  1. The park is certainly leaning more towards the youngsters now, with less movement on the apparent coaster direction. Logically, if it's making money there is no need to move away from the current theme.
  2. If it is human error, and the ride is not at fault, then they are accountable, and it be will the Judicial System that deals with them, and not Merlin. Merlin are in business to make money for share holders and to entertain, in that order. They have suffered terribly on the first count, and have already proved they are not out for "scalps".
  3. It's so easy to criticize, so this is a great post, and if I can, I always thank and praise the staff, it is only right.
  4. Your lucky, if you'd had a blow-out in it you could have been off the path in a heap!
  5. Where did that come from ? "Typing things like "Less queues for us then" or things like that is insensitive as this is a death after all"
  6. Second try at this posting - Until the cause is officially announced I cannot add further to that conjecture - sad to say, people have been injured, their lives have been changed, and some people are worried about their job security. Reports by major Departments are often unduly delayed, my own employer is awaiting a report of an inspection from over seven months ago; the Smiler incident is of major public interest and should be competently hurried along.
  7. The cause was pretty obvious; Merlin need to get this sorted as the longer it remains closed without obvious remedial action will arouse more suspicion. We are all guilty of some conjecture, but if a head is to roll, then let it, and get on.
  8. Most times one just gets given a "fast track for a lesser ride" but kick up about it and you would gain from that. I think you'll find that the ticket is valid for several months.
  9. I doubt very much that his friends or family will be on this forum; sad for them, horrible for those affected by it at the park, he was an idiot. If you don't feel you could call him that, then you must be lonely on your planet.
  10. Considering what they're going to get today, it's probably a good thing.
  11. I didn't see the point of collecting them, but I got one!
  12. ~This is interesting as it's based around youngsters visiting TP as a physics study..... http://rooksheathscience.com/2014/07/18/year-12-physics-students-at-thorpe-park-2014/
  13. I suspect they had a big discussion about what design to choose, then decided to just picket !
  14. I'm sure someone will come along shortly to explain what on earth you just posted. Also, if your "Swarms fire has been working for a long time." means less than two days then you'd be right as it wasn't working at all on Wednesday, this week.
  15. This is good news, apparently all is running okay, as expected, and hopefully that will reduce some of the other queues. Now come on HSE, sort out the other and declare the findings, let's get on, before the holiday period really takes hold.
  16. That's it, ban all buses! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-33406558
  17. A bit more to it than that. Due to those good old Laws of Relativity, there would have to be some co-ordinated manipulation, the intention to cause more momentum in one direction, preferably in the normal ride direction. The main problem not being this intention, but get everybody's attention and co-operation; actually, we could be up there a long time.
  18. Rollbacks I don't want as that would totally waste at least twenty minutes of ride time, and for what? Getting stuck on the top hat I think would be great; staff members I've spoken to say it's only happened once? I'd love it, then to try to get everybody rockin in sync to try to shift it, and at least you'd get more than a half second view around. Certainly wouldn't want it twice, again wasting ride time.
  19. "Hottest day of the year yesterday" and it was great to see the staff getting looked after with supplies of water being delivered. Though a terrifically hot day, what summed up the good nature of the clientèle was that it was security staff delivering the water to the staff at the rides. Well done TP.
  20. Hi Han, not sure how many as I don't really count if the day is going well, but my count of launch break downs was a personal record, shame. I think the only one not claiming a right to the compensatory fast track was the pigeon. I'll reword it then, "more newbies than in my previous experience at this time of year".
  21. Stealth certainly doesn't like the extreme heat....had several "time outs" today, engineers are convinced that it's the heat and as it was running two trains, I think that's more the launch than the trains. One pigeon met it's maker today, luckily hitting the framework of the train and not the riders. Cup challenge made for interesting entertainment in the heat, luckily for me, didn't get too much of the contents, some got a fair soaking, additional water provided from hosepipe at times, with no objections from riders. Stealth finally gave up the ghost near to 4p.m. so I had to use the provided fast track ticket before I left the park. Still surprising influx of new staff. Interesting comment from one girl "glad I'm not old, I can't imagine keeping my teeth in on that!"
  22. This is horrific, how does a park, or an emergency service deal with such a thing, terrible. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-33300970
  23. Along with any person who raises their own photographic device above their own height!
  24. They need to keep things ticking over so that when they open to the public, they don't get more flak due to breakdowns.
  25. It's interesting in that the purpose of a lot of the testing is to see if they can make them collide. I'll leave it up to you all to decide if that happened.
