  1. Can't stand it when people abuse their power. Rant!!
  2. And should this mean that season pass holders and people who turn up on the day (even those who aren't interested in the Vamps) are excluded? Personally I wouldn't care less if there was a band there, I'd just want to go on the ride!
  3. Just seen - £15! That's very steep. In my opinion an season pass should be a season pass, and there should be no restriction dates at all as it's not on. Also, I think they are shooting themselves in the foot by not offering tickets on the day. Is a flat ride that's already been open for soft openings really going to make tickets sell out?
  4. Wait what? Are they not letting season pass holders in? And I heard this from a Facebook page so don't take it as 100% fact.
  5. Word is that Air Race is open but not officially. Soft opening FTW!
  6. Yes, but there's a difference between it lowering it by 50pph (what it should be) and 50% per hour.
  7. That's appalling! I highly disagree with the concept of slowing the main queue for the fastrack queue, I would say it's the thing I hate most about merlin!I forgot to mention that last week on Slammer, I saw a group of six get told to move out of THEIR space in the queue and go back behind the rope in favour of fastrackers. I'm sorry, but they were there first and I would have gone to guest services had that happened to me! Rant over.
  8. I see that their operations in terms of fastrack haven't changed since Fright Nights then, despite them promising that they would look into overselling etc to ensure that they didn't end up having to slow down the main queue by ridiculous amounts.
  9. I had been meaning to comment on something for ages now. One thing I absoloutely can't stand is when they block off the back row for fastrack/exit passes! This not only reduces the throughput for the main queue drastically, but also means that you can only get (IMO) the best seats if you pay more. Very poor indeed!
  10. I can't understand why they paint the track red, as it would look so much less of an eyesore if it was brown.
  11. That would be much better. One thing is for sure which is that it is in dire need of a refurbishment, they have the hardware (for example the waterfall inside the tunnel) but they are hiding it away in darkness which is, in my opinion madness!
  12. I really like the idea, but I feel that it could have been executed so much better without a huge stretch on the budget. For example, a generic themed path and fence going through a shark? Surely the one in the concept art would have been better? Also, the concept art promised that we would have a cross between Stealth and Formula Rossa behind it (Yes I am joking).
  13. I remember seeing a video of one of them years ago, I really want to ride one!
  14. Haha, after the quality of Angry Birds Land I don't think the BBC would go anywhere near Thorpe!
  15. Sunday 8th June 2014 RIDES CLOSED: Quantum The day got off to a bad start when, despite the fact that the day before visiting I had recieved confirmation from Thorpe that Annual Passholders would be let in early, this did not happen due to a Triathlon inside the park! I'm sorry, but events like these should not get priority over paying customers/passholders visiting the park. Also, I had been told (not by Thorpe) that the entrance music was back but there was no music playing, and then at the end of the day it was the chavy music playing parkwide (including the entrance). The park was very busy, but queues for the rides weren't as huge as I was expecting considering that the cars were out on the grass when I looked from the top of Swarm. The plan was to go to Slammer first as it had been closed for nearly a year, but it was stuck at the top and staff were stood outside the entrance. Therefore, we started off with Colossus, which was on one train (a second train was added later), then Saw and over to Inferno. I can't remember the order of the other rides so I'll get onto the ridecount. Needless to say, Slammer opened after a short bit of downtime in the morning and we had plenty of goes on it as it ran without problems all day. RIDECOUNT: Slammer x7 Colossus x3 The Swarm x2 (One backwards, still just as rubbish as I remembered it apart from the first drop). Nemesis Inferno x2 X x2 Dodgems x2 Stealth x1 Vortex x1 Rumba Rapids x1 TOTAL: 21 HIGHLIGHTS: - Getting back on Slammer! - Despite the obvious rush job they were, the Dodgems are great fun. - Colossus and Inferno were flying by the end of the day, LOWLIGHTS: - The queue on The Swarm which really should have taken about 10 minutes max took 30. The staff are so slow on that ride! - Friend wouldn't go on Tidal Wave lol! - Chart music playing in a lot of places around the park again, such as in Lost City. Angry Birds Land is also open and on the appearance side it is rubbish. The Dodgems look like they have come straight from a fair (actually, fair dodgems look better as they don't have such a hilarious half-arsed attempt at a theme), the graffiti on the buildings downgrades them and the signage is awful. However, the Dodgems are actually really fun and the staff interaction was great, announcing which side won and counting down. I did not try out the 4D cinema as I will be saving that for a rainy day. Detonator on the other hand looks ridiculous, they have taken a perfectly good looking thrill ride and made it look stupid. Either theme it to Angry Birds properly or leave it alone! Thanks for reading, comments welcome as always.
  16. No entrance music today! Also we didn't get let in early and had to join a longer queue because of a Triathlon. Not impressed!
  17. I've heard people say that Samurai is the only Topscan with restraints which creak and move, and thought it was worth mentioning that the ones on Speed Wave at Brean do the same.
  18. Looks pretty good IMO. Also, it's good to see that they have themed it to some extent.
  19. Yeah it's good, but I'm not sure why we were told "for the forseeable future" when it was just a few days. Either way, well done Thorpe!
  20. Grrr, wish I was there today! If they put it on tomorrow I will not be happy. Glad to see that Thorpe have, for the time being, realised that it was ridiculous.
  21. Haha, never thought of it that way!
  22. I thought that had always been there. I always remember hearing it.
  23. That was what hacked me off! Every coaster was on one train with queues, yet it was advertised as no queues! If they had left the second trains on (or added them once they had realised that overselling tickets for a no queue event will cause queues to form) then there wouldn't have been many queues!
  24. Agreed, plus I had to wait about an hour to get in (which took a good 45 minutes off the three hours we should have had). Why not open until 10pm with discounted tickets after a certain time?
