beach, done. You'd have a good mix then. Just a family dark ride needed.
  19. With a fair few new parks on the cards for 2017, and a few that have highly rated coasters, lets see where things stand after Florida and having thought about it. Nemesis: It looked even better this year in the dark. Always rides well. Is the only good thing about Towers atm. Manta: It's such an elegant ride. I love the queue, the music, the ride, everything is great. Oz'iris: Biggest surprise of the year by far, proves B&M still know how to make them (well, a few years ago at least) Hulk: It rides no different to how it used to, but the music is awesome and the queue is way cooler (in both ways), so while only 4th it is an improvement on old Hulk. Tonnere De Zeuss: I love the way its rickety, it's how a woodie should be. Mummy: Down one, it's an amazing ride but it really is showing its age and needs a good refurb. Blue Fire: Riding this again in October just made me love it more. It's a brilliant ride with a great mix of elements. Looks fab at night too Montu: I'm putting this back in. Yes it's a big B&M, but it still packs some force and is sooo much fun. Stealth: Big fan of Stealth. Still gives a great thrill everytime you ride it. The playlist is solid too Taron: It's known I didn't rave about this when I got off it, like it was good, but I didn't think much of it. But now I look back and it really was good fun, swooping through the buildings and the surroundings. It's this or Troy. Mako is a good new ride, made me appreciate airtime coasters more but still not making it in. No pressure Shambhala Dark rides is simple: Spider-Man: Need I say. Tower of Terror: Again, no comment Forbidden Journey: Great new tech Transformers: It's just not Spider-Man Gringotts: Really enjoyed this one and look forward to the tech being further developed Maus Au Chocolat: So much fun, lighthearted Kong: It's got some issues, but the experience from entering the queue to the exit is complete. The animatronic is stunning and the queue is mildly unnerving! Pirates of the Caribbean: Disney classic. Much fun. Challenge of Tutankhamun: Great ride system, sets, story, intensity Men In Black: By far my favourite shooter.
  20. Colossus always gets lots of work. Last year we had the scaffolding up the lift hill and I believe a few new footers or at least work done to them. It's always structural stuff though, not helped by it's love of sinking. You'd be able to see if they were repainting it
  21. I've only been hearing poor reviews of that ride! Not helped by the fact half the park hasn't opened on time! The screens in some cases literally look like TV's, there's no hiding between each scene so they all blend into one and it's such a waste of the trackless tech. So Merlin have probably got the exact same thing coming to Heide Park next year.
  22. It's a marvelous feat of engineering and design. I'm not sure why everyone was hyped thinking the ride was going to be the best thing ever. The hype should have been justfor the fact this legend has finally made it to the UK. And that it's silky smooth, travels Europe, operates better than anything we have in this country and is 30 odd years old. It's crazy! The ride is just fun. Good speed throughout with some flicky twists and turns. Didn't have any issues with the restraints either. Really dislike how nowadays everything has to be a "it's in" or "it's not in my top 10." Stop trying to compare every ride to everything and just sit back and enjoy. It's so much more fun!
  23. Yeah the Orlando one is the worst for it (from on park).
  24. This land will be huge. It has to live up to the standards of the Potter areas and in the states compete against Star Wars Land. Apparently zero screens in the attractions. And the concept is so realistic to the games. That's what they're recreating, and they will immerse you in that. This has been in the works for a long time now.
  25. Actually to begin with the Thrill Capital thing worked. Park numbers were on the up massively. The issue wasn't getting people in. The issue was teenagers don't spend money. They were mostly local teens who would spend almost nothing on a visit. It's your families that spend money on meals, merchandise etc. Six flags had the same issue. Thorpe's focus on thrills started in like 2001 so for 11 seasons they went strong with that. The rocking tug you can't say isn't a permanent theme park ride. Every other Merlin park in England has one. We don't know if they're going to be rethemed yet or not so we shouldn't assume. They've literally just been delivered, you'd install the ride first then do it up. Considering they're free rides I'd like to think they'll have some money to make them fit in.
