  1. I just stick my head out, doesn't bother me too much and means I enjoy the ride without banging my head... just looks a bit silly/creepy on the ORP
  2. well I usually head to dark forest and do the two coaster in quick succession when they open, and then head over to forbidden valley so I mean 11am is useless anyway aha, cheers.
  3. What time has the sky ride been opening this season? As I'm not lazy, bit would much prefer to get that across from dark forest to forbidden valley rather than waking across the valley aha. Thanks.
  4. I went on a wednesday can't remember when though, but there were fireworks so it had to be in august... my friend who drove hated mornings so we didn't end up getting there til midday, where she got a disabled pass but was only valid for one person, so that left two of us out, so we bought the fast track vouchers for the main 4 rides, to be fair we did leave the park about 3 to go to the blue lagoon waterpark next door for a couple of hours, and then returned to the park for the evening, and to watch the fireworks at the end... the park was literally heaving with people! In the end I got, log flume x2, snake river falls x1, swinging ship x1, speed x1, drenched x1, megafobia x1, bounce x1, treetops coaster x2... so would love to return off peak to go on the other smaller rides like toboggan ride which had like a 60 minute queue! but they don't seem to open besides weekends in september which I work weekends unfortunately, so will have to try and go after dark again in august and spend the full day there as I'd want to go for the fireworks as they were pretty decent
  5. only been oakwood once, last summer for the after dark, and was packed, so never done that ride... but was probably for the best anyways hopefully I shall return next month though!
  6. it's hilarious to watch... just not so sure if I want to go on it and risk getting humiliated... oh and soaked!
  7. The leg room on any train on Colossus is almost unbearable for me... I have to psych myself up before going on it, and try not to panic while on it, seriously help me if it ever breaks down on me - I love the ride. Just get so claustrophobic on it, which doesn't help being 6ft!
  8. the year it opened, I went on it and it was enjoyable but was so slow and smooth... now it really feels like it's getting more forceful, and dare I say scary!
  9. since last year it has apparently got smoother in general... but I will literally only ride it front row, which is a pain as it normally takes forever with only 2 per train, but it's the only place I can enjoy it without it being too rough!

    Slammer

It did open yesterday afternoon, as I was sat in the burger king, seeing it testing, and then seen some kids run up the queue to go on it, and rode it. not sure how long it stayed open for though.
  11. Flying fish (5 laps) x1 Stealth (back row) x3 Swarm (front row) x2 Nemesis inferno (back row) x2 (front row) x1 X (back row) x4 or 5 can't remember just kept going back through the disabled entrance. Saw (front row) x1 Colossus (front row) x1 Dodgems x1 Barely any queues (just a bit annoying for front row on one train) I quite liked that it was 7-10 because the park closes at 6 so didn't leave too long, although was worried how much time we'd get in the dark but was considerably dark by 9 to be fair so was good... And boiling! Didn't like how no one seemed to check the bands as people could still have been in the park like having food knowing it's on... Plus I also seen tickets advertised as a fiver in park for people wanting to go, which is surely unfair on people who booked at 15 in advanced!? Probably could have done a lot more but had a nice chilled evening and stopped for food in burger king

    X

    Where's the smoke/fog gone in X... Haven't seen it for a while
  13. If we are getting a dark ride for 2016... I mean if there's the available space... yes please!
  14. swarm felt more intense than ever yesterday at summer nights... this ride is getting some serious love from me as it's getting older!
  15. Slammer was actually operational in the afternoon, I'm not sure how long it lasted for though again. Loggers leap broke about half 1 for a little bit. And tidal wave did open about 4ish. Considering it was supposed to be busy there weren't really many queues over an hour, and don't think I managed to queue over 15 mins, got a great ride count! Summer nights was equally as good although did lack atmosphere, but I guess I'd rather have it quiet... With regards to the wristbands we were told to collect them from fast track booths in the park, and that they didn't have any wristbands at advance ticket collection which was a bit odd. Great to see the staff in general having a good time on summer nights though aha EDIT: And also having a lot of hate for the more intense samurai this year as I didn't enjoy it so much in comparison to it being smooth last year... had an absolute belter of a ride, not sure what setting, but row 1, and swear I spent most of the ride upside down for crashing face down towards the floor. highlight of my day!
  16. when I done my first one back in 2009 it was so pointless I went through the whole thing with my eyes closed haha! now I refuse to go at the front but will happily direct the person in front which I've done on a few occasions with my dad as he can't see in the dark I'm still crapping myself now, but keep wanting to go back on them - don't know what is wrong with me haha!
  17. the park closes at 6 tomorrow, with summer nights starting at 7 so it should be fine... plus most if not all the schools will be left by 5. it's next month when the park closes as summer nights start gotta be worried about!
  18. absolutely terrified of scary films and will have nightmares... but somehow look forward to the scare events, and get some sort of weird adrenaline buzz being scared in the mazes, even though I refuse to watch the films!
  19. visiting tomorrow, and spending the day in the park too as 3 hours would be a waste... although dreading how busy it is going to be, considering thorpe has warned on their website about high numbers of school trips, plus it's supposed to be 30c tomorrow like the hottest day of the year, so I think it's time to redeem my £5 fast track voucher from the merlin pass perk pack and get myself a hydration fast track for all the water rides! and have a pretty chilled day enjoying the flat rides, and then bring on the evening, shame now it's only open til 10 it probably won't get dark though.
  20. looks great, besides it lacks any proper rollercoaster really which is a real shame... although really cool as the cars spin.
  21. it's in a popular holiday resort, people can get to salou and stay in some cheap hotel, have a summer holiday and visit port aventura while there... we just don't have the weather in the UK, which gives tourist destinations like that - otherwise blackpool would be amazing aha!
  22. I went to Florida back in 2005, and got speaking to a lot of people while over there in the hotel and in the theme parks, and most, because we were british asked about alton towers and talking about nemesis as it's apparently one of the worlds best coasters... now I'm not sure if the worlds general perception of nemesis has changed but I still think it's the UK's only world class coaster, and seen back then how people were saying they wanted to visit alton towers. So I think Thorpe is probably best not wasting money trying to drag people from abroad to them, as said above thorpe park is nothing special in comparison to theme parks abroad... alton towers is the only one with any appeal really and moreso with the new enchanted forest resort area, on top of their hotels and waterpark - only issue is the location which can put people off getting to it in the UK, let alone people coming from abroad.
  23. I'm sure a lot of that is down to throughputs though, as well as the fact it appeals to everyone rather than just the thrill market... which is good, but I still need a good thrill every few years to keep me going back - in which case if they add a good flat then I'll be happy with a well themed and fun family coaster dark rides are usually a no for me, unless the likes which contain a somewhat thrilling 'ride'.
  24. that is a good point... although family rides are good... I'd hate to see relaxed restrictions area be wasted on a family coaster, leaving no room or suitable restrictions for a big thrilling coaster which is mainly the whole reason for going theme parks and what gets the majority of guests to visit (seeing how busy the smiler constantly is).
  25. This is more for 2016/2017 large investment, but would much rather see a family coaster - and if they do, the likes of juvelen is perfect for up for it families, or even something like piraten or alpina blitz as they both have a lower height restriction (1.2)... Although they may not be the most thrilling roller coasters they look great fun. And j feel that is what thorpe is missing from their coaster lineup, whereas Alton has 13 and sonic spinball! For 2015 I mean the word of a Zac spin was new to me... They look/are amazing after riding the one in Terra mitica, but shame about the accident, and I wonder where the ride stands in terms of safety to be building any more. I mean a top spin would go nicely in that area next to nemesis inferno!
