EC!
oakwood is opening this thursday, they probably bought the flume in december but announced it february, they have had plenty of time to get it ready and it is nowhere near half way done. How you seen above what its meant to look like ?
Benin
Did they announce it would be open with the park? Not anywhere I can see, so yes, I do expect it to be a construction site, even if the rest of the park opens this week... 2 months since groundwork was going on as well... That's a worse construction window (if they aimed for opening) than any of Merlin's stuff... Logic dictates therefore they were not aiming for a opening day jobbie with this (especially as the Flume came from Camelot, hence a decision no doubt waited on whether or not that would've been coming along to the park)... Indeed, this is a HUGE investment for Oakwood, let them build it in their own time and judge the FINISHED product... Not the current state (with it's surprise indoor section, was not expecting that)...
EC!
oh well, fingers crossed it will look good when it is finished!

Topsyturvy15
EC what do you think of speed compared to Saw (or anyone else )
EC!
Speed is a LOT smoother then Saw. And the air time is nuts compared saw as well your thrown out of your seat for 2 seconds I think, and the roar, that sets any other roller coaster roar to shame that does but over all its a really good if a bit short ride Luke_A and Topsyturvy15
Mitchada04
I have never been to Oakwood or heard Speed's roar but nothing can beat the roar of Nemesis echoing through the valley. Would like to visit Oakwood one day though
EC!
Thats a Roar!! Its so loud its deafening, and you can hear it clearly from the car park, along with Bounce
Mitchada04
Not a bad roar (do still prefer Nemmy's but that's my personal opinion). It really takes quite a bit of speed through those elements (no pun intended). Got to love the random clicking and clanking noises Gerstlauers make when leaving the station
Coaster
Speed is a brilliant coaster and far better than Saw in my opinion. I would go as far to say that it is more intense than Nemesis.
EC!
New photos courtesy of the Oakwood Developer Diary on facebook Top of the Pirate Flume. Some Pirate themeing The foundations being laid out of the new family coaster which will mean the will be five coasters: Speed, Megafobia, Treetops, Clown coaster and this new one! TPJames
How many drops will the pirate flume have? I was watching the IX indoor amusement park video today and they have a new log flume which has two drops. I thought it was very clever because they hold the log at the very top(for the big drop) until the other car on the smaller drop is about to go down and they both go down synchronised making you soaked! Saying that, the drops were pretty close together but if the pirate flume was like that it would be cool if they could make it timed so you could get more wet! It looks cooler aswell
Matt 236
This is already looking an exciting Project for Oakwood. According to RCDB, the coaster will be Camelot's former junior Dragon coaster.
EC!
its only 1 TPjames and matt I think your right if you look at the foundations laid out.

Those log flume aren't synchronised to drop at same time, that was a coincidence. It was the blocking system stopping the boats from getting too close to the one in front. It's standard and happens a lot on Fabbri / Reverchon models like the one at IX. Often happens on Brighton Pier's Flume which is the same type. Other manufacturers of log flumes will do this too if boats get to close, but this rarely happens. In Merlin theme parks I have only seen it stop boats on The flume as they often get too close

Matt 236
Looking what's going so far, it looks an amazing project and that theming should hopefully turn a collection of average 2nd hand rides in to something exciting.
