  1. TBH if I was in a hotel and there were under 18's in the next room, what would be the chance they would go to bed on time and be quiet... or would they party and drink until the early hours? For me 18 is right.
  2. I wonder how many people after queuing for 120 mins came off thinking why they wasted 2 hours of their life for that ride

    Slammer

It will be replaced with a Top Spin next year
  4. Go back to my post on 1990 Chessington/Vampire, have the Organ blasting music out, the speakers on the organ don't even work now. I also remember when queuing in the station the music was loud, there was so much atmosphere, trains going in and out quickly. Now the music is turned down, the stupid ride ops blasting out "Sit back hold tight...." Please stop them doing this, get a good recording. And the loading / unloading, lets wait for the train to go out of the station then start batching. Wait until the previous train comes back in and is waiting. Then realise you have two empty seats, then do a check. Somebody wants to take off their shoes, restraints up, and re-check the restraints.... One member of staff said on Saturday while I was in the Fast Track queue (Priority Pass) "Did you know the queue is 2 hours long and your jumping it" Well I was so tempted to say they should pull their finger out and get the trains out faster, but I didn't.
  5. It simply needs to go back to the original theme, fizzy pop factory and wacky humor
  6. Never been on this one, but the kids love it and there is never a queue for it either which is a big bonus. I also get the kids on the Monkey Swinger then fill up the drinks bottles as with Chessington after you queue for ages to be served they tell you the machine is out of order as they don't know how to change the gas or the post mix and I end up having to go to the Noodle bar.
  7. My parents are currently clearing out their loft and they came across this little gem, Enjoy! Souvenir guide 1990 part 1 Souvenir guide 1990 part 2 Things to note in here: No Wild Asia/Beanoland, it is Circus world The RMT looked brand new Arrow Vampire trains Transylvania looks amazing Even the Safari Skyway looks good Giraffe, before they got rid of them and also Hippos Park entertainers, I wanna meet Mr Ming! 5th Dimension Visit our other attractions (Rock circus, the Planetarium all gone) and they had not purchased Thorpe Park then.
  8. Duel and the Blade should be removed and Air added,
  9. It seems hit and miss this year, I would agree as you don't get the full darkness and you can see too much.
  10. I can back this up with many factors: Reliably of rides - they are either all working or you have may out of action Queues - either non or very long Staff - Either very friendly or miserable and want to go home Audio - Sometimes they get it working ok, other times it doesn't work at all Refill drinks - Either the mix is right or wrong Effects on rides - Work sometimes, and not at other times Attitude of guests - Either very family/friendly or a car crash What I am getting at is you can have one visit and it can be brilliant, you enjoy yourself, get on loads of rides and it is something you will remember and want to come back again and again, on other trips you have a completely different experience
  11. I do think characters are a thing of the past, unless your Disney with the huge IP behind the character, it is very hard to pull it off IMO. I think Alton have a good solution with the Park Keepers, Thorpe could call theirs "The Chav Checkers" or something. Get them a clapped out Vauxhall Corsa, dress them up in trackies and trainers, gold chains and big hooped ear rings (Lizzy Duke specials of course) for the girls, Burberry caps, iPhone in one hand and of course an Ultimate Fast Track wristband plus a big sub woofer in the boot.....

    X

For a ride like X, it should be very easy to give a consistent experience and the effects are very basic.
  13. Reading the two reviews on here it shows how going on a different day can have such a different atmosphere. I have always found this with Thorpe, you either have a brilliant day or a disappointing day. I do feel Thorpe always struggle to give a consistent experience. Other theme parks you go to you can almost predict what kind of day you will have, where as Thorpe you never really know. I do hope these events work out, to be honest they really need to work as this is something extra for the guests staying over in the CP. I just feel it might be best for Thorpe to just extend the normal hours during the summer. With the fantastic weather we have had over the last few weeks and very warm evenings, they only needed to do a little Facebook/Twitter advertising, maybe local radio advert and I'm sure they would have easily been able to keep the park full up until very late.
  14. I'm going to say they will do the same thing like the bill board on the Swarm, ask for ideas, but still do what they wanted to do in the first place and have what guests suggest as a last minute add on.
  15. Why can't people just wait their turn? It is the cheapest and a very simple solution to have. If you go to a ride and its 90 minutes, you either wait 90 minutes or go elsewhere. This is the most fairest system of all rather than the current system of 1st class and 2nd class citizens. Parents have to say to children "Sorry you have to wait for the people with more money to go on first"
  16. IF they do have full two trains running, which I hope they do, it will be a poor show to those people who go during the quieter times and experience very long queues with one train operation. But if there is a demand for 2 trains and people want to buy tickets, I doubt Thorpe will not want to have all those additional paying guests on park.
  17. You do have to laugh that these rides were all working in March when it was freezing cold, plus with water effects and now when they are needed they are down :-(
  18. After 2.5 hours in a queue for the Smiler last week and Thorpe unable to manage their refills, I think I'll keep clear of the parks until September. I really would rather loose out than go there at the moment. I'm sure we have all been there when you have queued for so long that you get to the stage that you don't care how good the ride is, the wait is not worth it.
  19. We always get a mega spin on Fury, we always put heavy people in once side and kids in the other
  20. Last Saturday three of the refill stations either were closed or had faulty machines. I had to have stern words at Guest Services about this as the places which were open had 25 min queues and one member of staff and the places which refuse to serve you drinks had 2-3 staff doing not a lot. Plenty of hot frustrated customers melting in a 30C heat. The girl on one of the refill stations who was on her own with a queue a mile long and a faulty refill machine looked like she was going to burst out in tears as people were waiting ages to be told there was no drinks! Also Thorpe were selling plenty of day capsules but not having the infrastructure to support it. This policy is ridiculous. I made a point when I went to the Towers on Sunday/Monday to go to all the places which were not standard refill stations to get my drinks refills. Fish and Chips in FV Bar at the bottom of towers street Hot dog stands etc Nobody questioned it, they took the capsule and filled it up no questions asked "Are you having a good day" normal kiosk conversation... The only thing Towers let people down with was that all the slush stations were closed
  21. I was at the the Towers, no security on show, the old boards and and www.ridetimes.co.uk giving accurate times and the ability to get a drinks refill at ANY food or drinks place... how can two parks owned by the same company be so different...
  22. I don't think many people know where Rumba rapids is, I'm sure they think Storm Surge is the Rapids ride.
  23. Can they fit some better restraints while they are at it :-)
