I had an idea that maybe Thorpe could replace their teacups ride with a Twister(like at the funfair) they have a high capacity and are good fun for all the family. What does everyone think?

The event was mistakenly listed as 10 - 5 on Eventbrite, and unfortunately can't be changed once posted.
However we've taken the decision to keep rides open until 5pm if there is demand for it

I disliked Submission A LOT, but IMO this just makes Alton's flat ride line up incredibly low. Yes, their coasters are world class, but you need something else to help ease the queues and vary your experiences at the park. I mean, Thorpe Park have Rush, Vortex, Samurai, Slammer, Quantum, Zodiac and Detonator, which is more than double Alton's current line up of Blade, Ripsaw and Enterprise. The queues for some of Alton's coasters- especially Rita and The Smiler- can get insane, I feel like more thrilling flat rides would detract from this. I know they're a family park and all and have an amazing family offering, but still :/ Maybe removing Submission was a bad move :/

Why are we talking about Storm Surge now? What does that have to do with a bunch of short-tempered birds?

They may want to change it on their booking website then, both dates said 10-5 when I booked yesterday.

Well the max hight you got last year before it started to stop. That's only half way through the new cycles

I went last year (on the Sunday) and it was absolutely FREEZING!! As a result it was fairly quiet. I wasn't dressed properly for the cold and gave up and went home within 2 hours, but had been on just about everything before I left!

I hope it is, but knowing Merlin it will be a fast track kiosk!

It should be, I was in the same situation last year in October on the Fright Night preview and I took my old pass and showed both.

Well with Thorpe Park dishing out their annual passes with a free fast track for only £48, I don't think many people won't have them anymore. I think one of the days should be for people with Merlin annual passes only.

This is good news IMO considering it was also the only major coaster at the park without a shop.
Glad to see it will be an actual structure/building rather than a shipping container, which have now become a cliche due to their frequent use.
2014 looks like it could be another good year for the park.

Genuinely gutted Submission is going. Loved it; decent ride and never saw why people thought it was uncomfortable.
Can't see any rides that could replace it though; not exactly ample space there, ey?

Doesn't surprise me at all. Even when you give them the benefit of the doubt, they find ways to disappoint you. Merlins best UK project this year is a dodgems and a rethemed Detonator. That literally says it all.

I went to Thorpe today to renew Merlin Passes.
The entrance is in exactly the same state as it was in November, so it looks like we won't be seeing an updated entrance this year. Aside from that, nothing out of the ordinary to comment on (although the staff in the annual pass building did have angry birds mousemats!)
