  1. That cracked me up maybe more than it should have! Turd just needs to be removed IMO
  2. Sheepie!!! Where you been hiding?! Anyhoo back on topic, the name of the ride doesn't inspire me much (but that said there are worse names for rides). I really hope the ride is a big success for TP - I won't judge it (well apart from the name!) until I've experienced it in March. can understand why some people seem a bit 'meh' about the whole concept but we've been in desperate need of a dark ride at Thorpe since Wicked Witches Haunt. And the amount of money it has had put into it I hope it's good
  3. I got to go on it when I was 33(??!) - The ride op did look at me a bit weird cos I didn't have any kids with me - he probably thought I was not the full ticket
  4. Hi - I "think" I have one (will have to have a look - having a sort out and have put all my theme park merch in a big pile) - If I find it you can have it - free
  5. Have to say I'm gutted - it was one of Chessies original rides although it has looked awful for the past few years - I've not actually been on it since 2013 as every time I have been to CWOA since, it has been closed. Not massively surprised about the decision to close it - yeah it is old but as said before, could have lasted maybe longer if it was taken care of. I remember the first time I rode it back in 1990 - it was so shiny and yellow! Would be great if they built a new monorail with a different route - won't hold my breath however

    Anti-Rant

I would love to learn first aid and also CPR. Read a really sad story about a 6 year old that died from choking on a grape - not the first grape incident which has resulted in death sadly. I did a brief bit of first aid at college when I was studying child care which came in handy when my niece who was about 7 months old at the time started to choke whilst I was feeding her - luckily I managed to dislodge the offending food item by whipping her out of her chair and putting her across my thighs and slapping her back. Nice one Pluk for what you did - not sure I would be able to sleep after an experience like that!
  7. Would love to make this meet - hopefully see y'all there!
  8. Great topic - reminds me of when I won 4 tickets to Thorpe Park back in 1996 but couldn't go because no one wanted to go with me
  9. Your MAP and tickets were only scanned once?! Ours were scanned every time - maybe I just look dodgy or it might be due to not turning up until around 4ish. I know events are free for premium pass holders and there was a bit of an uproar about the whole £1 booking fee for FN to guarantee entry but honestly I think even if they charged everyone a small fee it is still a bargain - would rather pay a fiver to spend a few hours at a relatively quiet park than the event not even being available - can see a lot of people being displeased if SN doesn't return - but then IF they were to charge everyone to access the event that would probably go down like a lead balloon too

    Logger's Leap

True - just to add; the cost involved in restoring rides, especially rides as old as Loggers I would imagine wouldn't be cheap

    Logger's Leap

Agree with this ^^^ although we don't know exactly what is being done to Loggers - I would imagine it would be something pretty extensive to have to be closed for an entire season. The whole "family" thing is puzzling - they are changing their target market yet Carousel went last year and next year no Loggers - I guess Carousel had to make way for the new ride but could they not have plonked it somewhere else?! I miss it. When Mr Monkeys goes I am gonna lose my marbles!
  12. Brainiac Live is a fab show so a return of that would be good (when I saw it I expected it to be boring but I was pleasantly surprised) Summer Nights - Maybe they will add this to the line up at a later date, who knows. I would honestly be gutted though if it doesn't return. The first year that Summer Nights ran was significantly quieter than the past 2 years so it has obviously gained popularity. On my first Summer Nights back in 2013 I didn't have a pass and paid the full £15 and got on so many rides I felt it was good value (especially when you consider that if you went on busy day you could only buy 3 fast tracks for that price and then queue on top of that). This year I went to 9 Summer Nights in total - yes it was busier than usual but still a great event (apart from the ticketing problems on days where Island Beats was on) - it was even more value for money for people without passes as the time for Summer Nights was 4-10pm differing from previous years where it was 7-10. Made it much cheaper for people to spent time at the park - I did often wonder if anyone paid entrance price (even using BOGOF) to be at the park from 9.30/10am until 6pm when they could shave a considerably amount and just turn up at 4 - with the added bonus that the queue times were reduced in the evening. Although Summer nights were slightly busier this year (could be due to some of then tying in with Island Beats) I do wonder how much the park actually made from the events. Island Beats never looked very successful and I can't see how they could have made much profit from it (unless I'm being a doughnut which is a possibilty). But from a budget point of view, keeping rides open until 10pm means extra runnings costs aswell as staff wages etc. Pretty sure a lot of people who went to the events would have been pass holders which, if you are Premium are free - even if everyone paid the £15 I don't know how viable it would be from a profit point of view when you consider that the event has limited availability. I have a standard pass and personally had no problem paying a fiver each time because of the amount of rides I got to go on - much rather that than succumb to buying fast track! I hope SN returns but wouldn't be at all shocked if it doesn't - although I may cry a little
  13. I've been reading the news on the horrific Paris attacks and I don't even know how to put into words how I feel about these scumbags who are going out killing innocent people. They are vile, disgusting, evil, low life, cowardly - arghh it makes me so angry. What gives people the right to go out armed with guns and shoot down people - in the name of religion? They believe what they are doing is the right thing in the name of their "god" - well, I'm not a religious person but I'm pretty sure any "god" wouldn't want such atrocities. I hope they burn in hell. Jeez, I actually despair - the world we are living in today is a scary place. And it's scary that people daily are being brain washed into carrying out such atrocities. My thoughts are with the families of those tragically killed during yesterdays attacks and those who were injured - those also who witnessed everything that unfolded which must have been horrific. I can't imagine the terror that they must have endured at the hands of those extremists. It makes me sad to think that this is becoming more common place - it actually does scare me - not to the point of not going anywhere but I do wonder when the UK will be hit - surely it is only a matter of time. They have killed people of their own religion, they don't care who they target, be in old people, kids, it doesn't matter to them - they don't care and it's scary to think how these attacks are carried out - that a handful of gunmen can kill so many people - that people are willing to blow themselves up in the name of religion - it's bulls*** #prayforparis
  14. Just to flip this slightly on Sunday I witnessed a chavvy looking woman really laying into a staff member because of certain rides that are closed. I've never witnessed such rudeness before (I'm sure TP staff probably get it a lot). The staff member looked quite young and handled the situation really well but the guest wouldn't shut up - I was about to go up to the guest and tell her to wind her neck in but she started walking away while the poor girl was still explaining why Stealth was shut. She pretty much blamed this one staff member for certain rides being closed.

