Posted April 7, 201015 yr comment_88855 I would love to hear your experiences of Black Hole at Alton Towers and why you think it went.
April 7, 201015 yr comment_88856 An absolutely amazing ride that was a fantastic experience. Meant that X Sector was a definite visit every trip, and in general a fantastic family coaster for the park.I think I know why it went, down to evacuation safety laws changing , meaning a relatively large cost would have been needed to make them up to today's standards, a cost that sadly, Alton weren't willing to pay even if I think they should

April 8, 201015 yr comment_88939 This was a really great ride, all of my family enjoyed it. I remember queuing up many a time and being so excited because it felt so fast in the dark! A truly sad loss, especially as no ride has replaced it so X-Sector is rather bare. 4/5.
April 9, 201015 yr comment_89005 I also heard a rumor that the sound track was very similar to Space Mountain's.It never had any onboard soundtrack as Space Mountain does (sometimes), if that's what you mean!
April 19, 201015 yr comment_89978 If anyone would like to see the Black Hole as it is now. It's been refurbished by Gerstlauer and is looking nice and new and shiny http://www.coastersandmore.de/previews/belantis/belantis.shtml
April 19, 201015 yr comment_89982 I miss it... Really do... Seeing that image makes me slightly sad inside even though the coaster was nowhere near special to me...Maybe because it was ditched because they didn't want to spend the extra money on it and you still see the remains of it sitting there after several years...
April 19, 201015 yr comment_89985 I still am of the opinion that it would have been worth the little extra investment to keep it in operating condition.
August 22, 201015 yr comment_97073 I just loved going up the spiral lift hill then that awsome sudden drop got my stomach every time simply because you didnt quite know when it was coming unlike oblivion!
June 8, 201114 yr comment_117454 Another great sounding ride that had closed by the time of my first trip to Alton Towers.
June 11, 201114 yr comment_117572 I remember as a kid being so much more intimidated by the Black Hole compared to The Beast, which was basically the same ride but not in a tent. Amazing what a difference it makes to a ride by putting it in the dark, feels a lot faster and more disorientating. Was sad to see it go, but probably the right decision if they would have had to throw that much money at it to get it up to spec. As long as they spend that money saved on something special and new in there instead. Oh.
April 12, 201213 yr comment_136199 When the ride which the tent housed left the park in 2005, the tents days was numbered and on the 12th April 2012, after 24 years at Alton Towers, The big blue tent (which was originally green and yellow!) has finally started to be taken down. R.I.P Black hole tent, X-sector is about to be changed forever! March 1988 - April 2012 Credits to TowersTimes for the photos
April 12, 201213 yr comment_136211 Loved black hole. The space looks really small to fit a larger scale coaster!
May 22, 201411 yr comment_183855 Blimey, that view has changed a lot since 2012! Did anyone experience the Black Hole? If so, what was it like?
May 23, 201411 yr comment_183862 Brilliant ride - The Beast was great but virtually the same in the dark was a different dimension. The walkway into it was themed and had one of those illusion-turning tunnels. Up the lift hill to be warned by the illuminated Alien to "Hold tight!" then away into the darkness belting round the two astronauts connected by a single strobe-like flashing rope . Loved it.
May 23, 201411 yr comment_183866 Blimey, that view has changed a lot since 2012! Did anyone experience the Black Hole? If so, what was it like? You can still experience it if you pop over to Sweden... http://rcdb.com/9602.htm Just shut your eyes and it'll practically be the same experience...
May 23, 201411 yr comment_183886 Loved Black Hole, much more enjoyable than the heap of ****e Smiler. 5/5
