  1. I dont think you understand my point! All maze tactics are 'cheap'. Towers is selling their whole event on the basis of 'touching'. That's just gimmicky. Thorpe just does it... Also the reason why the Smiler is closed has no bearing on the point that it is closed.

I'd like to point out that if Towers' marketing is based on touching that's because it is a pretty big deal for them as I'm sure this is the first year they've gotten rid of their non-touching rule. SCB did Sub Species yesterday, and the 'touching' was extreme - he got yanked from room to room, dragged down a tunnel, pushed, as well as the normal stroking, poking etc we'd see at Thorpe... This was something else, something like we'd expect from a face it alone at Thorpe.

  2. Okay so I'm gonna go ahead and assume no one else here is as girly as me and watches the series Hair on BBC.

Basically in the latest episode they did two challenges. Firstly they did the hair for the actors in the London Dungeons, and secondly I came across a bit of a spoiler for a change coming to all dungeons across the country quite soon.

*SPOILERS* (can't use the spoiler thing on my phone)

The dungeons are introducing a new character. She is called Miss Edmunds, she was 43, an immaculate perfectionist, lived in the Victorian ages and was known for poisoning people with chocolates

I don't know what they're doing with her but for the challenge they had to design a hairdo for her, and the winner is the one that will actually be used for the character.

Maybe this could explain why there have been all these changes? Maybe they're rebuilding part of the set for the new scenes and have had to do a quick bodge job to get around missing certain scenes? (coming from someone who never saw the old dungeon with Sweeney so bear with me).

But yeah, maybe. Big changes definitely on their way.

  3. So very early on Saturday morning I leave the country to travel to Holland and attempt to complete the Nijmegen Marches, a hundred mile march over four days. Over 40-thousand people do it each year and about 5,000 complete it in military teams, wearing full kit and carrying weight. This year one of those 5,000 is me.

I confess that although I completed the march last year as part of a civilian team, I'm getting more and more worried the closer it gets about doing it in kit this year as I think I'll struggle with the weight and heat.

Other than that I'm really excited and can't wait for the experience, but that doesn't mean I can't be nervous! :D

  4. I advise everybody to avoid the rest of this week and next week at all costs unless planning to only use RnR.... :excl:

School trip cattlepens are out today, and the whole concrete car park if blocked off for use of coaches :o

Luckily we aren't going today, SCB just needs to renew his pass!

  5. If you ignore the Alton Towers part (I don't believe it will lead to Towers' death either) the principal is good. Yes it's some people's fault for believing everything they read but most people are generally going to believe what they read, and the papers know this. Therefore they are more at fault. This incident is the one that has opened my eyes due to what I have learned recently on here, but most people won't have that.