    Logger's Leap

I did Slammer twice and Loggers twice on Sunday in case they are unavailable next year. X I'm not bothered about tbh so I didn't ride it. lots of rumours flying around about Loggers and it will be sad if it's not open next year but if it needs work doing on it then so be it (it is very old now!) - I personally never bother with Tidal Wave during the summer as it gets me too wet whereas Loggers gets me nice and refreshed wet (though it tastes nasty!). The other water rides bar Tidal Wave are pointless going on if your intention is to get wet - would be good if they did something to Rumba so you actually do get wet rather than the odd bit of splash if your lucky

    Cats or Dogs?

Always used to be more of a dog person and I still adore them (my sister has a gorgeous black lab rescue dog who is adorable). When I got my cat I never realised you could have such a strong bond with an animal - always thought cats were not really in tune with people's feelings etc but I was so wrong. My cat helped me through so much - he died last year aged just 4 but I still think about him every day. I am currently fostering 2 cats and hoping to adopt within the next few weeks as they are adorable and so affectionate. Cats are very intelligent - my cat always knew when I was feeling low and knew how to cheer me up. This next bit might sound a bit morbid but when my mum was nearing the end of her battle with cancer, for the last 2 days her cat would only leave her bed to quickly get some food or do his business - in fact he was curled up next to her and my mum had her right hand on him when she passed away and he moved off of the bed about 20 minutes after- less than 3 months after my mum died, we had to put mums cat to sleep - he was a good age of 21 but was never the same after and developed serious health complications. So for me, cats but dogs are awesome too - so is McDonalds to be honest!
  17. I remember years ago telling my sister that she should go on Peeking Heights as she had technically already been on it when it was Eclipse at TP. She didn't believe me so when we got nearer to riding I went up to the host and asked if it was the Ferris wheel from Thorpe Park and she turned around and said no. I felt like a wally even though I knew it was from Thorpe and had to prove it to my sister with assistance from Google

It's so disappointing when you get a naff cycle on Samurai - swear my last go lasted about 30 seconds!

    Slammer

Ahhh gutted it is now closed for the rest of the season but glad I got to ride it last week - really hope that it reopens next year (probably needs maintenance or parts = more money spent on it) It took me a looong time before I got the guts to ride Slammer - it is one of those rides that looks extremely intimidating when you watch it but actually great fun to ride. Yeah it can give you a bit of a head rush but I prefer a head rush than feeling like I'm going to blow chunks It is one of my favourite flat rides (not just at TP but in general) because of its uniqueness and the fact that it is the only one of its kind it would be fab if it was kept. If it doesn't reopen next season I will be a wee bit gutted and also as has been mentioned before, rides that are SBNO don't look good - I remember when Rodeo at CWOA was SBNO and I felt sad for it (yeah I'm odd) - although not sure why because I hated Rodeo with a vengeance
  20. I've always loved the smell in Saw:Alive - piss and meat you say? Well that is just pretty rancid and doesn't say much for my sense of smell. I always thought it smelt like bacon
  21. Glad it's back open - I do like Vortex event though it is probably the ride that makes me feel the most nauseous
  22. Threatening to punch an actor? Jeez - I think even a threat should be a case for removing a guest tbh. When I was there on Wednesday there were some roaming actors as we were queuing for BWP - a guest was sitting down and from what I could see (and from my own experiences) she was having a panic attack - one of the actors comforted her until paramedics arrived

    Random

Love it! I'm really awful at dealing with people like that. Like those damn chuggers - I do my best to avoid them, from pretending to be on the phone, to not making direct eye contact but no, they don't care if you are in the middle of a conversation and just lob themselves in front of you. Worst time was when I got stopped by 3 of the buggers on the same street - by that point I was ready to pull some kung fu moves (if I had any)

    Samurai

Shall we take bets? - I'll give it a week tops
  25. Um, there's a couple of pumpkins by Bush BBQ - this was on Weds though - they may have added other stuff What does everyone think of the ride audio? I miss The Director - especially on Stealth, although funnily enough with the new audio, Stealth is the one I actually don't mind. On Inferno you can barely hear what is being said - the person doing the voice just sounds a bit....angry/borderline pervy, I dunno. Going by todays reports it sounds like things are improving with FN - hopefully they will continue to do so in the coming days
