  1. I'd be gutted if Thorpe stopped catering for thrill seekers in future investments... but as it stands, a thrilling family coaster is really needed - fun for everyone (besides young children obviously). This falls into the category of something like Juvelen as mentioned, or personally not so much for the younger end of family thrill seekers, but failing that an intamin mega-lite or mack equivalent.
  2. I'm guessing it could be due to their parking issue and that they need 15 people, probably equally distributed, otherwise just say 5 people on one arm could cause issues?
  3. Stealth is used as their iconic coaster now... and a coaster much higher would make stealth almost seem pointless that it was made high with a top hat from then onwards.
  4. Besides how much of an intense setting it's being run on now... the thing that really bothers me is that it needs something like a minimum of 15 people to be able to ride Samurai, and when you visit on quiet days like I did yesterday you can be waiting around for ages and with no one else joining the queue, so didn't end up riding it in the end! anyone know why this rule is in place?
  5. It seems that it judders less the longer they leave it spinning at the beginning... I'm also guessing the ride cycles are the same, just seems longer as you're up higher quicker. it was literally going over 100degrees either way... never seen it go that high. ever!
  6. Had two unbelievably amazing rides on Vortex today, the first juddered and took a littler longer, but both were up and over 90degrees in no time at all, and where we were sat both times have us such a great ride with us being at the top for the majority of it!!!
  7. So that fire at the bottom of the drop is a new effect? And I don't think the hammers were working... The arrows which caught fire were good and love the headchopper that comes rolling towards you!
  8. The projection was working. What are the two hammers you are on about? And the fire on the last drop was just spectacular as it was in the water and the boat goes over it... Plus the other explosions - I loved it!
  9. It's uncomfortable for me... and I just couldn't enjoy it. Samurai has been great fun the last couple of years (obviously when it was open aha). But this year I didn't enjoy it, so welcome this video of speed wave
  10. I'm happy about that... As samurai was far to extreme this year and I couldn't enjoy it with my legs being flung around! Let's hope I visit soon, it's only 40 minutes away :-)
  11. Just before we got on they took all the sandbags off and we managed to get very back row... Just wow on the drop, the ride did lack in airtime though! The park wasn't too busy... I think the biggest queue was probably 20-30 minutes and others walk on... there was some very heavy rain storms, and the big one did close for an hour or two in the afternoon due to high winds although didn't feel too bad in the park! I did have a great day though and so happy all the fire effects were working on Valhalla... I say all effects - was there a fireball at the top of the first lift hill where the face projection is? As I could smell gas and think I remember it from back in 2008 although last year none of the fire was working at all!
  12. Well ride is on two trains today with the wind not being too bad... Don't know why they're running two trains with only a few rows open and with weight bags in the others. I've just overheard that they're not running the back two rows on both trains due to high winds... Even though they got the weight bags in them!?
  13. Does anybody know what wind speed it is that if exceeded the big one won't operate. as am visiting this weekend, and the wind seems to be getting stronger. Also what winds affect Blackpool tower? Thanks.
  14. I went back in 2008 for my first ever visit when it tilted and thought it was so cool, although admittedly almost missed it after going 3 days in a row, only found it on the last day as its sort of hidden, same with black revolver which was an awesome ride, waltzers in the dark where air race is going now, but that was removed and drunken barrels didn't work properly when I retuned again 2 years ago, and still broke last year, great to see it back working properly again
  15. That explains a lot about pirate adventure then! And saying the park closed at 5, they closes storm force 10 queue about 5 to and there was about a 40minute queue, we were the last ones on aha! The Golden Nugget shoot out is great fun lol... I always though it didn't work properly when mid ride my score kept going to 0... Only to realise this time its a character shooting back at you and if your gun picks it up it resets your score haha!
  16. WARNING: Triple post haha... Just returned from a great, and really sunny day at Drayton manor, and even with it being bank holiday weekend was still relatively quiet, although probably the busiest I've seen it. Crazy that ride close was only 5pm! So happy to see Drunken Barrels working properly, tilting on an angle which it hasn't done for the last 2 years at least. Pirate adventure was running on a stupidly reduced capacity, with a boat coming like every few minutes; storm force and splash canyon also seemed to be running on less boats as well with quite large gaps at times waiting for the next one. Apocalypse stand up no floor wasn't working so may have something to do with the closure of the ride this coming Thursday when they probably fix it. As for air race it doesn't appear much more has been done since the latest photo on here, there were a few people walking around the area throughout the day; there also appears to be some building work going on next to air race, not sure if its for a shop or what, as there are already toilets next door. The queue line and control tower are good ideas, and can't wait to see the ride open which is apparently July according to a 2 for 1 leaflet we were given on the way out the park, although the vouchers end 30th June which is a bit silly!
  17. Just checked it today and there appears to be no , but... *Please Note That Apocalypse will be closed Thursday 8th May for essential maintenance works.
  18. G force reopened a while back... And Maelstrom would now appear to open as it's not mentioned on the website. The Chairlift has seemed to be closed every day this week, unless they're doing it because it's a quiet day.
  19. Nope. Nope. Nope. 3 or 4 is enough for me... I hate it when its only 1 or none at all like 99% of the time on Ripsaw, but Rameses two part cycle is perfect.
  20. I done the old London one back in 2009, and done the new one last September, and again this March, was very enjoyable and better themed as it needed updating from the tired looking old one, just a shame about the roof... The first time I didn't even notice and then seen all the complaints on here about the roof, and on my second visit couldn't help but notice it -.- Anyway looking forward to my first visit to Blackpool Dungeons, as well as Madame Tussaud's, Sea Life & Blackpool Tower... Gotta love Merlin Annual Passes! :-)
  21. The underground sections are seriously a must for dive coasters... that's what makes oblivion so intense! and worthy to be a thrilling coaster - without the tunnel, in my opinion it would be nothing with the basic layout.
  22. 'It's a fully themed experience. That means 360° sets, full on authenticity and theatrical storytelling.' Just spotted this paragraph on the website for Blackpool Dungeons as I am going next weekend... which made me think of London Dungeons, and looked on their page to find exactly the same sentence; surely they don't class a black painted roof with pipes etc. 360degree sets aha!
  23. Travelodge never seem to be too expensive... and there's one right next to BPB, or if that one might be dearer and/or full, there seems to be 2 others in blackpool which aren't going to be too far away.
  24. Guessing it's not on all rides, as I didn't see stealth go til 10... just out of interest does anyone know what rides have been open for annual pass ERT?
  25. oh I could have sworn I seen the rope lighting on more recently and that it was over what is now covered up, and from what I could see it literally just is a black cloth with no rope light over it?
