The Smiler
Is it really that simple though? When had she previously ridden the ride? Could be that previous rides had taken place prior to last year's crash and since safety levels were heightened... Also "I've been on it before" is the OLDEST excuse in the book when a person (or more normally, their kid) is denied access to a ride... What level of cast did the other ride have? Might be that they still had control of their hands and had at least some degree of movement... Imagine if she had needed to evacuate the ride? Towers were pretty much in a damned of they do, damned if they don't situation... One perspective in a paper (especially given the storm around Towers) does not give the full story...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
I know, Kong looks amazing doesn't it and yet we know nothing of the actual show part...

The Smiler
Depends on the actual event doesn't it? Since part of the evac might require the use of a ladder (lift 2), and general H&S consensus is that 3 points of contact is the safest thing, she is actually unable to evacuate safely... It's very easy for people to exaggerate how staff treat them when they don't get their way... Just jumping on the bash Towers bandwagon, perhaps more an issue with the staff directly rather than a park problem...

Shanghai Disneyland
Probably part of a future phase tbh... Also, I've seen a few snippets of the Pirates ride, and omg, I cannot wait for a HQ POV to appear... Almost tempting to go tbh...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Trying to think if the old Alien Encounter at WDW had a height restriction... Or what Dinosaur's one is, that is TERRIFYING...

Park Operations
I've heard of the stories of PA, though when I visited (with unlimited Fastrack via the hotel), there was mostly just me and mark9 in the queues... Similarly at Parque d'Attractiones where it was €30 for unlimited stuff, few people used it... Spaniards probably don't bother since they jump the queues for free anyway...

Universal Studios Florida
Late Summer? August is late in Summer... Lol at the onboard soundtrack by Fallout Boy frontman, just amuses me...

Park Operations
It improves things for those willing to pay, for everyone else, it's not great when it's in massive quantities which is where the UK parks fall down the most... I think it's a cultural thing too, in Spain and Germany it's very rare to see lots of people using it, and its even cheaper than ours...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Do wonder if people under a NDA actually understand it's meaning... Seems not if people on here are getting info from staff under one...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
It's a shame we'll only ever see it lit up for 2 weeks every season (or until the bulb breaks, lol maintenance at Merlin)... As for ride signs, its neither amazing or poor... Ride signs are pretty much an afterthought in the process of design, and this really is no exception to it... Putting a light behind it does not make it unique or special in any meaningful way...

Shanghai Disneyland
Aside from it having nothing to do with Space Mountain? I think it looks fab, and for anyone interested it's cheaper to go to Shanghai for a week than stay at Paris (on-site)... I'm more eager for a PotC POV though...

Walibi Belgium
My initial assessment of meh got upgraded to, "oh that's quite cool actually"... I still see it as rather weird, but I'm sure smaller parks will lap this ride up... And given Walibi Belgium's issues with locals it's probably the best they can do...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
£10 million on the marketing, £10m on the VR and the rest to Derren? The ride is actually made by kids at the local school... Community help and all that...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
That won't stop people from waiting outside expectantly... Seriously, someone just mingle around the entrance tomorrow and watch a queue form behind you..

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
I saw some AR stuff used at a show recently, the only hope is that the quality of the fake stuff is actually good... Like, the purposes for the thing I saw weren't entertainment based, but it was very unreliable/unresponsive... For a mass thing, Thorpe need to have brought the a game in maintenance stuff... Anything less won't do...

Paultons Park
Because they're greedy and having two days worth of media stuff 10 days prior to opening... The POVs look standard... Pterosaur looks very fab with the rockwork and stuff...

Paultons Park
Media day is today, so expect a fair amount of pics to come through... On the Twitters, it's really looking great...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
I do hate this obsession with filters, it's very simple to get great pics without resorting to them...

The 2016 Thread
Problem is that it's very unsubtle marketing... Merlin parks are the only parks who seem to constantly remind you that Fastrack exists on a regular basis... Whereas some parks who offer it kinda just go "it exists, but we won't force it down your throats"... Those tend to be the parks where you see about 2 people using it though...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Carriage not suspended in midair? Sorry, worst ride ever, 0/10, would not visit again...
-
Universal Studios Florida
Forbidden Journey is the only thing I can think of that would be stuck upside down... Which is plausible given the range of motion by the KUKA arms... At the same time though, could be rubbish... 2 years ago this happened? You'd probably get suing quicker than that...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
So ORPs as green screen? Maybe even have you do something like Defi de Cesar in Asterix? Sounds a bit pointless if the photo is a head in a jar...

The Big Bad Movie Topic
Surprised no one has raved about Civil War yet... The second half of it is the best stuff Marvel have ever done... The entire airport sequence is a delight, and then the final fight is astoundingly brutal and tense... Great job of introducing Black Panther and new Spidey, which makes the hype for both their films increase... Also Ant Man The first half is slow, but it does the job in setting up the story and the various sides put in pace... That every character gets their chance says a lot about how well written the story is and how they've balanced it... Marvel keep marching on... Infinity War with the Russos behind it should be even better (especially if we get another Community alumni cameo)...

Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of the Demon
Sounds more like trying to fit in too much new technology which hasn't really been fully tested on such a scale... Paying the price through this as a result...
