Mark9
Wow, that was actually a good episode and a very good cliffhanger there to! I'm amazed, my mind just can't see where this is heading and what's going on. And how does this connect to the regenerating girl in episode 2.... can't wait. Sheepie
So it's the last episode of Doctor Who this week before the summer break. So much has happened this series already and I'm sure the summer is going to be an agonising wait.A Prequel to A Good Man Goes To War has been released by the BBC. Mild Spoilers here, so watch with caution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiB3SdlQ6sIAnd also a trailer for the episode below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vna3NcIZS3wSFX has rated the episode as "a true 5 star episode", you can catch their teasers for it here. Can't wait to find out who River really is! noob230
Can't wait to find out who River really is!I am sooo sure that, when she says "I was in Prison because I killed a man" she was the one in the space suit that shoots him in the future... Sheepie
I've just watched the mid-season finale. I think I've fallen in love with Moff even more. I spent the last hour on the edge of my seat and in tears at many points. What a fantastically moving, dramatic and action filled episode.Sadly I accidentally had the River twist spoiled a couple of days ago but it was still awesome. I'm going to have to go back and watch several episodes again including this one to take it all in again.I'm listening to the series 5 soundtrack now. It's just so moving and it's sounds sad but I'm in tears now because it's all so exciting. HA.

I'm going to go back to Silence in the Library because A Good Man goes to War has changed the way I view River Song. Moffatt, seems to be the master of surprises and you really have to keep watching or you'll miss the smallest hint of whats happening. Deleted Users
Ah that was good. Makes up for that pretty terrible pirate one.Mikey, do you know what the music playing was called when River was talking to Rory (in Centurion clothes) about not being able to go and help the doctor? Mark9
Am I the only who saw that ending coming right from the start of the series? No you weren't but the thing is, there were so many fan theories flying around that I chose to ignore them all and let the series do the talking. One theory was Rory is Amy's baby. I don't really know how that would have worked out to be honest.
Sheepie
I keep thinking back to many of the one liners from River now. "My old man isn't watching is he?" Referring to Rory. Just made me giggle. And I have a theory that the man who she killed- the best man she ever knew.... is Rory. I think the fact that he keeps dying is deliberate and there's more to it rather than just being lazy writing.Oh and Dan, I can't remember off the top of my head but I'm gong to watch it again later and look through series 5 soundtrack. There's a possibility that it's a newly composed piece for the episode. However, what Murray Gold does so well is create music that has little hints and snippets of previous tracks so there may be a hint of familiarity to it.For instance, much of the soundtrack for the Christmas episode contained the same motif of "When you're alone... silence is all you'll see". (can't remember the name). But because they were arranged slightly differently, it may not have been totally obvious, but subconsciously the information would have been absorbed. Another more obvious example is when The 11th Doctor's theme is worked in and around new tracks to give it that extra flare. He's genius. :)Edit: I've just been looking back over the last 7 episodes. I think they've been beautifully paced. I've enjoyed every single one of them in their own way. Even the Curse of the Black Spot and The Rebel Flesh. In 7 episodes that consisted of several twists, cliffhangers and high tension drama, these episodes created the necessary breathing space for the audience and for the arch to develop. My least favourite was probably the Rebel Flesh, but even that story worked because it was sandwiched between the fantastic Doctor's Wife and the incredible twist at the end of the Almost People. The audience needs time and space to breathe. If we'd have had 7 episodes of Impossible Astronaut/ Day of the Moon and Doctor's Wife/A Good Man...well, I'd be exhausted! JoshC.
Am I the only who saw that ending coming right from the start of the series? I had the thought flying in my head for a while now, but thought it was too farfetched.. Also, I don't really get why she's now so important to the Doctor, it just seems a bit 'why'? I thought the episode was a bit long winded and just basically 'here's a twist, here's another, blah blah blah, another twist, cliffhanger'. I haven't really been impressed with the series to be honest...

stretchy
When a man and a woman love each other very much...Kevvy. Just go and watch the episodes. There's a couple of really good one's in this season, but as Benin says, it is very timey wimey at times but you really need to watch them in sequence otherwise things don't quite make as much sense.BTW loved the spoiler Benin

Benin
Well, wasn't Hitler the most POINTLESS thing ever...I'm sorry, but this series has really unimpressed me... Too much blabber and action with very little of traditional Who based times... It's that child who just keeps fidgeting the entire time in class because it just can't settle... ANNNNND that was the most mis-leading title ever... Hitler got put in a cupboard and was never seen again... No wonder we won the war...P.S. The trailer involves Rory mentioning he's died again... JoshC.
It was a bit naff really.I mean the ending was stupid (spoiler of the ending now..) What was the point of having the climax ending of the episode of the Doctor about to die, when we know he dies at a different point? I mean, come on, we were told IN THE EPISODE his date was fixed! The end is so predictable, it was just silly. I hope this series starts to pick up, otherwise it's going to lose my viewing...
Mark9
Doctor Who and the never quite dying characters. Could do a shot game on Moffatts series couldn't you, but you'd be plastered before the end of The Eleventh Hour.

Mark9
God Torchwood, seriously, what kind of crap are they pulling with this series now. Miracle Day feels like never ending death, going on and on and on and on. Characters who stood out at the beginning get categoried 1 in more recent episodes after 30 seconds of screentime, the most interesting characters get sidelined for some more boring backstory which just cheapens the story. It's such a shame when you think of the potential of the concept. People don't die. But instead of looking at how this effects the story we are just told that banks are falling. The last episode, we get REPUBLIC OF IRELAND AND GREECE have collapsed. That may have worked in the Sontaran Strategm or Journeys End but not in a serious, gritty drama like what Torchwood is aiming to be. Don't just tell us, SHOW US how this is affecting people. The story is set in America and Wales, have those countries economy collapsing. Then we may care about the situation because useless backstory is irrelevant. After Children of Earth two years ago, it felt like Torchwood had gone from softcore porn to a genuinely fantastic series. Despite being a sideline from Doctor Who, COE had surpassed anything Doctor Who could do. Now, despite Doctor Who not being my particular flavour of Who goodness, I'll still watch it on broadcast or as close to broadcast as possible. Miracle Day, no, I leave it to the last minute or whenever I can fit it in because its such a never-ending drag of pompous rubbish. And the reason I still watch it... I wish I knew.
