  1. Say I'd never been to Thorpe park, as a thrill seeker seeing that advert, it doesn't really make me want to go to there. It's lost its thrill capital status which was such an important tag line.
  2. I wrote somewhere in this topic... last year it was raining a bit, and a pretty chilly day, and as it was just me and my friend about to go on, the operator spoke to us and said if we wanted the water jets on or off, and we agreed to keep them off so we could sit on the outsides! I love the idea of water jets, makes the ride so much more interesting... but maybe have the jets in tiny bursts every few seconds rather then keeping them on for a bit and then off as it literally does get you soaked, and unless it's a boiling hot day (which I've never experienced at chessington) then it's not really something you want to happen.
  3. I think it's quite cool... I'm just seriously gutted at how much they're targeting towards families now - I'm just fearful for any future investments in terms of thrilling/scary rollercoasters and flat rides, or being the lack of more to the point :/
  4. I know it's getting off topic... but don't think in the past 5 years of going thorpe park since my first visit, or alton towers in the same time scale, have I had a breakdown that's occurred all day, and stopped me from having the chance to ride every ride (besides rameses closure, and samurai and slammer which is expected - also had nemesis which was closed all day and opened just as the park closed and had an extra 20 mins ride time!), which I think is pretty damn lucky! so I can't really understand where you're exactly coming from... in my opinion they're all as bad as each other, and have some really bad days by the sounds of it, but other okay days.
  5. Yeah it's probably legit... But they have clearly been much behind schedule, building amazu, to only just bring the animals in.... Plus if they are refurbing safari skyway trains then they can't use the animals as an excuse, even if they aren't running it to not scare the animals.
  6. Led down on my phone actually, but ya know it seems to be complication after complication, and promise things, that's what's annoying. Ah well lol.
  7. Two trains is fine, as three does ruin the experience partially with the stop in the middle and then waiting again in the brakes before the station... They just seriously need more, or more experienced staff and / or instructions to make the whole process quicker!
  8. This is what frustrates me so much... It should have all been done before they open for the season, and things like this happen every year by the sounds of it!
  9. Oh that's good am staying in the hotel next week... Completely forgot about that, think I done it once probably about 10 years ago in all fairness!
  10. I plan my day by going on sonic first and then (or) straight to 13 and rita whilst they're quiet, and then walk accross the valley to forbidden valley and do the rides there a couple of times, and then back through to mutiny bay, then cloud cuckoo, and then x sector, can get it all done between about 10 and 2/3 with lunch stop included even when it's relatively busy - so now I get ERT with my annual pass it just annoys me the ERT rides are over the other bit of the park which leaves 13 and rita to be done when it's a lot busier later on in the day, so probably won't use ERT, but would just be in my mind the fact that I got it and am not using it!
  11. http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b527/DeanGaryCox/Mobile%20Uploads/20140321_143236_zps45f04deb.jpg Hopefully you can view that... I spotted this today, what is red and white tape doing around the track, and how is it staying on with the wheels passing over it!?
  12. Visited today Stealth x3 (front row x1, back row x2) The Swarm x3 (front row x2, backwards x1) Colossus x1 (front row x1) Saw x1 (front row - if that counts aha) Nemesis x1 (front row x1) X x2 (front row x1, back row x1) Vortex, Quantum, Detonator, Storm Surge & Depth Charge x1 Rush x3 Loggers Leap, Rumba Rapids & Tidal Wave x2 Got let in 10 minutes early as we were annual pass holders and managed two goes on The Swarm (which had all effects but water working) before the park opened to the general public which was great. The rides seemed to be running really well with the only downtime I noticed was Rush towards the end of the day (but was running a nice cycle the 3 times I was on it), Vortex was shaking quite bad, but once it got going had quite a lengthy cycle and did eventually get just over 90degrees and sustained it. Max queue was probably about 20/25 minutes all day which happened to be for Colossus as it was running one train, which made it almost an hour queue for us waiting for front row, but guess was worth it, as it's the only place I'll ride it considering it's so rough (but I do enjoy the layout so have to ride it), both this and Saw gave me a bit of a headache, so no improvement there - Stealth & Nemesis Inferno (which didn't have any mist today, such a shame) were also only running one train which made front row queue a bit of a pain, but the normal queue was only about 10/15 minutes. Loved the improvements on X, although the music had far too much bass at times so couldn't even hear/recognise the song(s)! I swear The Swarm & Colossus seemed a lot faster this year, as well as Loggers Leap & Rumba Rapids being a lot wetter! Highlight of the day was Rush being walk on, and got two consecutive goes which I have never seen before, and as it's my favourite ride, yes I was very happy! Seen people in the control booth of Samurai but never seen it going all day, and nothing seemed to be happening around slammer whatsoever, which is a shame but hopefully we'll see it open this season at some point (preferably when I'm there aha!) Bring on what looks to be another great year for Thorpe with all the nice little improvements and gradually bettering park operations, as well as Angry Birds 4D cinema and dodgems which are going to be great fun, and a well needed addition away from head-aching rollercoasters and sickening flat rides.
  13. over the last two or 3 years having ridden both in excess of 10 times, I have only ever experienced a good cycle on ripsaw once, and that was last year when the people on the ride we're shouting is that it, so they sent us round again with a more extreme cycle and managed 4 spins/flips... rameses revenge every time gives 2 cycles and 3 flips on the second part of the cycle (whereas ripsaw only doesn't even do one!). as far as I remember ripsaw does the first part of the 2 part cycle on rameses. so that's why I'm hating on ripsaw.
  14. I was rather dissapointed if I must say by the POV... I was so excited to see it, as it looked better than the swarm and raptor, but if I'm honest due to lack of near misses, and not much of a better layout, the swarm looks better, as well as raptor which I'd love to ride!
  15. I love nemesis sub-terra!!! Just creates such a tense atmosphere that scares me every time aha...

    X

X was even better this year if that's even possible... Loving the new layout of lights and lasers, plus sufficient smoke. Shame the music had too much bass to actually hear what it was!
  17. Samurai is listed as closed today ah well there's still the rest of the year !
  18. So annual pass holders got let in about ten to today for what they call early ride time aha... Anyway the swarm was running on two trains straight away with sound effects and fire working, just a shame about no water feature on the helicopter turn. Felt faster this year as well

    Slammer

that is true indeed, although I did hear last year that people we're stuck on it for an hour or two last year up in the air, and then was closed for the rest of the year... my problem is I get uncomfortable and clausterphobic being stuck aha - Colossus, although one of my favourite rides, is horrible restraints wise!
  20. OldFarmerDean

    Slammer

at this rate if I do get round to riding it... I'll be too scared of it breaking down on me (as if I don't get enough thoughts in my heads with other rides! #paranoid)
  21. how come thorpe don't show KFC, Pizza Hut or Burger King on their website? and guessing you don't get 20% annual pass discount of these?
  22. fingers crossed for my visit tomorrow I guess... will be sure to let you know if it's open.
  23. When I seen the logo, I did think of Intamin ZacSpin because of the circular saw shape, which is seen on the trains of those coasters... so S&S free spin isn't far off

    X

I would love for an ORP... not because I'd buy it, just simply because it would create a cool strobe effect from the flash aha!
  25. to be fair it's gotta be something BIG considering they've decided to announce it this early...
