  1. Also, for those interested, I've heard there's going to be a slight change to Face it Alone this year, whereby you don't get to choose your maze, but instead your maze maze is chosen for your on the night in a carnival-like game.  Quite a cool idea, and should help spread the numbers more evenly across the mazes.

That honestly sounds terrifying! I did Cabin last year however I think the whole experience would be twice as threatening if you didn't have the comfort of choosing. Also, just the words "carnival game" give me shivers!

  2. We all know I seem to end up in arguments all the time, however...

You say Benin's response was too vague however your original post was just as vague and open anyway! I can see where you're both coming from though I guess.

On another note, when do you think we might actually get an official reason from Merlin Entertainments? Some articles in the media previously linked it all to human error and Towers have denied it haven't they? Or did they just deny the Autumn opening?

  3. Doesn't quite sound like you know your stuff, any other more educated responses?

You're accusing someone of not knowing their stuff when you just asked how it crashed?

Like Benin said, two trains crashed. The block system worked at first and stopped the loaded train at the crest of the lift, however it suddenly pushed them over the top and that's what the mystery was about.

  4. Desperate to know what the other tunnel is for. Seems to twisty to be just for a footpath but part of my hopes there isn't another coaster as it might look too crammed in and not enough room for theming.

I'm certain Phantasialand can pull it all off though. I'm so excited for the next five years or so! New hotel, waterpark and more! Also looking forward to seeing which part of the park they knock down next! (Please be TotNH building)

  5. saying they are working to create the best thing ever, is a very bold statement indeed.

Pretty sure they said something like "most unique", not the "best thing ever". We (including you) don't know what it is, so for all we know, it could be the most unique ride ever.

  6. Sorry for the rushed, low-res screenshots with the RCT3 UI still showing, but I thought I'd share a little thing I've started here!

This is the start of the Vermont View Resort which will be hopefully be part of a larger complex with a theme park and other resorts, as well as an entertainment district if I can round to it! I'm doing this to pass time before I go to uni on the 25th, however I'll probably carry on slowly once I'm there... :)

Here's the front driveway of the first hotel lit up at night! It's not finished, and obviously if you think of any improvements I'd honestly love to hear so I can make it better!

  7. Where did the speculation of a doctor who ride actually come from?

There was no evidence to ever suggest Doctor Who, it's just some people reading a little too much into things!

If this thing does end up being Doctor Who themed (which I'm 100% sure it won't be) I'll admit I was wrong the whole time, but I just can't see this using that IP.

  8. Or it could be just RCT World, you design your coaster, walk into an old car seat and put on a VR headset and have a fan blown in your face as your chair is shoved about by an attendent.

Anyone else remember the Gadget Show episode years back when they did just this?! Haha great minds think alike it seems.

  9. Well it's more convincing than Zufari's, at least they bothered with a roof!

Being more serious though, I'm not even sure if that is supposed to be a cave, it's supposed to be two waterfalls.

EDIT:  The plans state it as "two cascading waterfalls", so it's not supposed to be a cave.

Whereas this scene is supposed to be a cave, and it looks much more realistic.

I haven't ridden Chiapas (or any water ride outside the UK) and whilst it looks fantastic, Valhalla combines a complete dark ride with a very good water ride, whereas Chiapas is a very well themed log flume, but one that takes place mostly outside without any of the high budget effects that Valhalla has.

Comparing a ride to one at Chessington isn't saying much nowadays haha. As for the "two waterfalls", it's a cave/tunnel with rocks that look awful. The water just appears from nowhere and looks completely unnatural! The screenshot you posted above does look natural and looks fab. I don't get why they couldn't make the entire ride look that great. After all it is the "best in the world".

As for Chiapas, I know it's different but I'd say it's slightly more polished from what I can see. However as you said, it's not a dark ride so in terms of ride experience it's hard to compare. However everywhere you look on Chiapas, it's seamless and looks natural.

There are several areas of foilage in the park, but with such little space I'd rather they filled it with rides!  It's also worth remembering that they are an amusement park, not a theme park.

True, but amusement parks don't have to look grotty as well as just bland!
