  1. Yes, I too attended this evening, having had my day at Farnborough. As Jamie said, no waiting and three hours in the park.................... and yes I did leave Stealth. RIDECOUNT: Stealth x17 Nemesis Inferno x3 The Swarm x2 Saw x2 Colossus x3 Total rides 27 Time lost due to one breakdown and one phone retrieval.
  2. Interesting write-up, I wonder if the brands of root-beer vary, as the one I found was drinkable? Enjoy your time and thanks for the updates.
  3. I'm glad you have now ridden it and that you enjoyed it. Now you have an excuse to try the others out, to see how they compare. Megaphobia at Oakwood is probably the best woodie we have in the United Kingdom but those at BPB are brilliant, they each have their own feel.
  4. Had the same thought, but for me it would be Rip Ride Rocket!
  5. Yesterday, I.e. Sunday..... Now I know why I have always avoided going to TP on a Sunday. Bad news for me, Stealth did not open; Slammer did not operate, something to do with the P.A. not working; Two early rides on Nemesis Inferno before the queues quickly got to beyond 45 minutes; Colossus far too busy; I actually like the latest lighting effects in X; the Angry Birds dodgems finally got a test by me and they are pretty good, "nice and clean since the rains", really, they are still clean at the moment. Then, I left the park by one oclock, it was really busy and as many coaches as on a weekday.
  6. Ah, a woman after my own airtime..... having ridden Kingda Ka now, it proved that Stealth is smoother and provides more airtime. Sadly, today, not working at all.
  7. Wooden Warrior at Quassy is a fantastic ride in a quite small area; the park is a very good family park with loads more of the conventional fairground type amusements, we did that on the same day.
  8. Will be there in five weeks. Love Drenched (as well as Tidal Wave) in the right weather, which is hot and drying weather, though I was able to pop off and get dried and changed afterwards. I know there have been discussions before, but I would love to ride it earlier in the day. Megaphobia is fantastic and it is interesting to see how the speed varies during a day.
  9. Nice little vid., where do you get those sound effects of somoene being terrified of every movement of the ride? Perhaps an opening shot of the ride/name entrance fading into the ride would enhance it. Nicely.
  10. It is a brilliant coaster and the park is nicely run. Most of the rides are the older style fairground rides and the strangest chair-o-planes I've ever been on, called "YoYo" and they do.
  11. From my experience, which is on the customer side, if batched properly, it works, if not anticipated, but assessed once the ride is loaded then it will delay. Not sure where is meant that "guests jump queues on Oblivion single riders line"? I thought it ran up to the top and one had to wait, there was a chain across the entrance?
  12. A sweeping statement; if used properly in batching, prior to loading then the load will be full, not if used to hold a train to try and fill a single empty seat. As previously said, some rides cannot accommodate SRQ's, and on some rides, it doesn't actually exist until one is at the platform, and I'm not citing any rides at Thorpe.
  13. Then while you are at Lake Compounce they have another great woodie, Wildcat, well worth a ride.
  14. A surprise recently when I got the chance to ride the Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce. Always had wanted this and suddenly, there I was. This is a brilliant wooden roller coaster that ascends a climb hill through trees across boulder strewn terrain, to then descend around the wooded hill then hug it's contours. Racing between the trees, and bobbing around corners reaching speeds of 60mph. Great airtime and with speed at low level it creates a fantastic ride. Hope I'm allowed to post this link?
  15. If you ever get a chance. This is a very small family park in Connecticut, North America, with a great water park and lake, but a fabulous woodie named Wooden Warrior. This has a very small footprint, only cost one million dollars and is a fabulous wooden roller coaster. http://www.wfsb.com/video?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=10278178
  16. Odd thing is that they are intending not to touch it this year, after the close. So perhaps it has a future life. Luckily for me I attended this park a few weeks back and found it brilliant and excellent staff. Bizarro is great. Sad for Cyclone, though a little rough, great airtime if one anticipates the twist. Cat Woman's Whip - just for the visit to see the "themeing", hmm, nice.
  17. It is difficult on some rights to arrange for single rider access. The staff are under some pressure to fill rides so it is a helpful filler for the empty odd seats. They did get larger groups who were together, forming up in that queue, supposedly prepared to split to occupy single seats, and then they would be the stroppy ones who did not want to separate from their mates, for thirty seconds. Not having SRQ reduces some aggravation for the operators but doesn't help them when managers moan that they have empty seats.
  18. Stealth yesterday was performing great; new team members cottoned on to my needs very quickly and very helpful. Weather was great, staff really do need optional hats. Turned out this is a "schools week", do they never go to school now? Cultural origins can certainly cause problems for staff chaining us in.
  19. With all the good music of that era it's a pity they don't vary it. When visiting several times on one day, though it's good, you do get the same plays. I'm sure there is some budding DJ in the park/resort/island/pit that could put something together.
  20. Rode Leviathon on Sunday at Toronto's Wonderland (four times on my own), without belts at the moment. Later in the day throughput was in excess of 1400 per hour, great ride ops. and a fantastic ride with loads of airtime. Managed to keep the restraint fairly loose which would still need my legs to be broken in three places to get me out of the seat (no offers please).
  21. This is very encouraging because the crew then develop a greater relationship with the riders, and the whole atmosphere improves.
  22. Perhaps just a big bird's nest on top?
  23. Everybody's entitled to an opinion, even if that's the only opinion in that vein. At least there is somewhere else for when it rains.
  24. Gosh, there's going to be some damp birdies today!
