I think likewise Baron, I feel like their prolonged Overhangs are some of the most ugly, uncomfortable looking inversions out there. Having said that, I haven't ridden one or seen one in person so I cannot judge, but oh my this ride is one of the most wild coasters I have ever seen - Wood or steel.

There are numerous reasons for a sign like this to be placed, including the fact that as said above, people will be wondering why there are people in the attraction even if it is closed to the general public. Not only this but have you seen some of the visitors theme parks gain these days? One of the reasons why the theme park industry as a whole has evolved is because of the audience it attracts. It wouldn't surprise me at all, if that sign weren't up, if a bunch of guests would jump the fence in order to get in the queue. (not on this attraction but) I have seen that happen before too. It makes perfect sense to have that sign up, and at the end of the day if Thorpe choose to use it, then it will be used.

The only thing that Stealth has in case of a rollback is the emergency zeppelin fins. All Intamin Accelorators have these as far as I'm aware, even if rollbacks would never happen (I.e. Rita) Anti Rollbacks on lift hill coasters are much more obvious. They are a line of teeth that goes up an entire lift hill to the point at which the carriage is swept away by momentum and gravity. You can normally hear them clicking away! Of course, with ride technology comes changes, ala Smiler, which features similar anti rollback technology to that found on stealth. In the case of a break down, the ride is designed to pop these fins up, so that the train can roll slowly back down the 2 lifts to a location of easier, and safer evacuation.

I genuinely thought blue fire was too tame. Don't get me wrong it's a solid ride, but still, there's not much about it that makes me think wow.

I'm not gonna drown you with words, or pictures either. I just want to demonstrate how I fell in love with Wodan. From the entrance, Wodan sits on the far right hand side of the park. you have to walk through most areas to get there, and the pathways there are limited, but stunningly themed, however when you emerge in Iceland you are treated to this gem of a view. The ride casts an intimidating shadow over the rest of Iceland, and it's thunderous roar is well reserved until you arrive in this area. It's 2 neighbours, Atlantica Super Splash and Blue Fire dance around the far ends of Wodan, creating some stunning pirouetting like synchronization if you're lucky. (I was not) Wodan alone is a reason to visit Europa Park. Hel(l), it's queue alone is a reason to visit. There was a certain, euphoric satisfaction I got from this ride that has only been achieved once before. As an experience, this is entirely complete. It submerges the rider, right from the entrance, in another world. The queue never stopped moving, the ride roared past you regularly building up a sense of enigmatic tension, and the sights you bare witness to in this queue are unmatched by anything I have ever experienced in a theme park. Wodan is a truly complete ride, with a perfect amount of theming, unique character and intensity. Whilst I feel like Europa as a whole was overhyped during my visit; this ride certainly wasn't. It sits timidly at the back of the park, enticing you in. And when you do come off of it, you just want to ride it again. The biggest surprise for me is the fact you still went to Alton Towers despite boldly protesting you weren't going if the ride closures were to take place. Which they did. And you go anyway. You are the ultimate embodiment of the things you so boldly protest against. Fright nights fee.. This.. you still go, and at the end of the day if you can't stop yourself who are you to tell others to. I am glad for you that you seemed to enjoy your day, but the fact you continue to complain about something you said would stop you from visiting entirely is quite immature. I couldn't agree more with this comment. Just because this is happening, it's hardly jeopardizing the potential of a cross valley one too. I would say though planning permission for the cross valley would be a pain, considering the amount of noise barriers they've had to use on this one. But yes, just because this is happening, it doesn't mean cross valley won't, especially if it's going to be a different type of ride for a different audience.

yes, the original model was made by BigAl I believe A lot of the towers people are saying how underwhelming it appears. To be fair, I can understand their concern, however the banking is extremely impressive and there are some clear pops of (potential) airtime. The inversion is displayed as an overbank which could be some great fun, although the long straight but does look... awkward. It really does question what could go there. It should go without saying that (from my knowledge) towers can still alter this a fair bit, as seen with Smiler's plans, so we may not be looking at even a rough final product.

I was so convinced that I was going, particularly due to the sentimental value of this trip, however I've checked my calendar and I'm at Parc Asterix on the 3rd with my family... which is over 500 miles in the wrong direction. Bugger.

considering it's nearly been a year since my last one, I've decided to revisit. Buuut it's got to the point now where I've kind of given up ordering them, because my number 1 is still pretty solid and the rest are just a jumble. 1. Balder Dash the rest: Wodan - Having ridden this at Europa it was the only one that surpassed my expectations. Being brutally honest the park was rather over hyped for me in terms of ride quality, however this ride was rather piped down in how well it has been recieved. For me it was a truly relentless ride, and is a main reason for a revisit. Th13teen - backseat airtime is dees. Saw - This has grown on me a lot since last season. It just makes me feel so yup. Winjas - ayy That's it really.. I have a fair amount of varied creds but to be honest if I added any others to my list it'd be half BS because I barely remember them.

My response is no, solely because UK prices are the same/cheaper then many international parks. The fact alone that we can get so many deals with parks too, I.e. online purchases, cereal tickets etc. makes them substantially cheaper then international parks. A ticket to Disney could cost twice the price of a ticket to thorpe easily, and many european parks of a similar size/quality to merlin parks can cost up to €50, with no availability of deals. It's standard internationally and its just our culture demands cheaper deals constantly.

Very much appreacite your comments guys, I think it's great as a community we can calmly discuss things such as these, although I must say I'm slightly surprised that the people who raise these issues and are the frontline to critique the park are still to reply.

The tate modern has seen 2 of its galleries close for ongoing renovation since 2014 I believe? Its a bit of a building site. It seems the link is already down
