  1. Yeah I would assume so after the latest incident with the guide wheels. There is nothing wrong with Oblivion, they've just closed off all of X-Sector to rectify The Smiler issue that's all
  2. Just thought of a flaw with this, what if you get a bunch of idiots who think its funny to call them up and report the queue time as being something ridiculous. For example they queue 40 mins and they call them up as a joke and say to them that its 90 mins or 5 mins. Then what? We'd be back to the original problem of inaccuracy, I love the idea of guests being able to help with the park and it could work but just saying you will get the odd few groups of people I should imagine...
  3. Since when is Thorpe open in December??
  4. What post is this that you're saying about
  5. Unfortunately I couldn't take any pictures as I didn't have any device with me but on my visit on the 31st August concrete was being poured into the old Blackbeard's site it covered a rectangular area in the middle of the old area. Probably worth a mention but when I was queuing for Rage that day a very ignorant foreigner (sorry to sound racist) dropped his phone into the Rage ride area just underneath the brake run, so what does he do... he stupidly jumped over the railings and into the ride area to retrieve his phone, thankfully a ride car with the front row full of staff was coming down the brake run at the time and shouted over to the operating team to E-Stop the ride. They E-Stopped it immediately and the car with staff in stopped at the bottom of the brake run, another stopped on its way out of the station and the third stopped half way up the lift hill. After about 15 minutes it was reset and operations resumed but for some stupid reason the boy was not escorted off the park. Its a miracle he didn't get injured but everyone in the queue line was disgusted with him and I personally was flaming with anger that he wasn't escorted off park.
  6. That's a great little find there, thanks for sharing Pluk, I had no idea about this.
  7. People who always think they know everything about the park and other parks and think they can prove you wrong when in fact they'd come up with some cocky answer to make you sound stupid for correcting them. Also chavs who use no actual English at all only slang.
  8. I wonder if people will actually bother using this system if Thorpe kept the main queuing system. I mean most people probably wont even take notice of the reserve and ride system and just go for the normal main queue system if they kept the main queue system that we use now. But if they did banish the normal main queue system imagine all of that space that would become available for development.
  9. I think this system will be great if they use it correctly and if guests actually turn up on time for their session. Obviously it does have its possible flaws that would arise if Thorpe didn't run it correctly such as over-booking but the way I see this is like a free version of fastrack because you aren't stuck in a physical queue and you can enjoy your extra time like a fastracker would. This also reminds me of the Q-bot system they use at Blackpool Pleasure Beach where you book your time and wait virtually but Thorpe's version is free that's the only difference. I hope this trial goes well and they expand it to all the rollercoasters and maybe the rides as well in the future.
  10. In that case no they got rid of that a while back I think, but the one that is there currently uses the seawater and still isn't the best of quality
  11. What do you mean if you can? You will get at least that amount of rides in on each with their throughputs
  12. That was quick then, as far as I knew it was still stuck half way around in two pieces this morning...
  13. You forgot about Fahrenheit in the background (the orange one with the vertical lift)
  14. Its a shame the Smiler was doing so well and hadn't had a major problem or series of breakdowns for weeks but now it seems to be having problem after problem again. At least they're trying to get it open again though
  15. I believe tomorrow is the last day for most schools so I should assume the same or maybe a bit quieter because of it being the last day and most schools tend to stay in school and have a "fun day" on the final day.
  16. **hides** Sorry, didn't really look at the tech aspects like the length height etc of Hero, didn't really seem to have any gimmicks other than the spiral push lift and the flying cars
  17. I completely agree with that, every other coaster takes an age and is usually delayed **cough**Smiler**cough**. So can only one train occupy the track and lift at the same time, if so throughput shall be worse than Chessington and well we all know that's terrible recently.
  18. I read on a news channel (fox 4 news I think) that the woman did actually complain that her restraint wasn't tight enough and seemed too loose. As to whether the ops and hosts did anything to rectify this is a mystery to me. But shouldn't this indicate that the woman was under the minimum height if the restraint wouldn't lower all the way down to her lap. It'll be interesting when they find out where on the track the restraint came up (assuming that the restraint theory is true of course) or where she fell out...
  19. Inferno all the way Mack Launched or Intamin Launched
  20. Surely if they fitted filters in to the effects then they could pump the water through the filters in the effects and still allow them to work. Just an idea but if it worked then they could have a smashing ride there. Maybe they could do it as a refurb for next year
  21. And to add to this list fixing any leaks and putting in some actual water features and effects like the buckets etc.
  22. I'm guessing Marc was bracing for the jolt, great TR so far Peaj.
  23. My top 10 (I haven't ever been abroad or to Towers so they wont be in the list but here it is anyway) 1. Nemesis Inferno - after my first ride on Sunday it took over straight away as my number one with the speed and forces and the pre-lift section is so floaty also my first Inverted coaster 2. Colossus - Great layout and my first major coaster 3. Grand National - Just a hell of a lot of fun 4. Pepsi Max Big One - Tall and fast so yeah 5. Big Dipper - Again a lot of fun and a woodie 6. Megafobia - the latest woodie in the UK and was my first woodie. 7. Rage - My first Eurofighter and is a great little ride hardly ever breaks down 8. Wild Mouse (BPB) - Very fun and old so that adds to the fun 9. Dragons Fury - a fun little family coaster 10. X - its fun and the refurb made it fab So yeah there you go I do plan to go to Alton an abroad in a few years when I'm older ( seeming I'm only 14) so the list will change
  24. I forgot to put this post up on Sunday but operations for Sunday were generally really good all the ride crews tried their best to keep the queues down and yet Colossus still stayed over 90 mins. But the main queue time boards were complete lies. They advertised Colossus as 5 mins at 2oclock so I ran over to it to find the single Colossus board said 90 mins, I said no that doesn't look like 90 mins and went in and yet it still took 65 mins. Also most of the queue times from 4 oclock onwards were advertised at around 20 to 30 mins each, however most were walk on got 2 rides on Inferno within 5 minutes even though the queue was advertised as 25 mins. Why are the times so inaccurate, surely at a park like Thorpe they should be spot on.
  25. It was but its back up and running today though, at about 2 oclock there were engineers working on it all day and Vortex was getting some attention but not as much
