  1. I've still never been searched, but they will only find 4 MAP's a pair of sun glasses, ponchos and some drinks capsules. Happy to be searched as long as I get to choose who searches me
  2. The current location is fine, the ride does the job and it is a very comfortable ride. The only thing which needs doing is a lick of paint to brighten it up and they need to decide what they want to do with the two pools in the middle of the track, one has water, the other one doesn't. Plus I would love to see the Flying Fish fountain back again. If they don't want to spend much money, they fill in the two ponds and grass it over and give it a lick of pain. Moving it wouldn't achieve anything IMO. IF and a big if Spinball comes to Thorpe, they could place it on the beach opposite the fish and remove that half of the beach. Just an idea.
  3. I would welcome the move, but wouldn't be bothered if it stayed where it was. I much prefer Fury to Spinball as Fury is fast, smooth, spins loads and is a great ride. Spinball is just boring and painful, but still very popular.

It was closed earlier this year when somebody has been 'ill' on the ride when I went a few months ago, so I guess the answer to that is yes.
  5. Want me to take a picture with audio or a moving Gif next time I'm up there?
  6. Didn't Revolution in Blackpool open in 1979 before the Corkscrew?
  7. I'd be interested to see how popular this is, but for me, I'll keep to the standard annual and if they don't do a good enough renewal price, then I won't renew.
  8. It will boost gate figures and people will tell their friends. Also for those who have an annual pass, they will come back, but they may also bring their friends too. Its a clever marketing ploy. Another thing is if they get more people through the gate, the queues build up and instantly Fast Track sales increase. As those who have the annual pass didn't pay to get in so they are more likely to buy Fast Track. Depending on how far the people live from Thorpe, I can't see many of them returning more than 3 times in the year. If anything, this is a good thing, not sure doing this at the same time the Merlin Membership pass is introduced. But how are Thorpe going to increase gate figures....
  9. They posted a nice picture of Colossus today and you could see the last 6 seats were empty!
  10. I think this is very good news as they really need to aim for families, but the danger I see is that if a family who has a child between 1m and 1.1m, is there enough for them to spend an entire day at Thorpe? With the removal of Octopus gardens, CCR and P4D, after paying the entrance fee, I wonder how many families will be going to guest services when they realise that to have a half decent day everyone needs to be a minimum of 1.2 to get on some half decent rides. Of course we don't know what they have planned, there may be something aimed at families based in the Arena this summer, they could open CCR too
  11. Or we should rip Rita out and make it so as you come down the drop, it goes round the Rita track
  12. There is a good reason why it is in a pit and Chessie don't have any tall rides.... they can't go over the tree height
  13. I just want to ride the coasters in the dark....
  14. Stealth is the best ride at Thorpe IMO, I would say Saw but due to it being rough as old boots and over-shaddowed by The Smiler, it's gone down my list. You leave Stealth alone, if you want real excitement, there is always the Flying Fish
  15. The thing I don't like about Detty is the drop....
  16. They did re-tarmac the main path outside Hocus Pocus down towards the main gate this year. I wonder how much money they will get for scrapping Ramesess, they may be able to afford to repair more paths!
  17. I'm not blaming the ride ops Ricky, I'm blaming Thorpe as a park. This seems like a very expensive investment and the end results for the guests is it is not worth the money due to it being inaccurate all the time. I mean if you buy a fas track based on the displayed times to find it is not a 90 min queue, it is walk on.... you wouldn't be happy. In the same way I have gone to Stealth this year, it has displayed 10 mins which turn out to be 45 or displays 45 mins which turns out to b 5-10 They may be new Marc, but the system for updating the signs can't have changed too much, somebody calculates the estimated time, it is input into a system and the system displays the time. I fully accept this is an approximate time, so 5-10 mins difference is understandable, but displaying a 90 min queue when the ride is walk on is really a poor show. Two weeks ago the main board said Saw had a 45 min queue, the sign above the entrance was not working, then the ride op put out an announcement "People in the Saw plaza, the queue time is currently 5 minutes" There is no doubt the signs look fantastic and are a great improvement, it is a shame the information displayed isn't more accurate.
  18. Unless they can get some cheap second hand parts from another ride which has been decommissioned, I find it hard to believe they will get new parts for this and it will go back in service. After an incident like this, it is often best to remove the ride as guests loose faith in the ride being safe.
  19. The main thing is when the ride failed, it failed in a safe state and nobody was hurt and everyone got off safely. So credit to Huss for the design of it keeping the guests safe. Why the technical services team couldn't release the guests I'm sure will be fully investigated. As for the ride breaking down, these things happen. What is unacceptable is Chessington not having the ability to free and get the guests down for a ride they have owned for 20 years. No park should have to dial 999 when a ride breaks down. There were some good pics and I loved the video of the fire fighters cutting out a guest filmed by another guest using their phone... tut tut Now Chessington tend to give you the odd priority pass when things go wrong, this will bring the mother load of passes!
  20. For me the Operations were very good, we managed 13 rides before 2 PM and didn't queue. Only Nemesis was on one train, everything was good. They do need to send their staff on The Smiler to cheer them up! I have no idea how expensive the queue line boards were to install, but they are a complete waste of money, this is not the first time I have noticed this. Let me explain: Board at Queue reads: Actual queue Time Colossus, not working 10 mins Saw, 90 mins Walk on Quantum 10 mins Walk on Swarm forwards 55 mins 15 Swarm backwards 30 mins 15 Loggers 15 mins 5 mins Nemesis 20 mins 5 mins I have often seen Stealth on a 45 min advertised queue and it only has 5-10 min queue. Now if guests are using the queue boards as an indicator of if they need to buy a fast track or not, then if the board is advertising a 90 mins queue and in fact there is no queue at all, they fair enough the person who brought the fast track wasted their money, but Thorpe have also made money out of mis-displaying information in which they got a financial gain.
  21. I don't know why Thorpe put in those new queue line sighs, every time apart from Rumba was wrong. Saw had a queue time of 90 mins advertised when it was in fact walk on. I went on the ride today and it was rough as old boots, the ride was so quiet that a member of staff was calling us over for a re-ride, but we refused due to how rough the ride had been. Which is a shame as The Smiler is so smooth.
  22. Yes it is different, but not a good as going forwards IMO
  23. I've seen it take only 10 mins on Inferno to get from the bottom of the stairs and it also take 40 minutes, but lets take any improvement while it is there.

If you look at the finish on something like The Swarm or The Smiler and compare it to X, you can tell it was done on the cheap, but I take my hat off to them and give them credit, looking at the ride last year it had very little life left in it when you take in the guest experience and what was on offer. They have given the turd a very good polishing and now at least younger children can enjoy it and it does look like they have looked after it rather than let it rot which is what it looked like last year. I still need to ride it with the brake blocks removed, but it is better. New for 2014, X Backwards again?
