  1. Posted: Tue Sep 30, 2014 5:22 pm Post subject: I went to TP today . The park was nicely empty and most rides were only five minute queues. Apart from Saw all rides seemed to be on one train, the park was really quiet. Met a couple from another Club and we even rode the Tea Cups together, a Coaster Clubber takeover, well there were only the three of us on it. During a refreshment break from Stealth, I rode Colossus twice, Nemesis Inferno and Slammer once each, but the pull of my favourite won through. Funny incident, I rode on Stealth beside a young lady who told me her mum did not want to ride it as "well, she is nearly sixty!" (that's for those that know me). Did have to remind one ride-op that part of his job was to offload, they were waiting. Watched a "manager" do his "check" visit to the loo - signing the acknowledgement paper, and not noticing me standing near the sinks, at all, as he did not walk in from the doorway. The weather was as forecast, great.

    Slammer

Went on Slammer a couple of times on Friday; nice but seems to be on a basic programme of three rotations in each direction, no pause in a vertical hang up.
  3. TP today, nice to see some familiar faces! Stealth - at times very good for me, and I know if I have an advantage it's down to the staff and I appreciate it, and I do know they have rules/requirements that they have to work by. SAW was out for a while, testing, and I finally went on twice; isn't it running quietly, and at times smoothly. Colossus, well I would have gone on more than once but for the slow loading - what should have been less than ten minute queue was dragging out to twenty-five; it's a great ride.
  4. A parent doesn't actually know what is right, they hope and think they do, because their prime aim, is to protect their offspring. The offspring and the parent rarely read the same instruction manual, you know, the one where you obey the rules, so long as it suits everybody, then if you don't, you get some form of forfeit to pay, I.e. stopped from using something. When the "young blighter" is away from the nest, the parent worries that their loved one, may be doing the things that they themselves got away with, but realized at the time it was risky. Saying "sorry" normally goes a long way in repairing damage, and if it doesn't, then one cannot be criticized for having done that. Enjoy your lives, so long as you don't force your beliefs on others, consider your life is valuable to others before you, and step back and think sometimes. Oh, and by the way, the wrong is not in doing something, it's getting caught that is wrong.

    Video to Watch!

Interesting music video, where someone uses the equipment in an expert manner, but, never mind that, watch the dog. http://www.dump.com/feelcover/
  6. Then "Hi" to you ProjectLC, I was the somewhat older guy in the light blue tee shirt, single riding on Stealth, if I could. That's odd, they normally only get a "helping hand claw" thingy. Also agree with you; really annoying, difficult to confront, and also difficult for inexperienced ride ops.. If one can, you just walk past them and utter "after me you're next" but it still is difficult.
  7. It's got too much grass to be another Merlin site, it all needs maintenance. Alton Towers was always a glorious garden, and was their first attempt. There are too many "hands on" rides, I.e. where the public can control things, they have for years been trying to do away with them except for the dodgems.
  8. What a nonsensical description, for what is another brilliant looking ride with clever wording and that figure of 325? well it's 'cos the next one by B & M will be 335 feet high and therefore publicised by it's name and the figure "335", whenever that is, and at that time it will then be "the worlds highest".
  9. Okay, I admit it, I too was there yesterday, and I'm not vegetarian. For reasons best known to me, I went straight to Stealth and only recognised two of the team, so a little worrying but no problem they were very helpful. One of the lads has been working in the park but not on Stealth for three months, therefore it does indicate that staff are all on different levels of experience, and it seems to me that there is less supervision from managers at the moment. At times there were massive gaps which required proper batching. I observed two chaps in the queue both wearing black coaster tee shirts but I did not get a chance to converse - "Hi!" if it's anybody here. Thought things were going too well when on approaching the platform the ride stopped short, and I announced to those around me that we would be there for a while; we were, until released using the "jockey pack".The ride was not fixed by the baffled engineers for at least an hour and a half. The Dodgems had been undergoing a "dead on their sides" maintenance check and finally I got in to a car as they reopened, or rather they did not, as the engineer had left with the control key in his pocket which caused a further delay. The park was really busy, and one of the staff informed me that over 5000 had booked online for yesterday. All the other queues were massive, I.e. over one minute, and so I called it a day (I live local), because, it was, a day, a Wednesday in fact.
  10. Last Saturday the attendance was fairly low, hence no massive queues, but they'd probably seen the weather forecast. As with all parks, they "cover their backs" with the statement that rides "may not be available" but when it's been weeks that's not good. As for this comment "had tried to phone them many times before travelling and could not get to speak to anyone" I have often had that difficulty with TP, so that's not unusual. Oakwood do need to "pull their socks up", and that's my opinion, not another website.
  11. Duh? 'cos he said his problems sometimes occur whilst on Colossus. Unless you can provide a filter that immediately creates an alternative thread, live with it.
  12. Went on Saturday; still the same items closed, no problems caused by fast tracking. It has that "run down" appearance and with plans put on hold some areas are just fenced off. Megaphobia seemed fairly slow in the morning but later that evening, she was really flying, though it was raining. Fireworks mixed with lasers, water fountains and projections were impressive.
  13. Even with ten rides, at £15 that's only £1.50 a ride, bargain. some people I have spoken with on normal days only expect to get about six rides in total. (I too hate it once I've been spoilt)
  14. Are you sure that wasn't on Bubbleworks? seriously though, if you think you are suffering any drop in consciousness you should get checked out by the "vet", I.e. the Doctor. Better safe.
  15. I think you are right - check out what appear to be the gables.
  16. "Hold the front page", I'm booked for Saturday week, and I don't want to be disappointed.
  17. That's a great total, so that must have cost thirteen pence a ride?
  18. Nicely written, well done. Not being one for cities or shopping, I made my main visit in Manhattan the Intrepid museum which is an aircraft carrier, on which there is an aircraft collection, a space shuttle, and then on the dock a Concorde and a submarine beside. I too went to the Grand Central Station to marvel at the architecture beneath.

    Slammer

You have just made a lot of people jealous with that posting.
  20. Ah, must feed that wonderful singing voice!
  21. Ah, I know I will have to wait to see what happens when I visit, but I get annoyed if there's only one person in front of me, it really winds me up a treat when we are then overtaken by others, for whatever reason.
  22. There's no time to eat, not in three hours, surely?
  23. For me it's three weeks until I will be there, looking forward to it again.
  24. Once it got darker though the flies started to challenge my eyeballs, especially on Colossus.
