I was going to 'like' your post, then you just ruined it at the end.
  2. I bet they said that when they were painting Thunder River green ;-)
  3. The fact everyone is saying 'you have to be there and see it in person' makes me think there must be something not coming through on any of the photos - It looks horrendous. Just because this is a Thorpe dominated website, does not mean you have to like it. What's with everyone settling for this type of ultimate 'meh' you would expect from a seaside fun fair, or a low grade park like Drayton. It's lazy. The patch work tar mac floor at the dodgems .. The rubbish image around the dodgems roof (the 3D themeing ideas would be endless).. The un-thematically painted walls (even chessington can do that), DETONATOR?!!! ...The fact all the signage looks fresh off the printers at Instant Print... Ugh it's dreadful! The land arches are great (because they're not flat or from the local printers) , and sure the 4D film is fun (which Merlin did not provide), but this is just awful and makes Storm Surge look like Splash Mountain.

Ouch! That wall once looked great.. Now it's been slapped with one Rumba Rapids colour! Eww...

It's all a bit clumsy and difficult to navigate. Hate to admit, it frustrated me a bit, but hey ho.. looks nice and clean..
  6. We haven't seen any plans yet. That island is probably the location for any next big development. We just have to wait and see.

They just need to give the ride some attention. Having the fountains off (and open to the public) was just shocking. There is no excuse for such a BAD, BAD show-and I bet they know how crap it was too. However, the ride is well under the eye, and up for an 'upgrade' - when this happens is another thing. I know that it has been close to happening, but as always with Chessington, it never quite gets done. My only concern is that if the powers that have no idea, put Tomb up for an upgrade before this....

They could of chucked all that rubbish into the ride area and called it theming. We all know Merlin love a good run down bit of theming.

It's something that all the Wing Riders have. I was pretty sore after a day on Raptor!
  10. Fingers crossed that they are not just for the land 'signs', and they're going to be scattered around the whole area.

If you mean a higher cycle, then yup, it seems at the moment Swing A is doing that. As already mentioned S&S have been in to have a look, so I'm sure they're addressing it. Cycle length however, the ride op has no control. It can be changed before park opening by the engineers.

I would expect that it would be the set up of the rope on Swing B that needs to be adjusted. On a side note, the restraints are looking a bit grubby!
  13. TraX replied to Perks's topic in General Discussion
S&S have been in have a play with it. Hopefully trying to get it to swing that bit higher as it should be. (They can't speed up slow platform staff though..)

Like juming on 'The Edge' wasn't taking inspiration enough? Go Paulton's, Britan's most original adventure!

Yes, there was also a baggage room on the original plans too. If anything like the ride photos that were added to RR at Chessington a few years back, I wouldn't have been a fan. No one wants a load of strangers in their photo. If Picsolve added editable pics like at Busch or Seaworld, that would be different.

Those shoulder restraints don't do anything with the ride operations. They don't even show up on the operator console like the lap bars.
  17. I think there have been enough wooden coasters, pushing what the GP think of in regards to what wooden coasters once were.. It's all good stuff and again, Thorpe will be watching all these advances in wood.
  18. Every single season we get this. It's always so hit and miss, I hope they have finally managed to keep it running-for good. It's such a vital part to the ride.
  19. Merlin seem to enjoy 'starbucking' all their 'Resorts', ensuring they all feel the same. Whilst I enjoy Heide Park and Gardaland, they do feel the 'same', as already discussed even marketing is copied over.
  20. TraX replied to Marc's topic in UK Attractions
Both were on all year last, and was looked after by the entertainment people
  21. I just can't ever see them going back to it. Whilst I think that it would be great to ride a train across from Loggers to perhaps Treasure Island - if the new coaster does end up there. I just can't see them laying new track or anything else to do with it. Knowing Merlin, they'll sell the trains to make a bit of spare cash to put towards what they need for the backstage tour stuff..
  22. The advert shows you really what the park want to be, and the Falls / Scorpian stuff, kinda shows that they're embarassed about the fact that Falls looks like a tip, and scorpian is a half arsed Merlin re-theme. It's pretty shocking they can show things like that. At least Thorpe's is at Thorpe and in the last year or so.
  23. Looks like they used Gardaland's Mammut for the shoot, rocks and all..
  24. H&S I expect. If that is dangerous, then the walk down across the valley is a death trap. Although I assume they consider the traffic flow down there not as high as this pathway. The Nemesis queueline steps are pretty uneven too..
