In my opinion Asylum was the best maze last year (although I only managed to do CITW once). I love it because of all the disorientating lights and sirens. I feel that the actors use this to their advantage very well and it scared me a lot. I think that all they need to do is rename it and it will be fine. Also I understand that Thorpe are going for a more family orientated park as of recent and I think that, for fright nights this year, they should have a mildly scary feel around the park, for the families, but they should make the mazes as scary as possible so It doesn't disappoint everyone else. Tbh, as long as the mazes are made as scary as possible, and they have a more immersive park feel, I wont be too bothered.

It has got to that time of year again!

    Same as ever:
    +1 and -1 each turn
you must wait three turns or 24hrs before your next go, whichever is the sooner
ride removed on 0 and all others reset to 5
List is the rides that are advertised on the Thorpe Park Website to avoid over lengthy un-fun voting

Will be interesting this year to see how the new attractions in Angry Birds Land, match up to the existing attractions and where Chief Rangers Carousel will be placed in it's last season!
Will Slammer keep it's title from 2013 as the best ride at Thorpe Park?

To start us off I will be doing:

    +1 Angry Birds 4D Experience
-1 Storm In A Teacup (These cups seriously need Greasing!)

So I went to alton towers in the summer and never really got round to do a trip report and my opinion on the park until now. So here it is :-)
As we only had one day at the park we decided to go for the whole day, 10-6. We managed to do all of the main rides including a couple of rerides which was good. The park as a whole was much better than Thorpe, with a much nicer atmosphere.
    Oblivion
We started the day with oblivion because the smiler had not opened yet and it was right next door. Oblivion was a short yet fantastic experience and is definitely in my top 20 coasters. Maybe it isn't as effective if you have ridden it many times, but as a first time rider I really enjoyed it and was generally scared at the top. I would give oblivion a solid 7/10
    The Smiler
I wasn't expecting that much from this ride, just a relatively thrilling experience that wouldn't really compare too much to oblivion. All I can say is that I completely underestimated how good this ride would be. It looks great, the queue is great and it was definitely my favourite ride of the day. I love the way that it is so long, and the way you kind of stop at the top of every inversion. All in all an amazing ride that had me disoriented and dizzy by the end of it. 11/10
    Air
I had never ridden a rollercoaster like this before so I was super excited to try this one out. And just as I imagined, it was great fun. Its one of those rides that you can do over and over again, and still find it really fun. Just as expected, a really fun coaster. 7/10
    Nemesis
OK, so if now is the time for quite a large portion of controversy. I knew this ride would be good, and don't get me wrong, it was good and I did enjoy it. But, I really don't think it was as good as everyone says it is. It was fast, exhilarating and fun, but I don't think it lived up to my high expectations. If I was to choose between original or inferno, and I hate to say this, but I would have to say inferno... I do apologize folks. 6.5/10
    Rita
Didn't think much of this ride, basically I dont think that it was anything too special, I would definitely pick stealth over it any day. It was a lot of fun, but by far the poorest coaster of the day for me. 5/10
    Th13teen
I really enjoyed this ride, partly because I had no clue about the drop at the end. It was one of the best rides of the day for me and it is a really strong family coaster. 6/10
    Sub-terra
Very strong attraction that did really well to create a sense of panic, and I really enjoyed it. Most definitely nit a rerideable attraction but as a one off it was superb. Not so sure on the scare maze ending, but apart from that it was really good.
I wont bother on the smaller rides but they were good aswell. Overall a great day, and I really enjoyed alton towers, and hope to return soon. :-)

10 o clock before its open (if it even opens on time) and after 6 when the park is closed. It's the new rides, its autmotically going to be busier then most other rides in the park. You'll be very lucky to go in the easter week and not have to queue at least 40 minutes for it. The only advantage going to Rita first and then over to Th13teen is that Th13teen's queue moves much faster due to it's higher throughput.

