Looks cute compared to how it was the past couple years.

But lets not pretend this isnt tacky and in a different vein to the original

The original team are probably well gone, why can't the new guys have there own go at something thats been sitting collecting dust for  years.

The change is tacky and deliberately so. It's not supposed to be an "improvement" on some sort of mistake on the old theme, it was BRILLIANT in the past, the scary atmosphere was fun and brilliant. Great.

It's just that the old theme had all but vanished in recent years and needed something new. Either restore it (which would cost more money) or go all out disco, including the music.

The original music was much better but wouldnt have worked with this new style. I think overall the revamped Vampire comes together... ok?  It's more entertaining than it was these last few years and not nearly as bad as Tomb Blaster's revamp few years ago!

Go experience it first before calling it tacky. LoL

Or why not get a job at Merlin seeing as you seemed qualified to make these changes.

The organist and the lighting looks fantastic,, really nice job.

However, that music sounds horrendous. It's incredibly generic and bland organ music, and completely lacks any of the impact the original score.

I don't want to be negative, but hearing these replacement tracks makes you realise just how phenomenal Graham Smart's music was. The guy was a genius

Ah, stop being moody and go ride it for yourself, the change is good. Went on it twice today, the vampire looks cool and with the new lighting gets rid of the scary /tense atmosphere from riding many years ago as a child Although the ride felt a lot slower today.

  4. Using this thread as can't find one for Legoland Florida, and can't be bothered to make a new one, please move if there is one.

Legoland Florida are pulling an interesting marketing stunt to launch their new pirate hotel. Nik Wallenda, who just tight roped across a volcano, however became instantly hated by many for wearing a safety harness, hence eliminating the risk of death on live TV will be walking the plank at the new hotel.

Doesn't really seem like that target market here as most people wh tune in to watch him are only watching to see if he essentially falls.  And will he be wearing a harness?

  5. The one thing I do love about Jack's videos is how he always has to cut back to a previous video with a quote of him speculating something to assert that dominance over the enthusiast community when it is correct. Another good video though and a great way to get more exposure out there as to what the park is doing this year rather than traditional click bait articles, its almost a shame in a way that Thorpe or even MAP doesn't have an experienced community manager to act as a face to the ever growing community. Rather then what seems to generic tweets which can get lost in translation.

Another not, this partnership has nothing to do with Netflix other than being able to watch on that platform, rather the Uk production company are involved. If Netflix were involved we've have a stranger things attraction.

As I've said, not really my thing, since I haven't watched Black Mirror. Concept could be interesting, and it could work for the masses if done right.

You should watch it, the PM f**ked a big, and then the story broke 4 years later about the PM really getting down with a pig, back in the uni days.

It’s hardly surprising we have yet another IP-dependant attraction given to us with no consideration for long-term sustainability or learnt lessons from the likes of Saw Alive, I’m a Celeb and “future for theme parks” relying on actors year-round, which this is almost certain to have. Does this park have an incredibly short memory or something?

You may say this but IP's do drive traffic towards the park, the standard of execution of the IP however may not be up to par.

Merlin working with Netflix could potentially be huge for them - whilst I know IP’s are not everyone’s cup of tea merlin have publicly stated they see them as the future - and if done well there’s no reason why they can’t be as good as original ideas.

I don't believe this to be Netflix directly rather the UK production company overseeing the product.

And so the directionless march continues. I really really really don’t want to be negative but with such a mess of IPs, I really don’t know where Thorpe are going. If it’s a good experience, all the credit to them but we need some sort of coherence (which I know went out the window a while ago)

Could it not be argued that this a good movie for the park, becoming more of a TV / Shows themed attractions park.

Because Legoland Japan and Legoland Dubai are getting all the visitors and making all the money?

    (spoilers: they're not)

Dubai is a lease operated by Merlin = Making money.

Japan is improving folds year on year, just had a slow start, with the Olympics this year, I'm sure it will continue to improve.

Meanwhile Thorpe still makes profit for Merlin, but just isn't the priority as of now, maybe the new owners will see a different incentive that lies within Thorpe. It will all just take time.

I just can’t see a positive future for the park, as rides continue to age and are given as much “on the cheap” maintenance until  running them is no longer practical.

In the last ten years, we have only seen six new rides, two of which are “off the shelf” kids rides you would expect to find at a small sea side park. In the ten years before that, we saw 14.

Whilst it’s not logical to keep the same investment level from 2010-2010, it would be nice to at least see something every few years, but we know under current positions that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

Perhaps it's just currently not profitable for Merlin to invest in Thorpe, in comparison to the new markets of Legoland resorts in Asia.

  12. Alton Towers finally starting to stand up to the resort status.

I also love how people will say OctoberFest will fail, as people need to drive to AT. With over 500, ballpark figure don't quote me, rooms people who stay over may want something to do in the evenings. With late night riding this is an excellent way to extend the attendance in the generally quiet month of September.

In my opinion a cheaper to run scare fest, whilst extending the popularity of the Halloween event period, just with the offering of beer and lederhosen rather than scares.

This is a clear moneymaker, so go to AT and have a few bevvy's this September.

This must be a massive blow for them. I honestly wish them a swift recovery especially out of all things going on with them ATM.

Then make sure you head down to the park for opening day!
