POTIONMAGIX Parc Asterix 2012 B&M Invert Construction pics. This B&M Invert will also have an MCBR and should therefore run 3 trains... I'm sure this new coaster will persuade quite a few to get out to Parc Asterix, as it has sort of been needing something like this for a while. It also really does have some Montu-like features to it too! :DEDIT: I Tried posting some pictures originally, but it wouldn't let me and said "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board" :(

Hersheypark have announced SKYRUSH, a new Intamin ( ) Wing-Rider, which seems to have involved them going "Ohh, maybe launching it isn't a good idea?"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmRo6l9yxr4&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Also making this different to Baco aside from the lift hill, only the outside seats will be floorless... For... some reason... So there you go... A Hyper-Wing-Rider Coaster...

I feel so sorry for Hershey here, quite clearly B&M have designed a ride that has set a far higher standard with their new wing-rider trains and Hershey are left with an Intamin that is trying to improve on Furios Baco by trying to be the jack of all trades and the master of none. I look at that video and just can't quite work out what the ride's main purpose is because Farenheit and Storm Runner pretty much cover all bases anyway.Ah well.

Freestyle Music Park (the park formerly known as Hard Rock Park) might get a 3rd chance to prove it's worth to the theme park world...

The theme park formerly known as Freestyle Music Park might be back in business in time for summer 2012.FPI US LLC, the mortgage holder of the former park that has been closed for two years, bought the property out of foreclosure this week with a goal of reopening the theme park in Fantasy Harbour in time for next summer, its attorneys said Wednesday.“There’s a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel,” said David Slough, an attorney for FPI US.Elected leaders and business owners near the park heralded the news Wednesday, saying it could help rejuvenate an area that desperately needs it.“Any time you can take something that is dead and you can bring some life to it, it is good,” said Horry County Councilman Gary Loftus, whose district includes the theme park area.FPI US is looking for either a partner to manage and operate the park or a buyer who can purchase the park and reopen it, Slough said.Talks are in the early stages, so it’s not clear exactly when the park would open, whether it would still be called Freestyle or whether it would create a new theme.“They hope it reopens and it’s a big success,” said Franklin Daniels, an attorney for FPI US. “They don’t want to see it be a vacant theme park. They are not willing to just let it go.”FPI US LLC, which had foreclosed on former park operators FPI MB Entertainment LLC a year ago, bought the property at the Horry County foreclosure auction Monday through a “credit bid” of $7 million. That means FPI US gets the property but doesn’t pay that amount because it’s already owed more than that by the former park operators. The total debt was $34 million, according to court records. Other businesses that were still owed money by Freestyle are out of luck.FPI US won the auction over one other bidder, Alton Swann, a real estate professional in Myrtle Beach who said during a brief telephone conversation Wednesday that he had been working on a plan to bring somebody in to take over the park.“I’d just like to see something happen to it,” he said. “It’s a shame to see it go to waste.”The 50-acre theme park has sat idle for about two years, a far cry from the hoopla that marked its first and second openings during a two-year period. The theme park, which was built for $400 million, originally was branded as Hard Rock Park and debuted in 2008. It filed for bankruptcy protection after a slow first season. The park’s second run started early the following year when a group of investors bought it out of bankruptcy for $25 million in February 2009 and reopened it as Freestyle Music Park a few months later. It also fell into financial troubles after just one summer - a season where tourism statewide took a hit because of the lagging economy that kept many people from traveling or prompted them to cut back on their spending if they did go on vacation. The park has been closed since, riding a wave of cases in court. With the litigation behind it, the park can move forward, Daniels said.FPI plans to look at what went wrong the first two times the park operated, identify what needs to happen to make the park a success and find a buyer or good partner to manage the park, Daniels said. That means the theme, marketing and ticket prices – which some critics said were too high, especially during the tough economy – all will be reviewed, he said. Tickets for admission to Freestyle started at about $40 for adults and about $30 for children, though the park dropped them later in the summer 2009 to less than $20 for special promotions.“Many things in the past have to be done differently,” Daniels said. “They’ve learned a lot of hard lessons, lost a lot of money. But they are committed to it.”Some business owners in the Fantasy Harbour area, off U.S. 501 at the Intracoastal Waterway, said a revived theme park could be the first step in getting the area back to where it should be. A re-opened theme park could bring more people to the area and make it look better, said Robbie Love, owner of The X Sports Center off George Bishop Parkway near the park.“Definitely, that’s a boost,” he said. “That should be a good shot in the arm for the area.”Having the park reopen might not translate into more business at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center on Fantasy Harbour Boulevard, but it would help the look of the area, said Lori Posma, the hotel’s sales director.“That would be great,” she said. “Just the perception of the area - everybody says it looks so decrepit over here...Any action over here would be fabulous.”During the past two years, theme park operators and others have stopped by the park interested in buying some of the rides, but the investors didn’t want to sell off the park piece by piece, still optimistic that the theme park could eventually work in Myrtle Beach, Daniels said. A small crew has continued to work at the park, including an engineer who regularly runs the rides to keep them in shape, Daniels said.“You start selling off the rides, you destroy the value of the theme park,” he said. “They truly are committed. They want to see it reopen. They want to see it work.”But they’ve learned lessons from the park’s back-to-back failures, Daniels said.Loftus said a theme park can work in the Myrtle Beach area if it’s done right.“There were many issues that kind of led to the demise of the first two. Obviously, there were a heckuva lot more that went wrong than right,” Loftus said. “Done correctly, and with the right marketing, it should have a chance.”One culprit that hampered the park’s second run was the Great Recession, which led to an 8 percent drop in tourism in South Carolina in 2009, according to figures released this week by the S.C. Parks, Recreation and Tourism department. Tourism throughout the state generated $14 billion in 2009, down about $1 billion from the previous year.Tourism officials have said the industry has picked up since then.FPI’s talks with potential managers or buyers are in the early stages, and it’s unclear when FPI would announce details of a reopening. It probably would take between six and nine months to adequately prepare the park and promote it, though Freestyle owners did it in three months after they bought the park out of bankruptcy.“There’s no timeframe,” Daniels said. “They are working hard.”Posma of the Clarion hotel, like Loftus, said a theme park could be successful here.“If they take input they have learned and apply it, commit to it, I think they can make it work,” she said. “I’m hoping for the best.”