Went to fright nights twice this year, just gonna give my thoughts and opinions of the mazes. This will contain spoilers just to prewarn you.
In total we managed to do CITW, Blair witch and studio 13 twice. Saw & Valentine we only managed once.
    Saw-Alive
Last year this maze was my second favourite and was very chaotic. This year it was shocking. As far as I can remember, pretty much all the rooms were lit up, and although you could see the detailed theming really really well, it completely killed the atmosphere and the tension.I only counted around 6-8 actors in there and no pig men at all. This was by far the weakest maze and for that reason we didn't do it again. Theming 10/10 definitely. But overall experience, I would say 3/10.
    My bloody Valentine
I was pretty nervous about this one because I had heard a lot of things about how you get split up and made to crawl through tight spaces. However, when we went in it seemed very rushed, we didn't get split up, or made to crawl through a tunnel. Instead, we were rushed through with little to no scares whatsoever and it felt only 60 seconds long. I was also disappointed to see no Harry warden. My bloody Valentine was better than saw alive, because it was very dark and the actors did a good job of coming out of nowhere to scare you. The actor at the end was the best actor all night though, and was great fun to watch from the queueline. 5/10
    Studio 13
I was at the front for this one and I was very excited after hearing a lot of good things about it. There was a lot of actors in this maze and the theming was excellent. I especially liked the part where there was about five actors in a freeze frame and they all came running at you. It didn't feel like asylum at all. There were some great scares in the maze, and it produced a lot of tension as you wait to see what is around the next corner. The chainsaw ending, I believe would work really well if you are at the back of the line, but it isn't that effective otherwise. Overall it was a good, solid maze but it wasn't the best. 7/10
    Cabin in the woods
This maze was absolutely brilliant both times we went in, and was definitely the most scary and fun maze that we did. The dark corridor at the start was really effective in building the tension. I loved the forest scene, even if there weren't any actors in there the first time we went through. It has much improved from last year and it was jammed packed full of actors. They just came out of nowhere, blocking your path, dragging you away from you group, or shoving you in another room. Cabin in the woods was intense, chaotic, and a whole lot of fun. The best maze this year. 9/10
    Blair witch project
We were evacuated from this one, aswell, and it did kind of add to the experience. Last year this
attraction was very poor and this year it has been greatly improved. The use of torches was great and some of the actors really did make me jump. Although it didn't fit to the film, it was still loads of fun and I really enjoyed it. The b&q half price summer sale shed was much better aswell. 7/10
The roaming actors were fantastic, 10/10 for them this year, absolutely amazing. All in all a great year for fright nights and I'm looking forward to see what next year brings!

Review of tonight- Minor Spoilers, but nothing people don't really already know!
Studio 13- not really a fan tbh, preferred it to The Asylum cause the theming was better and I enjoyed the introduction. There was no real sense of fear though, not too many actors and we bunched up with another group at the end so no chainsaw. Didn't love it or hate it, it was okay, though I was never much a fan of The Asylum either, which I get is pretty unheard of but oh well gotta give it a 6 based on my experience though, expect it would've been better if it were quieter cause the actors and staff seemed to be really hurrying us through. Did anyone else find it REALLY short too? Like MBV short? Also what was with that woman doing your hair at the beginning? I mean I get why It was there but it just caught me really off guard and was just odd to me I just burst out laughing xD 6/10
My Bloody Valentine- different experience to last year- felt less like a chase and more like a casual stroll- but still didn't get to do the tunnel as it was stuffed full of kids who looked way too young to be in there haha xD got a bit lost walking round in circles for a bit and the Harry Warden characters had some good jump scares. I stand by what I said last year though- too short. Wayyyy too short, at least that route. 5/10
SAW: waited ages for this because the ratio of normal guests to fast trackers they were letting in was appalling. Loved the theming as always, got some good jump scares too. I actually got lost in the final scene which was so so odd to me as I never knew that could happen- we were just going round in circles for ages! So weird! But all round I was surprised by how good my run through was. 7/10
Cabin: still my undisputed favourite maze of all time. I love it. The free flow aspect really allows actors to interact with guests on a level that they just can't in the other mazes, they can really mess with you! My boyfriend and I were completely split up and I was held in one room for a long time! Found some new rooms and LOVED the added scenes. Ending was different too! More dark and disorientating in places, especially the final corridor where there was so much smoke you couldn't see your hand in front of your face! Really lively actors climbing walls, pushing us around and getting right up in our faces. Some great queue line actors too! Aside from the fact that the spinning tunnel didn't spin, I can't flaw it and ended up going in three times haha! May seem a little too kind but for me it really is 10/10. Sidenote- I really do find those people in white masks very very disturbing!
Saw a few roaming actors and happened to bump Into Ollie Murs which was... Interesting, though I'm not a fan haha. Did SAW, Colossus and Nemesis in the dark- shame to see my beloved Detonator down for a bit overall fab event!

For me, I would love it if they kept the old asylum music for studio 13. I think its way to good to go unused. It creates such a good atmosphere and I don't think that you would be able to replace it.
