  1. Sometimes you just have to be really insistent with them. My mum had salmonella food poisoning and went in for tests before they diagnosed it, was so ill she could hardly walk yet got told to go home and await her results in a week or so. She turned around to the person and practically yelled at him about how she felt like she was dying so no she wasn't going to "go home and await her results", and that she would sit and wait for as long as it took...

They got her both the results and a person to talk to her about treatment within a few hours.

And there doesn't seem to be a link back to the main site anywhere, unless I'm being dumb?

If you mean on mobile, you can go back to home by pressing the logo at the top :)

  3. It kind of irks me that people are using 'a ride vehicle is outside the building' as a reason it's been 'delayed for ages'.

Pretty sure we don't know that's a ride vehicle. All we saw was what appeared to be half a tube train poking out of the building. Who knows, it could be a massive theming element for inside and outside that moves in and out as if to scare you that you're going to be run over. It's so huge I definitely cant imagine several of them moving about inside there. Also it has been fenced up now for at least two weeks so we can't see it, so now no one knows how it's moving or not.

Maybe it is a ride vehicle, maybe that's the space where the spare will be parked as we see no other evidence of any form of maintenance shed.

Basically, summed up, we don't know anything. Though if it's there and has just been fenced off so we can't see, my guess is it's meant to be there.

I for one am putting my trust in Thorpe, we can't try and guess anything by looking at the outside of the building. After all, all we can really see is a queueline, and they're well known for being the last priority ride builders have during construction.

Is that in the forum itself or the new content page?

Can confirm if you click the blue dot on the main page or next to a sub forum it acts like 'mark forum as read' for that section like on the old desktop site, and if you press the blue dot/star (depending if you've posted in it before) next to a topic link it will take you to the oldest unread post in that topic :)

I thought they were completely animatronic? They seem to small and robotic to have actual people in (especially the baby), and the Demon seems to slim.

The baby panda is one of those half body suits with a fake arm underneath to look like yours and your real arm goes inside it to control it kind of like a hand puppet. The large pandas have people in, they interact with objects that move about etc, there is no way they can be remote controlled to do that much.

Also there was an advert out for actors to go in some kind of panda suit a while ago on the Merlin job site, with a quite specific height/body size requirement if I remember correctly.

The desktop theme does the same (unless I'm doing something wrong), it's the only unlikable part as it means you have to have a good memory for finding the last post you read in a topic.

I always had that experience on the old desktop site too :pardon:

On another note noticed a thing with the new desktop site, not sure what I make of all the personal information about a person that gets shown under the avatars now.

Firstly the way it's displayed makes it difficult to differentiate the facts from each other and looks quite messy.

Secondly it is just quite a lot of information. As well as all the info we used to have like post count, title, what group they're in and their username (which imo was all you need to know about a person when just reading a post) we now see people's gender, where they live, interests, favourite ride AND favourite park, and depending on how much they have written on their own profiles it's a lot of text and makes the posts take up a lot of space. Also just not really sure how I feel about all that about me being put out there every single time I post. People want to know what I'm interested in, they can click on my profile.

  7. As said, Reserve 'n' Ride is a separate system to fast track, it was trialled a few times last year but haven't heard much about it this season. Went well if you knew about it but if you didn't and just queued normally it was horrific.

Back to the apps, haven't heard about the Thorpe one for a while... However Chessington have a quite good app running at the moment that they seem to be pushing quite a lot at the moment, so maybe it's that goes well they may consider doing something similar for Thorpe :)

  8. Ghost train doesn't necessarily just mean ghosts, as the monster shows. Although I would like actual ghosts to play a part as one of the 12 scenarios.

Going by some of the merch in the new store I'd definitely say ghosts are possible, almost certain, some of the designs (faces very faintly disguised in a bed of cogs, and the hand and face imprint merch that's been out since the end of last season) definitely points to them

  9. Aside from Tidal's fireball, if we're still even counting that, does that now mean all of the previous operational effects on Thorpe rides are currently working?

No. Was on park today, no water splashes on Swarm, no geseyers (though I haven't seen them for a while) or mist on Inferno, and the blades after Saw's drop weren't turning and some of the speakers and screens weren't operational. Also didn't see the tidal water tower go off

  10. I didn't do anything that went upside down for years, then I got dragged on Colossus (?!) and loved it. You don't really register that you're upside down when it happens, it's just another movement as it all happens so quickly anyway you don't really have time to register it :)

You're already beating me, I still refused to do Stealth for years after cracking inversions...

  11. The lie was 2! I used to be scared of Bubbleworks - I still am a bit but I wouldn't class it as "scared".

1 - My cats are named Max and Ruby!

3 - I have a fear of heights, which is why I shut my eyes at the top of every coaster.

Isn't it meant to be Whatever's turn now?

  12. I know it was mentioned before that you could wear glasses with it, but now it's actually open, is that in fact the case? Not that I'd be able to experience the VR properly anyway!

You can try and wear your glasses with but it is recommended you don't, if they don't fit you either wear it anyway and don't see, or (as some guy on our first ride did as his would not fit under the headset) just ride without the headset and your glasses.

I also found the headset was clearest when quite low down on the nose (something that some with larger noses may not be able to do) but that may just be me being long sighted. Managed to get the headset to not move on only one ride of five but I had to do it up so tight I actually gave myself a headache :(

  13. A lot of the staff who work at the park are enthusiasts themselves, I feel a lot of people seem to forget this factor, and so they're probably going to be following the attraction as close as us, so if anything I feel that the staff will be appreciative of people taking photos.

Having lived in the local area my whole life I also know that an awful lot are local teens needing money who have just gravitated to the large local place of employment among that age range.

Still think they will be happy about the photos though, park advertising and all that.

Unless the people taking photos start to hinder/get in the way of people that actually want to buy things

  14. Just out of interest, what is the field of view like on the headsets? Is it tunnel vision like the original Rift was?

You can look from side to side but if the video isn't correctly synced with the ride or you aren't looking straight when they sync it you can see the edges

  15. In a day on Twitter they went from 'we strongly advise you wear the headset' to 'YOU MUST WEAR IT.' though since the post saying you have to they have gona back to just saying 'you wouldn't be experiencing it properly without it', as if it isn't compulsory?

  16. Then they should do some research. It's an ignorant and stupid petition otherwise, like asking Alton Towers to bring Ripsaw back. All the parts for Ripsaw have gone to scrap (probably), so they can't bring it back, much like all the rides have gone elsewhere, meaning they can't bring American Adventure back.

Most petitions are if you actually research what they're about. But even so, even if they research it people still think there's a small chance they can make someone do something by sheer force of numbers. Who are we to say they're wrong? It's heritage, maybe some millionaire will see it and be touched and do something... And maybe they can convince Alton Towers to buy another topspin.

Small chance, but if people want to sign a petition to try, there's no harm in it.
