If you read the few posts above there is a discussion about how knackered it is and how long it will last. Since then. I know it is all speculation, but something must be quite seriously wrong the way it has been behaving so far this year. I'd be happy with I direct replacement if they could run it properly, but unless they are now manufactured more robustly I think that would be unlikely.
  2. That doesn't sound great. I wonder if that set up is deliberate though, as if access is dependent on that level of mobility are they effectively getting you to 'prove' you have that ability before riding. That, and maybe they've decided things on wheels aren't great to have on station platforms from a safety point of view? They really shouldn't be making you feel like an inconvenience though, and the signage should be better than that. Out of interest, were they happy with you having two friends/carers accompanying? It is a question I've seen asked on here many times and the answer often seems to be different!

You are probably right, just seems odd that they continue the testing immediately when guests are out the way, like there's something they'd rather not be seen.

Hmmm, seems strange to me. I'd have thought with time being of the essence once a successful run had been made they'd have been testing solidly, not leaving it idle for a day. Unless the tests have been less successful than hoped?

Cars been shunting around on the transfer track today then, and the lift hills have been powered up during the day too. Testing imminent surely. Middle of the night 'secret' pre test tonight do we think?
  6. From Theme Park Guide facebook. Lookin gooood!
  7. ... and hills. It doesn't have any natural slope to work with (I think?) in the areas they can develop so would be a it would be a big bit of work. Would certainly suit the park though, I wonder if a Safari boat ride getting up close to the animals would be possible? That coaster looks pretty damn good and would suit Chessington perfectly.
  8. And for me it would be Jimmy Carr. I should think all these people would want considerably more money than Thorpe would want to pay them though, unless they wanted to use it to try out new material for a warm up before a proper tour. I go to one of Carrs pre tour warm ups he does near me each year and it is always an excellent night. Peaj is right though, there's a hell of a lot of 'unknown' people on the circuit who will fill the bill well. A friend of mine runs a comedy club and I've seen some amazing acts there and it can be hard to understand why they aren't known (but then a few years later sometimes they are!).

A fuss? Strip you limb from limb? I don't think so. It is a discussion forum, that was a discussion. I don't agree with you, and I don't agree with you quite strongly, but that doesn't mean you, me or anyone else is right. These are mere opinions. All these things are only marketing tools really anyway. The test of the coaster is how good it is, not what aspect they try and squeeze the selling point out of.

Why does it have to be anything? It is just marketing. An indoor inversion with a strobe - disorientating. As would be completing the inversion slowly with effects around the room to make you feel like you are not, or a washing machine, or anything else you can think of. We don't know and it may be (but probably isn't) a worlds first too, but it does not have to be anything more.

Which everyone guessed looong before opening. You are also forgetting you are on here reading all this stuff. 99.9% of the population have no idea what is going on, when they see that it will be big news to them. I think the problem they have is the Japanese '4d' coaster actually inverts you 14 times already with its rotating seats and for reasons unknown Guinness have decided these count for a world record, even though that is daft. So careful, and slightly clumsy, wording has to be used.

Seriously? It is a legitimate, real and very marketable worlds first and not naff in the slightest. Colossus held its record for 10 years, dragon Khan for a similar amount of time before that. Why would it be broken so soon this time? Some examples of naff worlds firsts could be 'worlds first horror coaster' and 'worlds first psycho-coaster', both of which are things that do not exist in any measurable way. That is not to say there aren't more surprises or firsts to come from The Smiler, but the inversion record is a big thing on a great looking coaster.
  13. TIPS FOR NEW ALL MEMBERS It has been noticed by a few members and mentioned to the team that some basic standards of post quality have been slipping recently. By basics I mean the likes of spelling and grammar, along with the intrusion of little bits of text speak slipping into peoples posts. Please note our posting guidelines: So txt spk lyk u for you and 2 for to or too etc are not acceptable, sentences start with a capital letter and end with some form of punctuation and spelling can be easily checked before posting. Whatever your level of ability these are not tricky things to stick to. Of course people will make mistakes (hell, there are probably some in this very post!), and that is fine, but it is clear that at the moment some people are not even trying to follow the basic rules of English. These rules are not just there for the sake of it, they are there is to make your posts, and our forum, easy to read and understand for everyone who visits. Please help us achieve this. Thanks!
  14. And exercise doesn't have to be putting on a tracksuit and going for a run/weights/swim etc. The best exercise is just being active in your life in general, just doing things, walking places, exerting yourself. It doesn't need a timeslot and to be a chore, the amount of people who drive to a gym makes my head hurt.

Lack of so presented as a question. Facebook murmurings from people on park.

That went just after it appeared, don't think it was ever supposed to be up. The girl in the recent interview vid looks a lot like her, I'm expecting her to 'go missing' via twitter / further vids sometime soon and for that to be released after that - like she's been taken by them. Just guessing, we'll see!
  18. I went to fried chicken co for the first time a couple of weeks back and thought it was really very good. Big lumps of moist chicken, decent chips, good price and the cute server was quite flirty with me (something that doesn't happen often ever any more!). So I'd try that.
  19. Never heard of these comedians myself, but having looked him up Ricardo I recognise him... http://youtu.be/1REw3ybnFLU I'm not sure if his cleverness and subtlety will be lost on a drunken Thorpe crowd, I'd guess they would rather the sort of comedian that shouts ****, ****, **** and of course **** at them for 10 minutes instead,
  20. Hard to call but if the weather is good it can be pretty packed. If you have an insert day either side that would probably be best, other than that just avoid weekends is the best you can do.
  21. Nothing wrong with a tent of you put in a little bit of effort and disguise it though!
  22. Sucks bad. Hopefully this is a case of them thinking that while having the people on park to do Mine Train and Dragon they may as well get these bits done as well to prevent a problem a couple of years down the line.
  23. I have never been to Legoland ( ) so will try and get along to this one.
