I find Aramark being an odd scapegoat for enthusiast this year because they have a contract with UK government services. Just a lot of moaning when we all know theme park food should be seen as a treat rather than an essential item every weekend you visit. On the cost for freestyle, I don't see people complaining about the $20 fee for the cups in America, so £9 still seems fine for a treat and an unlimeted one at that. Especially when at FiveGuys a cup is £3.40 and can't be refilled. Luckily Merlin allow you to also bring lunch, so nothing stopping you bringing a Greggs or meal deal from Tesco, overall food costs are rising and themepark food should be seen as a treat. Merlin outsourced food as its really expensive to run and hard to get right, so why not put the contract up to an outside bidder and get guaranteed money to build the secrete weapon.

Wouldn't it be funny if Merlin ID'ed the person behind the account a gave them a lifetime ban, now that would be fun. They could just say they don't want their custom or provides a threat to other customers....

The merch design this year is horribly camp.....

Why does John Burton get so much credit / praise for everything. Yes he has creative direction but surely he's spread over so many projects at this point that there's teams of great people doing all the work but not getting any credit? Is he the next John Wardley, seems like he's trying to fill those boots?

Does anyone feel sorry for the construction workers working on the project, must be annoying having voyeurs walking around trying to get the latest updates.......

I love how the park are running a competition to be the first rider, however I highly doubt the winner will be the first, I'd bet all the enthusiast press days will be first and Silkstone will already have ridden 100 times

I would expect so, the old finance director didn't see rollercoasters such as Wickerman as a bad investment. Now all the old thinking is gone it seems as if its only a positive way going forward.

That's the issue, it seems like we have gone from sponsored and fun stunt show esk events to enhance the visitors day into events for the sake of having a full time ents team dance around the park and sell as much branded merchandise as possible. Also why do we keep taking away from Fright nights, lets keep that as one event in October, last thing I want is summer and scares. Thorpe has got really boring recently.

But it gives the actors a chance not to do something cringe and boring in the summer and helps the eComm team to hit basket value and upsell targets.

Events bar say the October Halloween run are just another reason to sell more merch / food, guess you can't complain though as technically they are free and add more to do to the park.

Perhaps leaning more towards the &Roamers part.... Would be interesting to know how these awards are decided though is it based on voting or a panel.

Also just want to say thank you to the teams of meets past. The days whereby you could get tours of rollercoasters and ERT sessions for the big old price of £0! some great memories
