September 13, 201113 yr comment_123222 Great pictures, made me realise how great the view of The Swarm will be from on the Storm surge lift!Anybody think the garden behind stealth is starting to look abit.. mazelike?EDIT: is that photo from storm surge or detonator? just realised the station doesn't look in line to be storm surge haha, either way, still a great view.It was taken from Storm Surge but Ive trimmed the picture so you can't see the lifthill

September 14, 201113 yr comment_123228 Just thinking ahead to closed season were can we take pic from as dont think you will see much from monks walkFrom the links on The Swarm's site, looks like we could be getting a development diary Lets just hope they keep it up!
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123229 Yeah, correct me if I'm wrong they had a diary for stealth. Still available from http://stealth.Thorpepark.com Quite nice of them to do it though, I mean not everyone wants to follow the construction of a rollercoaster.
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123239 The Stealth one was updated way more frequently than the Project Dylan one was though, so I hope they do actually keep the updates fairly regular. I think this will be as good as impossible to follow from outside the park.
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123254 Taken today from the exit side of Stealth. No sign of supports going up yet, but cement lorry back on site, as footer work continues.Sorry, not sure how to make it smaller after clicking on the thumbnail. Comes out big on full screen. Edited September 14, 201113 yr by Whiteknuckle
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123270 Cheers for the picture Whiteknuckle.Cement lorry back? Ah well from what I saw yesterday there wasn't much left to pour. Fingers crossed that they push on with circuit construction after the weekend....
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123272 Well, looking at the picture we can see how the full floor-plan of the station foundation has now taken shape, and the wooden structural moulds have been removed, so it seems the only reason the cement mixer is back on site would be because of the remaining footers. After that, the station will need just a little more structural integrity before they start bolting tonnes of metal to it, but track construction should commence soon. I figure Monday.
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123276 ^I've *heard* rumours that supports and possibly track should start going up over the weekend.
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123277 Well then, that doesn't give us much time! We must PREPARE A FEAST. A grand feast! Someone will need to do the guest list, someone the food, someone the decorations, the bouquet, the laying of the grand gingham blanket so we don't get muddy feet... Oh! And someone will need to keep the trolls away.
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123278 Shotgun troll bashing! *sharpens stick*It would be very kind of Thorpe to start supports or track around the weekend or Monday, give me something interesting to look at next Wednesday
September 14, 201113 yr comment_123294 ^I've *heard* rumours that supports and possibly track should start going up over the weekend. We also heard rumours that it would start today :PDave
September 15, 201113 yr comment_123304 Is it not going up at the weekend, I heard there were some footers sill to be filled?
September 16, 201113 yr comment_123350 well looking at the site there is a chance of a support maybe going down.. who knows.. just have to wait and see :-)
September 17, 201113 yr comment_123438 I'm sure I saw a crane today, well on a lorry, maybe wrong. I noticed some stealth staff were trying to stop people takin pictures from stealths platform, well oviously it's a platform.Any more info
September 17, 201113 yr comment_123440 Wasn't anything of great interest that I saw today, just the general, not-that-interesting work.

September 17, 201113 yr comment_123442 Yeah most probably was, how are you guys there quite alot? Annual pass? I never find time to go
September 18, 201113 yr comment_123490 I was on Park today and took a whole bunch of construction photos which can be seen over at Total Thorpe Park.Essentially the site still looks very rough, and with so many footers still yet to be filled I'm not sure how quickly we'll see construction go vertical. The whole project seems to be progressing rather slowly - if we compare The Swarm to Stealth, by this time in 2006 construction was at a noticeably more advanced stage. Comparisons aren't completely fair though because Stealth wasn't being built on reclaimed land, and had a track layout significantly more basic than The Swarm's!Anyway, although there were no huge developments seen during my visit today, I did manage to get a nice clear shot of The Swarm's track from the top of Storm Surge... Oh, and the tank and entrance advert get a big thumbs up from me!
September 18, 201113 yr comment_123493 Gonna throw it out there, but the track and supports seem to be identicle in colour?
September 18, 201113 yr comment_123494 Gonna throw it out there, but the track and supports seem to be identicle in colour? That's what I was thinking
September 18, 201113 yr comment_123496 That's what I was thinking Well that's not great, well, although it could look good. Were they main supports? (on phone and webpages take years)
September 18, 201113 yr comment_123497 Saw, Thirteen, Raptor, Krake and now The Swarm. I love Merlin's imagination when it comes to colour schemes. Doesn't affect the actual ride, but aesthetically speaking, it's a bit of a bummer.
September 19, 201113 yr comment_123501 Swarm is grey, not black for one thing...And why does the track and supports having the same colour matter? Do we want a Silver Bullet look to it?Big coasters often work better as big and evil contraptions, depending on the theme of the ride of course... So why a dark colour shouldn't be chosen when this is the apocalypse, I don't know...Also, I find that darker coasters work well in photos very well, regardless of weather... And really, the colour will affect the ride in absaolutely no way... Here's something I'm gonna throw out here after riding Raptor which will probs be contraversial to a few people... Swarm will probs be the best ride at Thorpe, but it won't be the most intense due to the very nature of the ride...And if you are of considerable girth, forget it...