Rotherham, Yorkshire could soon be getting an Oriental touch, as outline planning permission has been granted for ‘leisure use’. The park, which would be named ‘Visions of China’, is set to feature numerous Rollercoasters and Thrill Rides, as well as a Temple, a China Town Retail street, an Oriental Spa plus much more, all inspired by Beijing’s Forbidden City. The Theme Park is expected to create 200 jobs during its construction period, with 380 permanent jobs to become available once open. Peter Moore, formerly marketing director at the Alton Towers Resort said: “I believe it will be, no doubt, one of the most exciting projects British tourism will have seen for decades.”http://www.ukparknews.co.uk/entry/cms/?p=5899

Love the sound of that, I'll believe it when I see it though - getting all the funding in place with the current markets is not going to be easy.If it does happen though it could be something to give Merlin a kick up the arse, can only be good for us if major parks start trying to outdo each other. The name sucks though.

It's quite shocking to think that that is the first custom-built B&M to be built since 2007. From a ride manufacturer who's inverted coasters were so popular during the last decade, to see that slowing demand for them is cause for concern surely? Not in the sense that they're about to go bust; that'd be ridiculous, but it'd be awful to see them simply drift out of popularity. The last one built was Phaethon, in 2007, in Japan, but other than that this new one at Parc Asterix is the first one in five years.

A think it's at a point where there are so many inverters all over that parks who want one will have one, and parks that dont have them will have a B&M alternative such as Tivoli gardens with their floorless for instance or Port Aventura with their sit down coaster.

This past week or two, parks' 2012 projects seem to have really kicked up a gear, and track has now arrived at Hershey for Skyrush:Posted ImagePic: CF hereI like the colour! Also, the track gauge looks a bit more meaty for the new (presumably heavier) trains compared to that on I305 and Formula Rossa... Will be interesting, if slightly pointless. Always nice to see new concepts.Speaking of which...Posted ImagePicThis be on a piece of the new B&M at Canada's Wonderland... It looks like this really might be B&M's first giga coaster. Insane. The announcement is tomorrow...2012 might just be the coolest year ever - LC12, Asterix Invert, Dollywood wingrider, Canada's wonderland giga, and just because it sounds a bit weird, Skyrush! Lots to look forward to!And one unfortunate piece of news to finish off. In the wake of some idiot being stupid, my favourite pair of coasters is ruined. Yay.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Universal Orlando is making a big change to one of the key attractions at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter after a second incident on the ride in two weeks left another park patron injured. The injuries happened on the Dragon Challenge dual roller coaster. In both cases, riders say something struck them on a portion of the ride where the two coaster trains come close together at a high rate of speed. In the latest incident, 19-year-old Jon Wilson, of Ohio, says something struck him in his foot, arm and face on Thursday."My sister was sitting next to me at the time, and when I said I was hit she thought it was a bug or something, but then she looked over and I had blood on my hands, so it was obviously something more," Wilson said.In a major change for the attraction, the two trains of the dual coaster will now be staggered so they do not pass within feet of one another."As we continue to study these incidents, we will operate both coasters as separate experiences without their usual intersect points, Universal Spokesman Tom Schroder said in a written statement.Thursday's incident came just more than two weeks after another rider said he was injured on the same section of the ride. Carlos Montalvo said something struck him as the coaster he was riding passed the other coaster. Montavlo said the injury blinded his right eye.Schroder said Universal Orlando officials believe "the ride itself did not play a role in these incidents.""The safety of our guests is our highest priority and we are taking this very seriously," Schroder said, noting that more than 50 million people have "safely experienced" the Dragon Challenge, formerly called Dueling Dragons, since it opened.Schroder said the park would not "speculate on what caused these incidents" but would continue its "long-standing policy of advising guests to safely secure personal items before riding."Wilson said he's upset that Universal didn't change the ride after the incident that injured Montalvo."If this kind of thing is happening more than once in two weeks it could be a problem of some kind and I feel I just want to make sure other people aren't getting hurt on it," he said.

You really must excuse my single-handed upkeep of this thread but...306' B&M <3B&M go giga with an amazing looking stretched and elegant-ified hyper but taller! Some rather lovely looking low-down sweeping curves too. Maybe slightly pointless next to Behemoth but I don't care :lol:Announcement:

Off-ride:

I know haters gonna hate but personally I love it. Sooo sleek :)

SUCH a good design for a hyper coaster, so much better than Behomoth's. Those shallow hills give me so much hope. A little short don't you think though? Also, I know its on the other side of the park but won't this raelly undermine the other B&M hyper coaster?

Wow some shallow hills. I bet it is still dull. Why are the park adding another rollercoaster which is virtually the same as one they already have? Werid.

Pfft, shuttup with your negativity :) In fairness, the train is different, the height is different and the layout is completely different with interesting an unique elements. I still stand by my point though that this is a confusing decision for the park to make
