Once again, a double decker bus has hit a railway bridge in Staines whilst carrying school pupils on their way to Thorpe Park. This is a highly marked bridge with signs that flash when a high vehicle approaches. Luckily nobody seriously hurt. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-32088386

Don't expect any change on the number of Colossus trains for a while http://forum.maniahub.com/topic/511-closed-rides/page-91#entry205861 When staff are short, further problems are created by the park moving staff to other areas even though there is work awaiting in the original area.
-
Sadly, due to reductions in specifically trained staff, there could be some longer term closures if certain rides fail. One would hope that Merlin are watching and preparing for this.
-
It was impressive last Friday, I could have had a bath in the tunnel.
-
Everybody is entitled to their opinion and this forum gives them a chance to air it; the fact that there appears to be a bigger outcry about SRQ is that it is the SRQ users that are opining here. Merlin are in the money making business, and when they started charging for car parks (what choice for people at AT?) they proved they are in the "money grabbing" business - and that is my opinion.
-
I think the reason they could cope with this was that the staff were SRQ side too, and could make their decisions on what they could see as the incoming train was offloading and were already directing the SRQ riders as it off loaded - spilt milk I suppose.
-
I too liked the SRQ for Nemesis, and the staff seemed to use it very quickly, planning their use of it based on the numbers in the "grids" opposite. That is a shame, as it did not appear to slow things but ensured most departures were full, which was a management requirement.

I have a very strong suspicion that at the moment TP is undermanned on the engineering side. My fingers are crossed that when I first test them out, they will be functioning enough for me.
-
Why not return from Washington? work your way down, and use centrally sited accommodation.

Hi Dragon2000, have a look at this...... https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/store/season-passes . Take heed of what Benin suggests, and I would suggest you make those rest days, or the touristy days at the weekend, when there are more people in the parks. I don't think it's worth doing two days at 6 flags Gt. Adventure, if you have that many days, another park would be better for that. (IMO) Certainly worth you combining the accommodation, as it gives a central point to several sites, saves you leaving gear in the car too often; sadly some members of another club got hit in their hire car by doing that. Have a look on the search on this and other coaster club sites to build up your information. good luck

Well the Thorpe Park Annual Pass , not the season pass, is now linking to the following, but only when it's open do you find it's £59.99, not £69.99..... https://www.thorpepark.com/tickets-passes/ticket-information/tickets/thorpe-park-resort-standard-annual-pass/

Still not advertising for me, "ride mentor, must be called "Fred" and living within seven miles radius, willing to ride Stealth continuously"!
-
Count yourself lucky, I've not been able to get into anything on the site apart from Merlin Passes, and I thought there was a deal for a £48 TP Annual Pass, but now can only see £69.99, but still cannot get into that.
-
Best Wishes to you all for 2015, and may you get the ups and downs that you want.
-
Annoyingly, TP's site is only linking to Merlin annual passes, and the suggested chance of getting a £48 annual pass is disappearing fast. I have emailed them, but it's New Year and commercially I don't see my winning this one.
-
Not my scene, but have any of you done the Men In Black ride at Universal? zappy dark ride, on one level.
-
You'll have not been to La Ronde in Montreal then? now that is run down and a disgrace - TP is not that, but does need some attention. Perhaps create a wall covering consisting of graffiti, relating to parks and rides and the "meaning of X", and see if the new stuff can be spotted. Originally the walkways were within the theme, but having changed it, it's difficult due to the length of them.
-
Snippet picked up yesterday it seems that X will be staying though it's departure had been on the cards, and they may convert the building to an event venue to allow them to have noisier and larger events than in the Dome. This change may be put on hold due to the new ride.
-
What about sticking with the Shark theme as they aim to make so much money out of the queue jump systems and car park, without thought to those already in the queues? The staff certainly don't seem to have much knowledge of the future ride, but I am starting to get the snippets together - zap! zap! As the "rangers" carousel is going and though much more modern, with Merlins treatment of the original carousel, I don't hold much hope for this one being relocated.
-
Really, would you run round to "re-ride" it? I think not, even a carousel is something you would want to go on twice in one day, but Hex? Sorry, I suppose I'm being a bit hypercritical as that is not my thing, but I do prefer something that I would want to go back on pretty soon, not once each visit.

Jason and CWPAfanMalcolm great varied ride counts chaps - it was a pretty good day, well, very good day.
-
Agreed - very sad. Due to the weather forecast for the last day of the season being brilliant, I decided to leave everything else and go over for it. Surprisingly not massive crowds. Some pleasant encounters, including meeting and riding with TPM members briefly, riding Stealth with a lad who broke his 150 rides for the season, let's not go into figures, another TPM member on his 312th, meeting some familiar members of another club and riding with them a few times. Riding Stealth with other people that Merlin would get annoyed if I mentioned; on Stealth a lady who said she was pleased she ridden it with someone who could calm her, but would never ride it again, and seeing the horse loose on the platform several times. A great finishing day, a bit of a party atmosphere, and whilst riding ......Stealth, seeing loads of fireworks in the dark at least for an hour. Thanks Thorpe Park.
-
Today, probably my last chance to do any riding this season, night shift tonight, so I went to TP. Luckily for me, Stealth was working, only about 1000 people in the whole park. Some of the queues were non-existent, so yes, I actually went on some other things to finish off my season. Nemesis Inferno x 1 Slammer x 1 (only me on one side and two others opposite) Colossus x 1 Saw, out of action during my extra-normal saunter Vortex x 1 Rush x 1 SWARM x 1 X x 1 Stealth, more than one! Total ride count - over 8 A nice day to be able to say cheerio and thanks to many staff members, and the rain held off, except for a light shower during the afternoon.

The 'Definitely 100% Totally Going to Happen' London Resort

Hmm, still not sure that this is really on the cards; something about the set up of the company the "process", and the verbal representations. I will wait until building is in progress to make my next comment on this.
